This underground maze looks mighty confusing, but it’s actually not that bad. The idea is to use your Strength ability to move boulders out of the way and drop them into holes in the floor. This will make them fall to a lower level and form a dam — which stops the strong current and lets you safely swim around. If you mess up and move a boulder into a bad spot, simply exit the room to find the boulder reset to its original position.

After you enter the cave, go to the east and push the boulder into the hole to the north of it. Now go back to the steps to the north of the entrance and go up. Grab the Ice Heal. Instead of going down the ladder in front of you, continue on to the east and go down the steps there. Push the boulder down the hole, then take the ladder next to the hole down to the basement. You will now see the rock you pushed through from above lying on the ground. Push it into the next hole and head back up. You should now take the ladder you originally passed by.

You will emerge on top of a plateau. Make your way south, then east, up the steps and all the way north. Now go to the right and go down the steps. Voila. There’s that first boulder you pushed down. Push it into the next hole and head back up onto the plateau and go back to the very northwestern corner of this room. There, you will find another ladder (it’s close to the ladder you original came down from). Go down and head east to find your boulder again. Push it into the hole and head back up. Go south and east and back onto the second plateau. On the southern portion, you will find a Revive.

Go down the ladder on this plateau, then head west and take the steps down leading to the ladder in the southwestern corner of this room (be sure to pick up the Big Pearl to the east before heading down). Confused yet? It will get worse.

You should now emerge from the ladder just to the north of another boulder. To get there, head to the east and down. There are four boulders here that you need to push around, two of which have to be pushed into holes. Here’s the easy way to do it. Start with the right boulder and push it up two squares. Now you can push the second boulder from the right down. Push it one square down only, then one square to the left. Next, push the boulder just to the north of you all the way to the left. You can now drop the lboulder just north of its hole down into it. Return to the final stone, push it two spaces to the left, then one space down to finish.

Go up the steps and continue on northwest until you see steps leading down to a small area with another ladder. Take those down to the lowest level. Make your way to the northeastern corner of this area and use the ladder to go back up (it’s near a sign). Take the next ladder up as well. You will now be able to push the last boulder into the hole. Now go back down the two ladders — you are ready for a swim. With the boulders blocking the current, you can now go to the westernmost part of this area and walk down the steps into the water. Swim to the very north until you see a bird Pokémon perched on a small island. This is your chance to catch another legendary bird Pokémon.

Articuno can be found in the northwest corner of the lowest level of this dungeon. It’s a lot easier to catch than Zapdos since you can use Electric attacks to bring its HP down. Be sure to save your game before you try to catch Articuno as it can take a couple of tries (and a lot of Ultra Balls) to get it. But catch it you must. It’s already at level 50 and will learn the powerful Ice attack Blizzard at level 51.

After you’re done, go back to the ladder you just passed and take it up. You should now be on the level where you pushed around the four blocks. Go south, but don’t take the ladder you see there — instead go east and up, then descend the steps into the water and swim over to the right. Walk up the steps and go south to find a new ladder. This is the way out.

The shockingly powerful Electric/Flying legendary bird Zapdos appears at the end of the Power Plant near the exit.

Location: Mt. Ember

Method:
Moltres, the Fire/Flying legendary bird, is the only Pokemon to leave its original home from Red and Blue. This time you can find it residing at the volcanic Mt. Ember on One Island, after a Strength boulder puzzle.

Location: Cerulean Cave

Method:
The strongest Pokemon, Mewtwo, makes its home at the end of the treacherous Cerulean Cave. This unknown dungeon cannot be accessed until after you’ve received the National Dex and requires Surf, Rock Smash, and Strength to navigate. Get its HP down carefully and avoid burning, confusing, or poisoning it so you don’t knock it out accidentally. Sleep and paralysis work well.

Deoxys is fittingly found on the last Sevii Island, Birth Island – but only after you complete a rather unique puzzle. This puzzle involves chasing a black triangle around the island and talking to it until it becomes red hot, after which Deoxys will emerge and attack. Perhaps unusually, Deoxys is the lowest leveled Legendary Pokemon at just Level 30, so be careful not to knock it out.

After you catch Deoxys it will revert to either its Attack Forme in FireRed or its Defense Forme in LeafGreen. These cannot be changed without trading, and only then as long as the Pokemon is in the game – however, stats will still be calculated accordingly for link battles. That is to say, for example, that a Deoxys on Emerald would have its Speed Forme stats when fighting against FireRed (and vice versa).

Roaming Pokйmon

Location: Kanto

Method:
Making their debut in the Kanto region are the legendary dog trio of Johto, who once again take to the grasses of the countryside as roaming Pokemon. You will only encounter one per game and its contingent upon which starter Pokemon you picked; that is, the legendary with the type advantage will appear – Entei for Bulbasaur, Suicune for Charmander, Raikou for Squirtle. This means you must use a trapping move such as Block to be able to fight them. A word of caution, though – due to a glitch, Entei and Raikou (but not Suicune) will sometimes use Roar if trapped and can never be seen again. For this reason it may be best to save your Master Ball to use on these incredibly difficult Pokemon.

Well, there’s Mewtwo, there’s plenty of pokemon in Smogon’s OU and BL tier lists of 3rd gen, there’s plenty of counters to Alakazam (Snorlax, Mewtwo. ) and Snorlax (Weezing, Fighting types. ).

And there’s still no best team. Not for your description or any other.

I did not explicitly suggest pokemon, but I did tell him where to look. Whereas some of those suggestions are quite iffy.

“The starter pokemon”: No, Venusaur and maybe Charizard are fine, but Blastoise is not.

Magneton and Electabuzz: No. Jolteon, please. And Vaporeon, Espeon and Umbreon as well.

Bolded Slowbro: Not really bolded, not that good, especially when Zapdos and Dragonite were not bolded and several other “bolded” obtainable pokes weren’t included in your post.

Fearow: No. Dodrio, Crobat, Aerodactyl, even Gyarados and Charizard are better Flying types.

Kangaskhan: Not really. Tauros plz.

Chansey: evolve unless you really want to stay a purist.

Scizor is hot garbage in Gen 3. It only has a cool factor and that’s it. Heracross and Tyranitar are the only ones worth mentioning. The legendary felines have bugged IV’s and then only Suicune and Raikou are worth considering. Steelix can use Explosion, and that’s always good in Gen 3.

Psychics are okay. Chansey doesn’t have that amazing special stat to use in Gen 3. Alakazam like Gengar are better in full advance games were Gen 3 Pokemon appear, but not so hot outside that. Espeon to some degree outclasses Alakazam and can Baton Pass Calm Mind boosts and use Charm to cushion physical hits. Wish is just the icing on the cake.

Dodrio outclasses Fearow. Crobat is pretty awful. Aerodactyl is great and be sure to get it Rock Slide ASAP.

Kang is bad. Tauros is usable. Snorlax wants Curse really bad. Electabuzz and Magneton are both really poor without Hidden Power coverage.

Machamp is redundant with Heracross. Unless you really want Cross Chop.

Dragonite isn’t really that useful in Gen 3.

In short, just throw all your knowledge on Gen 1 out of the Window.

Build a core with Snorlax/Mewtwo/Heracross and add good things to it gradually.

After the encounter with Articuno, go onto land and take the ladder. Go down afterwards and take another ladder. Go right and pick up the Pearl. Go right to take another ladder that’ll lead you to a Water Stone. Come back, go up the steps, and take the ladder. Push the boulder that you’ve pushed in the beginning into holes and follow it. Do this until you reach water. The current will be blocked, and you’ll be able to go onto land. Follow the path, and soon, you’re out of the Seafoam Islands!

How do I catch the legendary birds?

Ok,I’m in Fuchsia City, I’ve got 6 badges(excluding the fire and ground) and I got surf and I know you need it to get to the legendary birds hiding places. So this is what I do.
.I lower there health to about 1% and I put a status change on it.
.Then I throw any type of pokeball at it and try to catch but the ONLY thing it does is shake 2 times and then escape.

No. The legendary birds are pissers. I caught both Articuno and Zapdos with great balls, after throwing at least 30 ultra balls, after running out. Moltres on the other hand I caught with an ultra ball.

However, I had to soft reset about 5 times before I caught Articuno, 7 for Zapdos, and maybe 12 for Moltres, all because I ran out of balls (besides the master ball, in which I’m saving for mewtwo). Their catch rates are tiny! Half the time you get one, two, or no shakes. But then randomly you catch one of them. You need A LOT of patience.

As for doing something in the story, yes, but only for Moltres. Just beat gym seven and bill will ask you if you want to go to the islands. Say yes. Now, complete all the sidequests and stuff, then head to one island. Surf up kindle road, until you make it to Mount Ember. Just remember to get rock smash inside the ember spa. Climb Mount Ember, using strength and rock smash, and that’s where you will find Moltres.
