Select the Perfect Bowling Ball
If your bowling ball is too light, there won’t be any force behind it to make it down the lane and knock over pins. If it’s too heavy, your arm will get tired quickly. A general rule of thumb is to choose a ball that weighs 10 percent of your body weight.
Test Out the Finger Holes
Just like your bowling ball, the finger holes must be the perfect size. If they’re too big, the bowling ball can easily slip from your grasp and either roll down the lane without speed or accidentally hit someone. If they’re too small, you won’t be able to insert your fingers into the holes, or you may hurt your fingers on release. Pick a bowling ball with finger holes that are snug but not too tight.
Be Aware of Proper Etiquette
Whether you’re playing by yourself or with a team, it’s important to follow rules of etiquette so that everyone can enjoy this activity. To become a better bowler, follow these rules:
- The platform before the lane is called the approach. Only one person, the active bowler, should be on the approach. . It’s very rude to talk or yell anything when a bowler is about to release the bowling ball.
- If you need to use someone else’s bowling ball, make sure to ask permission. Some balls are very expensive and it’s rude not to ask before borrowing a bowling ball.
