How to enjoy a visit to a water park

When the summer comes, or when we not only need to relax but also to have pure fun with our family and take a break from our everyday life, we often seek destinations that make our state of mind rest. Most often, that desired vacation takes place along the seaside while eating ice creams, drinking cocktails, and watching kids play. But for doing that, we need to take a more extended break from the job, and that is where water parks step in and solve most of our problems, as we do not need that much time to visit some of these great places, and also, they usually have much more to offer.

If you are a water lover but do not have time to take a break and plan everything for your family, the ideal destination for cooling down and enjoying the water could be water parks.

Whether someone wants to have fun with their spouse, enjoying the sun in phenomenal swimsuits, or want to take the kids to enjoy all the charms of water fun, whichever water park you choose, we are sure that you will not go wrong.

During the summer heat, a water park is a favorite place for children to have fun, and they also represent enjoyment to the whole family, and today, when there are some marvelous water parks like aquaventuras.com, the choice should be simple. But for those who still are not that sure about taking their family to some of these exceptional places, we gathered six most important reasons why you should do precisely that.

Pure happiness

How to enjoy a visit to a water park

First of all, no matter how old or uptight someone is, there is no way that after taking a twisted waterslide, they will not have a smile, have a laugh, and feel relaxed, especially if those who you love the most are right there with you. Being here truly brings the best out of all of us, and with all theme parks, cool and, sometimes, spooky slides, the fun is something that is guaranteed. The water parks are often referred to as the fountain of youth, and for the right reasons, and once you experience all they could offer, you will realize why that statement is so true because here, experiencing childlike happiness is a common thing.

Everything for everyone

Well, this should be something obvious, as we are all aware of how many exciting things water parks can offer. Whether someone likes to get everything out of them when they scream from the top of their lungs, or to enjoy a nice and steady slide, to swim and play ball with their kids, or to simply relax, enjoy the sun and work on their tan, these themed parks have all that covered.

There is something for everyone, and this is especially true when we talk about activities for the whole family as a lot of them offer different and amusing things to do. Zipline, climbing wall and adventure park are only some of the things that you can enjoy in, among the waterslides, and for those who like to compete, games that include the whole family are something that you will surely savor.

Family competition

Racing is a thing that most people find so attractive, but it is also a perfect way to boost adrenaline and have good fun. Spice it all up with some kind of a reward for the winners, and as a result, you will get a unique, funny, and exceptional adventure. Waterslides, where many people (usually 5 to 10) can race at once, are available in almost every water park, and for those with small children, a good thing to know is that there are slower slides where youngsters can also have a blast.

Perfect place for making perfect family memories

Not having enough time to spend with the family is a modern time issue that affects all of us, and that is why we all want to spend every minute of free time with our wife or husband and children, and what better place to do all that then water parks. Not only that you will have the time of your life, but most importantly, that time will be spent with your loved ones.

Do not forget about the road trip if there is no water park near your home – it is an adventure for itself. All in all, we can have memorable moments only with those who are important to us, and if there is one thing to be sure of, it is that no emails or phone calls will get in the way and disturb those moments while you are in the water park.

To charge-up

With all the slides and things to do, this reason may come as a surprise or be confusing. But when we do not have any distractions, and the whole day is about excitement and fun, getting exhausted physically is a perfect way to (mentally) charge up, boost overall energy level, and prepare ourselves for all that lays ahead.

Good night’s sleep is another benefit, as the children, after a whole day of numerous activities, will surely get that, which also means that there will be more time to spend with your lovely wife or husband.

The ideal place to cool down

It’s not the heat – it’s the humidity. How many times did we hear or say this? And yes, we all know that summer can be so brutal, and what better way to cool down than to go to the place where not only you will get precisely that but also have a lot of fun. It’s no wonder why water parks are getting so popular because they offer a unique experience, and visiting them does not mean that you cannot enjoy other summer activities. Visit a museum, have a day or two, or a whole week at the beach, do what you want and need, but make sure that water parks are also on that list.

We know that you are going to love your visit to Hurricane Harbor. We want you to have an amazing day, and the information here will help make sure that your time with us is safe and enjoyable.

WATER PARK RULES
We want you to have the most fun you can at Hurricane Harbor. The following rules are in place to make sure that all of our guests are as safe as possible during their visit.

  • Please keep an eye on your young children; they should not be left unattended.
  • To make sure you have a safe experience, height, weight, and health restrictions are strictly enforced.
  • For water safety, make sure non-swimmers are accompanied by an adult who can swim.
  • If you are wearing a cast, check with Guest Relations since casts are not allowed on slides and most attractions.
  • Please do not wear eyeglasses or jewelry in pools, as they may not be retrievable if lost during operation.
  • Face masks, floatation devices and toys are not permitted in the water. Please see information on life vests below.
  • Running is not allowed anywhere in the water park.
  • Diving is not allowed for safety reasons.
  • Hurricane Harbor is a smoke-free environment, so there is no smoking in the park except in designated areas.
  • Capacity is limited, so the park may not be available to all guests during peak times.

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE
To participate in the water park activities, you must wear lined swimsuits. We don’t allow guests to enter the water areas wearing street clothes, cut-off shorts, denim shorts or athletic clothing. Because they can damage the rides, we also do not allow swimwear with buttons, snaps, rivets or zippers. But, don’t worry — if you don’t have appropriate clothing, swimsuits can be purchased at Coconut Cove and Sharkey’s! Here are more guidelines to help you pick out the best attire for your trip to Hurricane Harbor:

  • Footwear other than aqua socks are not allowed in any attraction.
  • Aqua socks are not permitted on body slides.
  • Infants’ diapers may be changed in restroom changing stations only.
  • Toddlers are required to wear swim diapers.
  • Swimsuits are only allowed in Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, and must be appropriate for a family environment.
  • Shoes, proper shorts and cover-up attire are all required when returning to the theme park.
  • Sheer, mesh, and see-through clothing cannot be used as a cover up over bathing suits.
  • Wallet chains and large chain jewelry are not allowed.

CABANAS
You will love the relaxation and privacy of our Cabanas overlooking the spectacular Hurricane Bay wave pool. Cabanas seat up to eight guests and provide you with a fantastic place to escape the crowds and rest when needed. Reserve your cabana online.

FIRST AID
If you get a scrape or a cut, head over to our First Aid Station located to the right of Hurricane Bay Wave Pool. Our trained staff will patch you up in no time.

LIFE GUARDS
Licensed lifeguards are located throughout the park. Don’t hesitate to seek their assistance for any reason.

LIFE VESTS
Guests who are under 48” or not fully confident in their swimming ability should wear a life vest. A life vest makes everyone feel more comfortable in the water and it’s always better to be safe than sorry. They are free of charge and available at most water attractions. Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal life vests are permitted.

LOCKERS
If you don’t feel like lugging your belongings around all day, we rent lockers for your convenience. They are located directly in front of Hurricane Bay. All lockers are cleared out each night when Hurricane Harbor closes. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

LOST CHILDREN
The best bet is to figure out a special meeting place for kids to go if they get lost or separated from their families. Since pages cannot be broadcast in Hurricane Harbor, children who are separated from their parties will be taken to Lost Parents inside Main Street First Aid Station.

SHOWER FACILITIES
Want to clean up on your way in or out? It’s so easy for you to change and shower before or after your visit to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor since shower facilities are located in both bath houses.

SUNSCREEN
You should definitely remember to apply sunscreen before your visit. It gets hot! But, don’t worry if you forget, sunscreen is available in several park shops.

TUBE RENTALS
Single and double are so much fun and our tubes are awesome! They are available for rent at Aruba Tuba Rentals, located near the changing and showering facilities. For your safety, no personal recreational flotation devices are allowed in Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.

Though we may be saying good-bye to the last remnants of Summer, luckily for visitors to Florida, there still won’t be any shortage of warm temperatures in which to bask at one of Walt Disney World’s two water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. However, if there’s a Magic Your Way add-on that tends to get lost in the shuffle, its the Water Park Fun and More option. For most, it can’t compete with the value of adding the Park Hopper option and for others, well its just difficult to uncover what exactly is included in this advantageous add-on. We here at DisneyAddicts think there’s a lot to love about Water Park Fun and More. We’ll explain the ins and outs so that you can decide whether or not its a worthy addition to your next Disney itinerary.

What’s included in the Water Park Fun and More option? Those purchasing Water Park Fun and More can gain entry to the following:

  • Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
  • DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (This includes 30 mins of game access at The PlayStation Pavilion) – Separate cost of admission required for some attractions.
  • Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
  • Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
  • Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course

How many visits do I get to the places listed above? The way this add-on works is that you get a “Fun” visit for everyday that you have a park ticket for. So if you have a 5 day theme park ticket and purchase the add-on, then you essentially have 5 visits to any of the locations listed above. A four day ticket gets four fun visits etc. etc. The only exception is that for a 1 day ticket with the add-on they upped the fun visits from 1 to 2 to give you a bit more bang for your buck. There’s a lot of flexibility in terms of how you use your visits, with the only restriction being that you must use them within 14 days of activation. A perks, is that you can use them on the same day as your Disney park admission. So, you can spend the morning at Magic Kingdom and when things start to heat up go to Blizzard Beach. Or, you could get a 5 day theme park ticket with the Water Park add-on and on days 6 & 7 use up a few of your fun visit allocations.

How much does the Water Park Fun and More add-on cost? The great thing about this add-on is that there is a flat-rate. Meaning that if you had a 3 day park ticket or if you had a 6 day park ticket the rates would remain the same. The cost is currently $68.10 for the add-on. A one day admission to one of the Water Parks is usually $60.00 per adult and $54 for children (6-9). This makes it a great option for those with longer stays that might pay several visits to the water parks or have the time to enjoy some of the other locations listed above. The value would however be less for those with shorter stays.

I bought a Park Hopper ticket. That will get me into the Water Parks right? Sadly not. The Park Hopper is great for allowing you to visit more than one theme park each day but it only includes the 4 main parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Even with the Park Hopper option, if you wanted to enjoy the water parks you would need to buy a separate ticket or pay for the Water Park add-on as well. However, there is good news in that Disney does offer both add-ons bundled together for additional savings. Park Hopper currently runs about $73.00 per ticket. Water Park Fun and More as mentioned above is $68.16. If you combine them into the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More add-on, instead of paying $141.65, it will cost $101.18. So that’s a savings of $40.00.

Is it worth it? It absolutely can be. If you visit a water park more than once during your stay it has already paid for itself. If you were to take advantage of the other locations included in the offer then there is also definitely added value. Here’s a quick run-down of the costs of these locations if you were paying out-of-pocket.

  • Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach: 1 day admission (no-blackout dates) $60.00 per adult and $54.00 per child (ages 3-9).
  • Disney Quest: 1 Day Pass $47.93 per adult and $39.00 per child.
  • Winter Summerland or Fantasia Miniature Golf – $14 per adult $12.00 per child.
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports: $17.50 per adult and $12.50 per child.
  • Oak Trail Golf Course: $39.90 per adult and $21.00 per junior.

So whether its the indoor attractions at Disney Quest (which make a great rainy day activity by the way), the greens of Oak Trail or spending an afternoon tubing on a lazy river, if you are the active Disney-goer that likes to give everything a try, this may be a nice option to consider on your next trip to the Mouse.

Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time for fun in the sun! Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach and Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay both reopened recently, and for many guests that means a water park day on their Orlando vacation.

How to enjoy a visit to a water park Volcano Bay

Recently I went to both water parks to see which park is worth a visit. Both are great in their own right, but for me, I enjoyed the rides and vibe of Volcano Bay much more. See why in the AllEars TV video below!

No matter which you choose, you’ll be packing a bag. And what to bring with you on your water park adventure?! Here are a few must-haves!

What to Pack on Your Next Water Park Adventure

1. A Towel

This one may seem obvious, but trust us you need a towel! While you can rent them at the water parks ($2 at Disney, $6 at Universal), bringing your own is an easy way to save money.

Plus, if you bring your own you can guarantee it’s big and fluffy. How cute is this Disney character cupcake one from shopDisney?!

2. A Hat

Ahhh a hat. It can serve so many purposes — keep the sun off your face, fashion, or in my case at water parks, the best way to hide my hair and keep my head warm post-slides.

How to enjoy a visit to a water park Hats are where it’s at.

Whether it be a cap or a sunhat, you’ll be happy you packed one. You can shop my cute Harry Potter one here!

3. Sunscreen

This feels like a no-brainer but you’ll be glad you packed it! If you think the sun is blaring at a theme park, just wait until you’re in a swimsuit and the rays are beating down on you all day.

How to enjoy a visit to a water park ©Target

You can buy it at the parks, but it’ll be marked up quite a bit so just pack your own. I personally go for the spray since it’s less messy, like this Target two pack.

4. A Sweatshirt

This sounds silly but trust me! Once you ride all the slides and swim in the pool where the water is heated, you may get a little chilly. It’s great to have something cozy to put on for the car ride home or post-swimming snacks.

How to enjoy a visit to a water park Nice and Cozy.

I snagged this Slytherin one in Diagon Alley, but you can shop a similar look here!

4. Extra Masks

While masks aren’t allowed in the water or on the rides, they are required in common areas such as shops and restaurants. It’s always smart to pack extra masks when visiting Disney and Universal, but even smarter at the water parks considering it could get wet!

How to enjoy a visit to a water park Temperature Check

I normally wear cotton masks (made by my aunt or Disney / Universal brands), but I chose to wear a KN95 at the water parks. They’re disposable so if I lost it or dropped it in the lazy river, it wouldn’t be a big deal. You can grab a pack of them here!

5. Waterproof Phone Case

This was the biggest lifesaver during my recent water park days! I was able to literally bring my phone on Summit Plummet and film on the lazy river without any issues.

6. Waterproof Makeup

Okay, maybe this is just me, but I love a good long-wearing lipstick!

How to enjoy a visit to a water park All smiles post Summit Plummit.

I wore Maybelline Super Stay during both filming at both Blizzard Beach and Volcano Bay and it stayed on through every slide and lap around a Lazy River. It comes in a lot of colors and is only $8 so you can grab a few shades without guilt. Shop it here!

I also wore CoverGirl Waterproof Mascara that survived the slides impeccably. Grab it here!

There you have it — a few of my water park must haves. Take it from me who shelled out big bucks for the cell phone bag and towel at the park, you’ll want to grab these before you go.
