How to Unlock and Turn Into Super Sonic

Sonic Mania is a true follow up to the classic Genesis games. Like any Sonic game worth its salt, Sonic Mania features the Chaos Emeralds and allows the blue blur to turn into Super Sonic, provided he can collect all seven. In order to unlock and turn into Super Sonic, you’ll need to first collect all seven of these Chaos Emeralds.

To do that, you’ll need to search for the big rings on each act, which when you enter them, will transport you to a special stage. You don’t need to start with Green Hill Zone and work from there, but you can only use a big ring once, and you’ll have to find another somewhere else in order to re-enter the special stage.

You’ll need to follow a course that is littered with blue spheres, rings, and traps. There is a UFO that is carrying the Chaos Emerald and you need to catch it. In order to do that, you need to build up enough speed by gathering as many Blue Spheres as you can. Once you reach the fastest mach speed indicated on the top center meter on your screen, you’re fast enough to catch the UFO. Try to not careen off of the path, look for short cuts, and catch the UFO and get the Chaos Emerald. Once you have all seven, you can then turn into Super Sonic in-game.

In order to turn into him, you need to collect at least 50 rings. After that, just jump and hit the jump button again while in the air to morph into him. You’ll now be completely invincible, aside from falling into bottomless pits and being crushed. You’ll also run much faster and will be able to blaze through acts like never before.

Hint: Defeat Metalmadness:
As Team Rose, break one of the boxes to get Team Blast. Get close to him in Power or Fly formation on the edge. Use it, then change to Fly formation attack until you are not invincible. Do the same thing again with the other box, then keep attacking in Fly formation close to him. If you get hit, get back on the stage and avoid the rest of his attacks. Get the rings and try again. Eventually he will lose his 100 HP on that side. Then as Team Chaotix, the color of his weak point changes, and it will not be harmed by that formation (blue impervious to speed, red impervious to power, etc.). First, change to Fly formation and get the balloons above you without getting hit. Get in Power formation, get in the canon on the edge, and fire at the weak point. Note: You will not get hurt in the canon. Do this again until it is red and switch to fly. Do the same thing as Team Rose until it turns yellow. Repeat Power formation and Fly formation until he is defeated. You are now in front of Metal Sonic as Team Dark. First, get the level-ups for all three characters. Rouge’s is in the air and the rest are in the boxes. Attack him in this order, according to color of weak point: red fly, blue power, and yellow power. Power formation does the most damage. It is recommended that you first get a few extra lives for each team including Sonic’s for the next Boss if you have a problem getting balloons.

The Metal Madness part of the Boss is easy, but is the longest. Every time he shoots three rounds of a crystal attack counter with Homing Attack. If he uses missiles, use Thunder Shoot. If he goes down below the clouds, he will throw a ship at you. To counter, punch the ship. His last attack is Chaos Control. This attack is unavoidable and does not do any damage. The only attack that hurts him is Team Blast. To use it, counter the attacks and most of all check your rings; it still decreases like the other Sonic games while in super mode.

Hint: Playing final stage in story mode:
When you complete one of the story modes, go to the challenge screen. Notice that one of the stages is not there. To play this stage you must get all seven Chaos Emeralds. You can get the Chaos Emeralds by playing the stages before you face the Boss. Get the key for that stage and go to the bonus stage. Then, catch the Chaos Emerald before you get to the end of the bonus stage. Once you get the all seven Chaos Emeralds, you can play the final stage. There is only one Chaos Emerald for each set of levels.

Hint: No-faced Cheese:
Enable the metallic characters for Team Rose. Notice that Cheese has no face.

Glitch: Dr. Robotnik dialogue:
When playing as Team Rose, after you complete Egg Carnival, Dr. Robotnik will say “Those were just the easy ones boys”, instead of “boys and girls”.
Unlockable: Super Hard Difficulty
Beat the game with 141 Emblems and all A ratings.

Sonic Heroes Cheats :

Secret – Defeating Metal Sonic

The best way I found to do it;

Ps. The colors on his chest mean;
Blue – Speed Attacks will not work on him (Amy, Espio, Shadow)
Red – Power Attacks will not work on him (Big, Vector, Omega)
Yellow – Flying Attacks will not work on him (Cream, Charmy, Rouge)

1. When you’re Team Rose, use the first Team Blast right off to get invincibilaty, then switch to Big, and attack Metal Sonic. Right before you beat him, get the other Team Blast. DON’T USE IT. Finish him off. Now, on to Team Chaotix
2. Used that saved Team Blast from Team Rose, right off. Then, swap to Espio, and turn invisable. Then, just throw kunai at him till his color changes to Yellow. Swap to Vector, and pound him till his color changes again. Swap to Espio again, and repeat. Make sure you get Team Blast!
3. As Team Dark, get all the Power Cores, then used the saved Team Blast. His colors change even more now. When his colors are Red and Blue, use Rouge. When his color is yellow, use Shadow. GET TEAM BLAST.
4. Team Super Sonic’s is very hard. Used the saved Team Blast right off. Then, keep collecting rings. Metal Sonic will attack in 3 different ways;
1. Frontal Crystals- Use Sonic’s Speed Dash on them
2. Geodome Spears- Use Tails to shoot SS & Knuckles
2. Throwing Eggman’s fleet- Use Knuckles Super Punch
Just Keep using Team Blast! It takes 10 Team Blasts to beat him!

Easter Egg – Chaos Emeralds

You know that Questionmark Key? Get that key in each stage. Don’t get damaged, and complete the stage with it. Then you’ll enter a Bonus Round. Half of the time it will be Sphere Collecting and the Chao Ballon, but, the other half, you’ll chase a Chaos Emerald. My reccomended teams for catching each Emerald

For the first three, use Team Rose.
For the middle two, use Team Sonic.
For the last two, use Team Dark.

Ok, here’s the way to go. Stay as speed the ENTIRE TIME. (If you run through gates, change back to speed) Collect tons of Power Orbs. Fill the gauge to level 3. Then use power dash. To help avoid those evil bombs, stay on the ceiling. When your gauge runs low, repeat. Each stage gets more and more difficult. Good Luck.

Notes

  • This appears to be a near final build.
  • This build is more recent than the October 8, 2003 prototype but older than the November 18, 2003 prototype.

General Changes

  • Basic debug mode (L+R in-game) is still enabled.
  • The text on the Blue Window doesn’t have the drop shadow added.
  • The main menu background (RW Maestro) often does not successfully render after returning from gameplay until switching to another menu.
  • This build can crash on Seaside Hill (maybe other stages too?) due to an unknown memory issue. First symptom is usually the ADX Decoder (Music) looping.
  • The story mode progression counter has been implemented but is broken. Displays -03 after completion of any map.
  • Omochao somewhat works (unlike Oct 8, Prototype) but only has speech (no text), locks controls and disappears quickly.
  • Super Hard Mode cannot be enabled without hacking. Layout data for Super Hard not present on ROM.
  • Unlike Oct 8, Prototype, most menus can be navigated in any order (left-right-up-down) instead of just a fixed order.
  • Egg Emperor has a more recent model; complete with the Eggman texture for the cockpit (Oct 8, Prototype just has a spinny circle); but is not quite the final (music still missing). His gameplay resembles the final build (unlike Oct 8, Prototype).
  • Some early stages for Team Rose have been shortened down since the Oct 8, Prototype (e.g. Ocean Palace), while others remain longer (e.g. Power Plant).
  • Characters in the selection screen have slightly different positioning.
  • Rouge’s eyelids (a separate model) are not rendered in the menu screens.
  • The sound test and CG theater are still fully unlocked.
  • The player starts off with 119 emblems.

How to unlock super sonic in sonic heroes

Metal Sonic is a recurring villain in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, acting as a foil and robotic doppelganger to Sonic the Hedgehog. As one of Dr. Eggman’s greatest inventions, he assists the mad scientist in his efforts by challenging Sonic and company to a race in Black Core Zone Act 1 and eventually as the penultimate boss in Black Core Zone Act 2.

After completing the game, Metal Sonic is unlocked as a playable character with the ability to hover in mid-air given he has enough speed, as at lower speeds he will slowly descend. He also has access to Boost Mode, an ability that allows him to shred through enemies and spikes when he’s at high speeds. This makes Metal Sonic most beneficial to advanced players who can maintain a fast speed and find creative routes with the use of Metal’s hover.

The player will face Metal Sonic in a race at Black Core Act 1. Metal Sonic has the advantage of being able to shred through spikes, making certain platforming sentences trivial to him. However it does leave openings if the player finds themselves falling behind.

For the proceeding zone, the player fights Metal Sonic head on in a fight. Unlike other bosses, when Metal Sonic is hit he flees leaving a purple holographic trail behind him, and is vulnerable to properly attack. The period in which he’s vulnerable slowly decreases as he takes more hits. Metal Sonic will slowly hover around the player, and if given the chance will charge up an attack. His attacks are a variety of energy ball attacks, getting progressively harder to dodge as Metal Sonic sustains more damage. After taking five hits, he’ll enter a more berserk mode where he charges at the player and bounces across the arena, before being once again vulnerable to hit. After being defeated, Metal Sonic slowly rises away and disappears for the rest of the game.

If the player chooses to play as Metal Sonic, the opposing Metal Sonic will appear as a greyscale version as reference to Sonic the Fighters.

Abilities and techniques

How to unlock super sonic in sonic heroes

Metal Sonic’s double jump ability is Hover, which allows him to float in the air at running speed while holding down the Jump button. He’s able to hover again after dropping from a hover. However, Metal Sonic will slowly descend if he isn’t moving during his hover. This allows Metal Sonic to fly through stages and find new routes that are inaccessible to vertically adverse characters, but requires still to stay at a constant latitude.

Metal Sonic is unique among playable characters in that he has an ability initiated by running at top speed for long enough, called Boost Mode. In Boost Mode, Metal Sonic will flash red and run much faster than usual. In this state, he can take out enemies, monitors, breakable walls, and spikes; run on water; and even take a hit on bosses. However, if speed is lost for even a second, like when taking a sharp turn or hitting a wall, Metal will leave Boost Mode and reenter it the next time he maintains steady speed. Boost Mode won’t initiate while Metal Sonic is hovering, but Metal Sonic can start a hover while in Boost Mode.

Just like his doppelganger, Metal Sonic can spindash; holding down the spindash for long enough is another way to initiate Boost Mode. His abilities make him a versatile character fit for expert players, and a viable option for running through stages at breakneck speeds. The best way to use Metal Sonic’s abilities for speedrunning is to combine the hover and Boost Mode: keep Boost Mode while on the ground whenever possible, so that you can hover over obstacles and hazards without compromising speed.

Since he is a robot, Metal Sonic is slightly more vulnerable to water than the other playable characters. Instead of drowning after 30 seconds without air, Metal Sonic’s circuits break after 25 seconds without air. He is also vulnerable to space hazards, just like the other characters.

Super Metal Sonic

If all 7 Chaos Emeralds are obtained, pressing Spin in the air with a minimum of 50 rings will have Metal transform into his super form. He, Sonic, and Knuckles are the only characters to have this ability. In this state, his speed and jump height are increased, and he becomes invincible to all hazards except for drowning, death pits, and getting crushed. His rings will drop down by one each second, which means that running out of rings reverts Metal back to his normal state.

When using god as Super Metal Sonic, his colors will change to resemble Hyper Sonic’s colors from Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
