How to be good at gears of war

Playing as a support player is probably one of the most important ways to play Gears of War. You simply cannot have a good team without the glue that sticks everything together.

The support player uses variety and moves with an aggressive team mate in order to reduce the options that the enemy player(s) have and make the job of the aggressive player much easier.

To be effective, you must have a good understanding of each situation, and quickly find the resolution that your team mate requires. This means that the support player has to have a decent amount of intelligence to be able to determine the best course of action to take.

The support player by default is probably most effective when using the lancer, and allowing the aggressive team mate use of the Gnasher to “force the issue” with the opponent.

The aggressive player on your team should try to avoid being too “gung-ho” and instead play with calculated risks that forces the hand of the enemy. (Staying out of one shot range is probably a good idea!)

The support player then has a fraction more time also to find the angle or find the answer to reducing the enemy threat, to allow either the support player or the aggressive player to get the kill.

The position of your player should be to add additional angles to an existing gun battle.

Sitting back a little in a withdrawn position using the lancer is a good way to rack up a lot of points and cause a lot of damage to the enemy, in relative safety.

However, whilst using the lancer a lot, you may also come unstuck with enemies spawning behind you or to the sides. This means you need to keep aware of more than just the one battle that is going on.

Your focus when not engaged in supporting team mates, should be on looking for enemies constantly and spotting, but not pursuing enemies yourself.

If the support player is lost in battle, then suddenly your team mates will be used to having that support and suddenly going in all guns blazing will likely result in them getting killed themselves too.

Good communication can avoid this from happening.

Can you be a good support player?

I feel like the new characters have had everything quite easy for them in the last few games, tactics included. I kinda want the myrrah/reyna Swarm queen to be as relentless as the original Myrrah by that I mean I want her to bring the Swarm to the level the locust were at in Gears of War 1 and to reintroduce the horror elements again. Kinda have new Ephyra like the Jacinto of this game the only safe haven that is well guarded.

The story starting off in a linked dream sequence from Marcus and Kait (to draw on the weird connection they had in 4) where we see past heroes like we did in 3 but it’s everyone who died alongside both characters ranging from Carlos Santiago to Del. Where they are fighting a mish mash of swarm, locust, creatures from the hollow and Lambent. They both wake up suddenly in different sides of the same trench that has been made a no mans land similar to verdun (bodies are gored and there are dead bodies from both sides strown around the place) by familiar faces. JD waking Kait with their squad outside (consisting of Fahz, (new character) (new character) and a new Jack). Baird waking Marcus with their squad outside (consists of Clayton, Sam, Cole, Paduk and a returning Jace Stratton).

The first act of prologue still consisting of Defending the trenches (have a remix of the locust theme to signify the swarms new found strength) with the end of the act resulting in having to find Scorpio squad who haven’t reported back to Hana and Hoffman. Simple yet something familiar, this branches open a choice of going as Kaits new Delta or Marcus’s old Delta (Easter egg audio cue of the guitar riff after defeating a couple locust from past games to confirm your selection).

(While it kinda rehashes some bits from older games it’s done in a way to bring veterans and new players back into a story that is similar to a traditional Gears of war game like how Halo infinite is doing with Halo 6, let me know in the comments and I’ll expand on another part of the idea I have for such a story)

Epic Games’ Rod Fergusson offers a few specifics on how to unlock bonus content, specifically weapon skins, in ‘Gears of War 3’ – by snagging certain achievements in the prior two entries.

Back in late 2010, Cliffy B revealed that gamers could unlock secret things in Gears of War 3 by playing other titles published by Epic Games. However, only a couple months later, news broke that these special unlocks would be limited to people that have played Gears of War 1 & 2. Now, to clarify things further, Rod Fergusson recently announced more details on what content players will be able to unlock in Gears of War 3.

Gears of War 3 is only a few months away from being released and Epic is preparing for what will almost assuredly be a record breaking launch. They hope to hype the series and build anticipation for the newest entry by offering incentives that encourage players to tackle the previous two Gears games.

Evidently, these unlockables will be based purely on achievements – because they are the easiest way for Epic to track a player’s progress. Unlocking goodies won’t solely be about reaching level 100 online, but rather getting certain achievements.

In a recent MTV interview with Rod Fergusson, executive producer at Epic Games, the developer clarified what players will be able to unlock:

“It’s mostly around weapon skins in terms of tying into historical stuff. Two of the ones. I guess we haven’t announced this but we have to announce it eventually, right? Two of the weapon skins are based on historical weapon skins, so if you want the gold lancer and the gold hammerburst in ‘Gears 3,’ you get them by owning the gold hammerburst and the gold lancer in ‘Gears 2,’ so those skins transfer over.”

It’s good that they are not offering anything that will affect the balance of the game. With a title that has such a faithful multiplayer following, offering unlockables that are anything more than cosmetic could be disastrous.

Fergusson went on to say that in addition to the gold skins, players will receive chrome weapon skins for obtaining certain achievements in Gears 1 & 2. In fact, the team at Epic already saw players with certain skins unlocked during the Gears of War 3 beta.

Two achievements that will unlock bonuses in Gears of War 3:

  • Rookie Gear (reach level five in Gears of War 2 multiplayer) – unlocks chrome hammerburst
  • Veteran Gear (reach level 100 and win a match on all 4 of the maps from the Gears of War 2 Snowblind DLC pack) — unlocks ?

Gears of War fans that don’t already have the necessary achievements unlocked, should get busy replaying the first two games so that they have all of the cool bonuses when the new game launches. The guys at Epic are.

“Some of us don’t have all the Gears 1 achievements. The ranked achievements are so hard. So we have a night planned where 20 of us are going to sit in a room and play Ranked Gears 1 just to get our achievements.”

Now that’s dedication.

Cliff Bleszinski may want to be remembered for more than the Gears of War franchise, but there is a big chance he will have trouble creating something that surpasses the popularity of the epic series. The upcoming third entry is not only one of Game Rant’s most anticipated games of 2011, but is also nominated for Best Shooter, Best Multiplayer, and Best in Show in our 2011 E3 Awards.

Do you have plans to revisit the older Gears of War games in order tao unlock goodies in Gears of War 3?

Gears of War 3 will be available exclusively for Xbox 360 on September 20, 2011.

Denis Villeneuve’s intricately built Dune universe will keep going in Part Two after a very successful release for Part One on all fronts.

Gears of War has been a well-known gaming franchise ever since its release and the game is played by a lot of players online every day. However, with the release of the latest game from the franchise, Gears of War 4, there has been an increase in the number of reports related to Gears of War 4 lag, high ping, disconnections and other related issues.

Gears of War 4 Lag

Players who have been experiencing Gears of War 4 lag have reported these issues appearing for no apparent reason and these users have been searching for a reliable solution to the problem on the internet with no end in sight.

How to be good at gears of war

Until the developers are hard at work to release a permanent fix for this problem, this guide is going to provide you with a few reliable solutions to help fix the lag.

Gears Of War PC Requirements

The first step that you should take in fixing this problem is to make sure that your current build meets the recommended system requirements for the game. The official recommended system requirements for the game can be seen below:

How to be good at gears of war

You should make sure that your computer meets these system requirements and upgrade your computer if you do not since this is one of the very basic requirements to meet when you want to fix the lag.

Graphics Settings

If upgrading your computer is not an option at this time, you can try tweaking the in-game graphics settings to see if you can fix this problem. A screenshot of the in-game graphics settings can be seen below:

How to be good at gears of war

You should start by reducing all of the above settings to their lowest possible values and then see if you are experiencing Gears of War 4 lag. If not, then work your way through the settings to find the best possible spot according to your current hardware and this should help you fix this issue for good.

Reinstall and Update The Game

Many people have been able to fix this and other related issues by reinstalling and updating the game to the latest available version. You should uninstall the game and then restart your computer first before reinstalling it again.

This might sound as a cumbersome and unnecessary step but considering how it has helped a lot of users fix Gears of War 4 Lag, it is recommended that you follow these instructions to fix this problem for good.

Gears of War Online Lag

A good internet connection is one of the essential requirements when it comes to playing games like Gears of War 4 online. This is why it is important to make sure that you have at least 4MBPS of upload and download speed available with no other device or program on your network that could be using the internet when you are playing online.

How to be good at gears of war

The reason behind this is that devices that are seemingly idle when connected to the network are hogging network resources thanks to automatic updates and downloads. This is why you should make sure that there are no other devices connected to your network when you are playing online and this should help you fix the lag.

Wired Internet Connection

Many people use a wireless internet connection today because of the freedom and the versatility of the connection but the problem with a wireless internet connection is that it is prone to Gears of War Online lag, packet loss and disconnections because of the way it transfers data to the server. While there are a lot of tweaks and fixes to the problem, the only real solution is to switch to a wired internet connection.

How to be good at gears of war

This is why you should make sure that you are on a wired internet connection when playing online and this has fixed lag for many people out there.

Use a Gaming VPN

When it comes to matters that are out of your hands, it is wise to use a professional gaming VPN, like Kill Ping to fix lag and other related problems. This is true in cases where you have tried the different solutions that have been mentioned above but still have not been able to fix the problem. In this case, the problem is usually because of a configuration problem on your ISP’s end, which Kill Ping is able to fix thanks to its network of dedicated servers around the world.

Considering how Kill Ping has been able to fix this and other related issues for many people out there right now, it is highly recommended that you download Kill Ping and check if you are able to fix Gears of War 4 lag. If not, let us know in the comments section and we will help you out.

How to be good at gears of war

Gaming since the early Intel 486 Days and have seen every gaming generation come and go since then. An editor by profession and a passionate gamer.

There have been a lot of great games in the Gears of War series but which one is the best overall?

Gears Of War is often considered to be one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. It started out in 2006, with Marcus Fenix at the helm of a powerful squad of humans fighting against the Locust Horde. Over the years (and six games) focus has moved gradually further from Fenix, and a variety of other enemies have been introduced. With these changes has, of course, come a lot of fluctuation in critical response and opinion amongst a constantly committed fanbase.

Taking everything from story to visuals to general playing experience, we’ve ranked all six of the main Gears Of War games below.

6 Gears Of War 4

Released back in 2016, Gears Of War 4 was a way for the franchise to reinvent itself after the conclusion of the main trilogy. It was the first installment of the game to not be developed by Epic Games, it was the first made available only on next-gen consoles, and it was the first to take our attention away from Marcus Fenix and towards a new generation of protagonists. It was and the first to show signs of a franchise dipping in quality.

Now, Gears Of Wars 4 is by no means a bad game, it’s just a disappointing Gears game. Set 25 years after the main trilogy and following Fenix’s son J.D., it loses some of the emotional connection we had been building for the last ten years. It also makes the fateful decision to introduce robots as enemies and force us to fight foes that are a million times less satisfying to kill than Locusts or Lambent. Still, it’s a lot of fun.

5 Gears Of War: Judgement

As a prequel (which followed a familiar character- Damon Baird), pretty much everyone was expecting a Gears game that didn’t quite match the quality of the three games that came before. That’s exactly what they got. What people didn’t expect, was to still find a rather brilliant game within. It wasn’t afraid to make changes to the franchise’s winning formula while also hitting us with a story that actually added a great deal to characters from the main franchise that were previously overlooked.

4 Gears Of War

The original Gears Of War game is the one that started it all, and has to be glorified thanks to the incredible impact on gaming its existence had. That said, it doesn’t hold up quite as well thanks to the advancements in technology that have arisen alongside its predecessors. The mechanics are a little clunky, certain weapons and characters we love from the future haven’t arrived yet, and the graphics aren’t great (unless you’re playing the remastered ‘Ultimate Edition’).

It’s still one of the best games ever, though. We meet our lovable protagonist and battle one of the most killable enemies in gaming over and over again on some truly masterful landscapes.

3 Gears 5

After the disappointment of Gears Of War 4, the franchise took the ‘Of War’ bit out of its name and made sure that we were thrown back in at the deep end of quality Locust-killing. The storyline follows straight on from Gears Of Wars 4 and the same characters are present, only now we have much more of a connection to them. Locusts are the primary enemy once more, gameplay is incredibly addictive and it has to be one of the most beautiful games ever made in terms of landscape. A true return to form that has us on the edge of our seats waiting for Gears 6.

2 Gears Of War 3

After the perfection of its predecessor, Gears Of War 3 had a huge amount riding on its shoulders. The story was written by Karen Traviss, who had already published a number of tie-in novels related to the franchise, so the journey of our heroes was always in safe hands.

Set two years after the destruction of Jacinto, Fenix and Delta Squad fight back against the Lambent, resulting in battle on a grand scale alongside the most emotional moment in the entire series. The frequent brightness of Gears Of War 3 contrasted the gloomy browns of the previous game, but it added a new angle to the destruction.

1 Gears Of War 2

Is Gears Of War 2 the greatest video game sequel of all time? Quite possibly. The Gears franchise had introduced itself two years earlier and impressed audiences with its large-scale warfare, beautifully destructive scenery, and interesting plot, so the second game in the franchise really had to cement its place in video game history. Luckily, it did that and more. Every act of the campaign is a masterpiece and you’d be hard pushed to find a single negative review of the game ever published. Possibly even more revolutionary was the introduction of Horde Mode. Epic Games didn’t invent anything here, but it was their exceptional usage of the survival mode that popularised the term and allowed it to be introduced into just about every multiplayer game that came afterward. From every angle, Gears Of War 2 is one of the best games of all time.

Those looking to go back and replay the Splinter Cell series will find that most of the games have aged quite well, while some definitely have not.

The Gears of War franchise is undoubtedly one of the most important titles in Xbox history, but which are its best and worst installments?

Since its explosive release for the Xbox 360 in 2006, the Gears of War series has been one of the gold standards in cinematic shooters. With its blend of thrilling multiplayer and epic campaigns, this franchise has long been an Xbox fan-favorite. It was a grittier, third-person alternative to the similarly popular shooter, Halo, with its satisfying finishers and smooth covering system. Still, this series has seen a turbulent history with ups and downs – much like the lands of Sera and its COG fighters.

Studios Epic, The Coalition, and People Can Fly have tweaked and refined the formula, while experimenting with new modes and mechanics. This has culminated with the more open-world Gears 5, as well as Splash Damage’s Real-Time Strategy (RTS) spin-off Gears Tactics. But which Gears is the best of the bunch, and which one is better off as cannon fodder for the Locust? Find out in this ranking of every Gears of War game, from worst to best.

Author’s Note: This list will offer a definitive ranking of each Gears entry. It will exclude the compilation pack Ultimate, which features a spruced-up version of the original Gears of War.

7 Gears Of War: Judgment (2013)

People Can Fly’s take on Gears of War was, to its credit, a neat experiment on the franchise, which was due for some fresh ideas. Still, the game mostly failed to hit its mark with fans, who weren’t keen on the tweaked mechanics and lack of strength-boosting Active Reloads. The campaign, which centered around a young Baird, mostly fell flat, as did most of the multiplayer options.

Still, the game at least had the interesting new OverRun mode – about the only redeeming factor for most. This mode offered a fun new twist on competitive romps, with its blend of action, tactical, and survival gameplay, and the ability to assume the roles of unique COG and Locust types.

6 Gears Of War 4 (2016)

Via The Coalition

Similar to the previous entry, The Coalition’s new spin on the Gears formula was a mixed bag. On the one hand, it was enjoyable playing a campaign showcasing a rebuilding Sera taking place several years after Gears 3. Yet, this is tempered with a few blemishes throughout. This includes what’s often considered to be lackluster writing, uninspired scenes, and robotic “DeeBee” foes that felt out of place.

The multiplayer aspect proved typically fun, though its abundance of explosives made for an overly chaotic experience at times. The smattering of technical issues certainly didn’t help either. But at the end of the day, Xbox One’s Gears debut has some gorgeous visuals and consistently appealing gameplay on the whole.

5 Gears Tactics (2020)

It’s tough to measure up to the greats when it comes to RTS games on the PC, with the gold standard of StarCraft and Age of Empires. While it doesn’t quite reach those lofty heights, Gears Tactics is a solid tactical squad game and an interesting new take on the IP.

Now, it remains to be seen whether this will translate smoothly to console via the upcoming Xbox One port. Regardless, this is an intuitive and fun experience on PC. With four squad members to control plus plenty of action and depth, there’s much to captivate players without being too overwhelming.

4 Gears 5 (2019)

While Gears 4 dipped its toes in new concepts, the bombastic Gears 5 isn’t shy about tweaking things in a major way – and it mostly succeeds. Though its open-world elements ring tepid to some, it’s refreshing that they exist at all. They break up the linear elements and allow for more freedom.

The game fleshes things out with various unlockables and customizations throughout. These come in the form of multiplayer goodies, as well as an upgrade system for the robotic companion, Jack. In addition to side quests, Jack adds a bit of depth and strategy to the solo mode. With an epic campaign centered around Kait Diaz, crazy weapon additions, and new multiplayer modes, there’s much to love about Gears 5.

3 Gears Of War (2006)

Put simply, there’s a reason this game got a spruced-up remaster a mere decade after its initial release. On the one hand, credit must be given for this groundbreaking, game-changing debut. In hindsight though, the original Gears of War feels a bit rough around the edge to modern eyes. One can’t help but feel that the joy from Gears 1 largely stems from nostalgia versus being objectively great, especially with its technical issues, spotty AI, and dull landscapes.

However, there’s something to be said about the simplicity of it all and the absence of the bells and whistles of future games. There are no fancy Diggers or Cryo Cannons here – just Boomshots, chainsaws, and shottys. Gears 1 balances grandiosity with accessible gameplay, and the multiplayer is still as fun as ever. assuming one can find anyone on its empty servers these days.

2 Gears Of War 3 (2011)

Following the renowned Gears 2, this 2011 release was perhaps one of the most hyped, anticipated games for Xbox 360. Did it deliver? Mostly. Epic’s final Gears game may not quite reach the spectacular levels of its predecessors and yet, there’s still plenty of that familiarly delightful gameplay to engage in.

Notably, Gears 3 didn’t push many boundaries like future sequels. For most fans, that was just fine because the refinements, larger scale, and awesome new weapons and maps were more than enough. With that said, Gears 3 does introduce the ever-pesky Lambent to add variance to the combat. Epic also revs up the campaign to absurd degrees and fleshes out the new Horde Mode with tactical elements.

1 Gears Of War 2 (2008)

This is truly Gears at its peak. It’s still not a flawless effort, but with such enjoyable gameplay, tightened-up mechanics, and memorable maps, it seemed a no-brainer to give the franchise’s first sequel the number one spot.

Who could forget those intense showdowns in the Ruin corridors, or the chaotic clashes in Jacinto? This superb level design extends to the campaign, with memorable scenes that include a journey through a huge Riftworm. This is enhanced with perhaps the darkest, most emotional narrative yet. The game takes the elements that work from the first game while fleshing things out and adding polish where needed.
