How to create a gaming computer

(BPT) – When it comes to serious gaming, immersion is the goal. You want to achieve a multi-sensory experience that pulls you into a game. Today’s modern consoles are a huge step forward in creating an immersive gaming experience, but to really elevate your PC gaming further, you need the best technology to bring your world to life.

Start with the basics

Invest in a gaming table to build out your setup. Unlike a standard desk, a gaming table is oriented to facilitate comfort and gaming for lengthy sessions. A good gaming table will also help you reduce clutter while safely housing all your tech, including your PC, mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers and more.

Next, any good gaming rig will have a high-quality chair that is comfortable and supportive. Look for ergonomic options that support your back and posture so you can feel confident you’ll be ache-free after hours of gaming. Plus, chairs designed for gaming are typically sleek and come in many eye-catching colors and designs to enhance the aesthetic of your setup.

Make it multisensory

If you’re striving for an immersive gaming experience, you must make updates that appeal to the senses of sight and sound. Start with a monitor targeted toward gamers so you can enjoy smooth and detailed visuals that bring the game to life. Then crank your experience up with gaming speakers that make you feel like you’ve been transported to another world.

Boasting proprietary 3D Gaming Sound technology, the LG UltraGear GP9 Gaming Speaker features an HRTF (head-related transfer function) algorithm to tailor a game’s audio according to its genre. This means you will experience stunningly detailed virtual surround sound complete with a realistic sense of space, position and directionality, all without a cumbersome headset.

As if rich, customizable sound isn’t enough, its functionality is sure to impress. The GP9 is a one-of-a-kind “voice chat” gaming speaker that allows you to communicate with other players without the need for separate headsets or microphones. The built-in mics utilize LG’s unique echo-cancellation algorithm that can distinguish a user’s voice from game sounds and background noises. Try pairing the speaker with one of LG UltraGear’s best-in-class gaming monitors and you’ll be on your A-game at all times.

NiceHash is a handy service that allows you to sell others your PC hardware to mine cryptocurrency. It’s possible to join mining pools to combine computing power and earn some Bitcoin in return by running this software. You can quite easily.

How to set up NiceHash

How to create a gaming computer

All you need is your gaming PC, so once that’s up and running, simply follow the steps below to start mining crypto (well . technically, it’s selling your PC hardware) and earning some Bitcoin.

  1. Register an account on the NiceHash website.
  2. Download the mining software.
  3. Run the NiceHash software.
  4. Enter your NiceHash address (double-check to make sure you enter it correctly).
  5. Optional: I recommend disabling the CPU under “Devices.”
  6. Hit the big play button.
  7. Profit.

I recommend disabling the CPU because it’s simply not worth it, in my opinion. It’s better to free up your CPU or power it down to save on consumption and allow your GPU to do all the heavy lifting. If you’re looking for the best mining GPU, we rounded up not only the best graphics card for gaming but also more affordable options for crypto mining.

How to store your crypto

As you begin to accumulate cryptocurrency from those paying for your system hardware, it’s time to consider where you’re going to store it. While it’s possible to leave it in your NiceHash wallet, I would recommend against this. Instead, download one of the many free wallet apps for your smartphone.

Once you’ve hit the minimum Bitcoin required to perform a transfer from NiceHash, you can send all your earnings to a wallet of your choosing, just in case your NiceHash account was to be compromised. You could even take this security a step further by investing in a physical wallet, which is a small offline device that stores all the necessary details to access your cryptocurrency.

How to optimize your PC for mining

While it’s certainly possible to load up NiceHash, set it all up and leave it running for years, it’s best to do a little tinkering to get the most out of your GPU without using too much electricity. If we can lower our consumption without affecting performance, we stand to make more profit.

MSI Afterburner is a great tool for altering GPU power, clock speed, and other values.

Lower GPU power draw

  1. Run MSI Afterburner.
  2. Lower the power limit to 80%.
  3. Hit the apply button.
  4. Start the NiceHash mining process.
  5. Take note of your hash rate (in MH/s) from the miner command line window.
  6. Lower the power limit in Afterburner a further 5%.
  7. Hit the Apply button.
  8. Take note of your hash rate again after 10 minutes.
  9. Continue steps 6-8 until you notice a drop in the hash rate or hit the minimum power limit allowed.

Change Windows 10 power settings

  1. Hit the Windows key.
  2. Type “power.”
  3. Choose “Power & Sleep” from the results.
  4. Change both drop-down menus to “Never.”

Scroll down and select “Additional power settings.”

Everything you need to build your own NAS setup (and what it will cost)

Running out of storage on your PC or laptop is the worst. Building your own network-attached storage (NAS) can help make sure you never have to experience misery.

How to create a gaming computer

For game enthusiasts and professional streamers alike, their gaming setup is their paradise. Previously, gamers didn’t care much about how their setup looked and had dark, messy rooms. Since then, millennials have developed a sense of aesthetics and are making their dimly lit computer gaming zone look cool and sophisticated. Here are some ways and tips to help you turn your gaming setup into an ergonomic center.

1. Cool and Ergonomic Gaming Desk

If you are a gamer who spends almost all of their days and nights in their gaming zone, it is crucial to have a comfortable and ergonomic gaming desk. It is your choice whether you want to have a standing desk or not but we suggest you get one. Standing a few times in an hour boosts your energy levels, which get drained after sitting for too long. Plus, there are certain video games that you cannot fully enjoy without standing and doing all those crazy actions.

You want a desk that has the perfect height with adjustable settings. It should be comfortable and help you maintain your eye-level and body posture with the screen. There are plenty of cool and sophisticated computed desks available. Make sure to get a monitor stand that is practical to use and looks good on your desk as well.

2. Cable Management is Necessary

When there are numerous monitors in a gaming setup, there is bound to be a lot of cabling. Despite their necessity, cables can make your room look cluttered, and a little daunting when left unorganized. Your gaming setup would look awful if the cable management is not good enough. There are tons of great products for cable management.

You can get a pack of inexpensive cable channels or IKEA cable management products to conceal all the wires beneath the desk. Most of these products come with hooks that clip the cables and hold them in place. There are cable sleeves with zippers or Velcro strip that wraps all your cables in a neat bundle without tangling them.

3. Light up Your Gaming Zone

Lighting is a crucial element that can make your gaming zone stand out. Following your style and budget, there are plentiful of lighting ideas you can choose from. Install a single colored LED strip behind your desk to give a nice glow to your gaming room. You can have one in blue, green and orange. Or, if you want to add more colors, install a multi-colored LED strip to give your room a neon, rainbow-like effect.

There are other creative ways to light up your gaming set up. Using Eddison’s bulb is a unique idea, and many gamers have used them to light their rooms for fun. If you want to go for a simple approach, then white lamps will look great in your gaming. White lamps can easily blend with any setup and can add a touch of elegance without disrupting the overall look.

If your budget is a little high and you are not afraid to go crazy with the lighting, there are lots of smart lights you can play with. If you don’t prefer lighting strips or lamps, then have light bar slits shinning on the sides of your monitor and illuminating the room. Go fancy with colored fans and lighting panels that change color with music following the rhythm and beat.

4. Accessorize Your Gaming Zone

To have an awesome gaming zone setup, accessorize it to make it cooler and more practical for you. Begin with a nice keyboard and mouse pad. You can have separate pads for both or have a large one that keeps both. When you have to work or play video games in the dark, it is necessary to have glow in the dark keyboard keys. Or you can have keyboards with built-in LED lights that are becoming very popular these days.

Get a headphone stand so that your desk doesn’t look cluttered with huge headphones lying all over the place. They are super convenient and make your desk look cool. You can also have a wireless smartphone charger on your desk so that your phone doesn’t run out of power.

Get a USB hub under the desk, especially if the monitor is out of your quick reach. You can also charge your phone with a USB hub if you do not have a wireless charger.

Your gaming desk doesn’t have to look boring. There is nothing wrong with having a little fun with your gaming desk. Show your love for games and movies and add a figurine of your favorite anime character, superhero or villain to your desk. For instance, if you are a Star Wars fan, keeping a pop-up figure of Darth Vader by your monitor is a good idea.

It may sound a little out of place, but you can accessorize your gaming zone with small plants too. Simple small potted plants can accessorize any room and won’t look odd in a gaming room. If you don’t think you are responsible enough to have a plant in your room, then fake plants will do the same job.

5. Keep it Clean and Clutter-Free

Remember, dust and clutter is your enemy. You have to take care of these two when you want a spectacular gaming room. Make sure to keep your desk organized. Some of the accessories mentioned here would you keep your desk clutter-free.

Dust gets everywhere. You don’t want your new desk, awesome lighting, and spectacular glowing keyboard top get all dusty and look drab. So make sure to wipe your gaming setup once a week.

Wrapping Up

To have a stunning gaming zone, get a desk with cable management and smart lights. You can go fancy with lighting to create a striking visual if your budget allows. Have fun with accessorizing and keep your gaming area clean and clutter-free.

How to create a gaming computer

If you want a PC that you can access from anywhere, you should give cloud PCs a shot. You can get one to have access to your files wherever you are or even hire a beefy gaming PC so you can play games that your current computer would never dream of running.

What if you could just hire a cloud PC and tweak it to your liking? Fortunately, you can with a little help from an online service and the Parsec application.

How to Set Up a Cloud PC

First, you need to find a service that gives you access to a cloud PC. There are many options available, such as Amazon AWS; however, for the sake of this article, we use Paperspace, as it is easier to set up and manage. However, feel free to replace this part of the tutorial with your cloud PC setup of choice.

When you arrive on Paperspace, go ahead and create an account. Once you’re done, you’ll be given the option of a Gradient or Core PC. Choose Core.

How to create a gaming computer

Select the data center closest to your physical location.

How to create a gaming computer

Scroll down from the location selector, and you’ll see options to set up a rig. If you want to play games on your computer, go to “Choose OS,” click the “Public Templates” tab, then select “Parsec.” If you don’t see this or don’t want a gaming rig, create a regular computer.

How to create a gaming computer

Scroll down until you can select the PC you want to use. You’ll see a list of different PCs with a range of hardware specifications. You’ll also see that the more powerful computers are greyed out.

How to create a gaming computer

If you want to play games, you’ll want one of the greyed out PCs. To unlock one, click it, then tell Paperspace what you want to use it for. I managed to get a gaming PC just by saying that I’ll use it for gaming. It’ll take a little while for your PC to be approved.

How to create a gaming computer

Once you’ve selected your PC, scroll down to select how many you want and how you’ll pay. Then, click “Create Your Paperspace.”

Improving the Latency to Your Cloud Computer

If you chose your own cloud PC setup, you may find that the tools they give you to use your PC work fine for you. However, some users, especially gamers, will lament at how laggy and slow everything feels, especially if you’re using Paperspace in a browser.

To solve this, we need a tool that can reduce the latency between us and the cloud PC. We can use the Parsec program to help keep the latency down and have a better time with our cloud PC.

Parsec wasn’t originally designed for remote PC use. It was more meant to help two people play local co-op games together. The idea is, one person acts as the host, and the other connects to them via Parsec. Then, Parsec allows the person connecting to play games on the host’s PC even if it doesn’t have an online mode.

Also read: GeForce Now vs. Stadia vs. Shadow: Who’s King of the Cloud?

Even if you don’t play games, Parsec is useful for connecting to a cloud PC with little latency. To use it, first, download Parsec from the website, create an account, then run it on your PC and sign in.

You’ll have an interface through which you can connect to another PC. However, if you’re looking at Parsec from your cloud PC, you’ll see nothing here. After all, you don’t have any other PCs connected yet!

How to create a gaming computer

On your main PC, download Parsec. Once you have, you’ll see two PCs on Parsec. On your main computer, click the connect button for your cloud PC.

How to create a gaming computer

You’ll see the cloud PC’s desktop appear on Parsec. Now you’re remotely controlling the cloud PC from the comfort of your own!

You should also note that Parsec has an Android app, too. This means you can access your cloud PC (and your home computer, too) no matter where you are.

If you’re using a Paperspace PC, be sure to shut it down before you close Parsec. Because Paperspace charges by the hour, leaving the PC on can accrue a nasty bill. Shutting the PC down puts it offline and stops the hours from adding up.

If you want a cloud PC, whether for work or for gaming, it’s easy to make your own. All you need is a cloud service provider and Parsec, and you’re ready to go! However, if all you need is a place to store your files online, check out our list of the best online storage providers or create your own online storage service with Nextcloud.
