How to disable voicemail on android

A phone’s home screen that’s filled with unread notifications can be an eyesore. The bulk of these push notifications are from apps, your phone carrier, or other services you’re subscribed to. One of them is the Android Voicemail notification, which may not be of an immediate priority.

If you’ve come across it, you’ve probably attempted to dismiss it by listening to all voicemails, rebooting, or even deleting data, but it persists.

We’re going to show you how to get rid of it.

Why Android Voicemail Notification Appears

The Android Voicemail notification is a cool feature that reminds you when you have a new voicemail.

It’s a good way of helping you catch up on messages you may have missed. However, it may appear even when you don’t have voicemails, or if your service provider has marked it as unread.

In the latter case, the device did receive the notification from your carrier or network, but all messages have been marked as unread even if you have checked them. The only way to manage this is to remove the icon manually by forcing your device to check for the message again.

Perhaps you’ve tried to swipe it or click and hold on the notification. However, you find only two options — set priority and hide content. While you may be able to turn off the two options, the voicemail notification may still appear.

If nothing seems to get rid of the sticky Android Voicemail notification on your phone, read on to find out how to remove it.

Leave a New Voicemail

This is a simple workaround you can do to refresh the voicemail notification icon on your Android device. Once done, go back to your voicemail box and delete the message you left to remove the notification.

If you notice that the voicemail icon still appears in the notification tray, try the next solution.

I’m not sure if you can; voicemail is included as part of your service. To disable it, I believe you need to call customer service and have them do it. 800-922-0204, or *611 from your cell phone – choose option 4, then say “Agent” at the prompt for the reason for your call. That should get you to a live person in a couple of minutes.

How to disable voicemail on android

I don’t think you can disable online. You can call customer service at 1-800-922-0204 from a landline or *611 from your VZW phone and ask them to disable the voicemail feature.

I’m most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

If this is a brand new line, I have heard if you never setup the voicemail in the first few months of service the voicemail feature is automatically dropped. This information is several years old so I would verify its validity.

How to disable voicemail on android

Voicemail is such an essential feature, but many people don’t have it set up simply because they don’t think about it. Unless you typically call back every missed call, it’s helpful to allow important callers to leave a voicemail so you know who you need to call back and who might be a telemarketer. It takes less than five or 10 minutes to set up your voicemail system. It’s worth it. Check out how easy the process is to set up voicemail on Android phones.

How to set up voicemail on Android

How to disable voicemail on android

First, you’ll want to open up your built-in Phone app. Get to the dial screen and press and hold the number 1 to start a call to your voicemail service. If you have already set up your voicemail, you will be prompted for your PIN; you can reset your PIN if you’ve forgotten it, but the process varies by provider.

If you haven’t set up your voicemail, you will hear a message that states, “No voicemail number is stored on the card.” Follow the prompts you hear to complete setting up the voicemail service on your Android phone. After you complete your voicemail setup, try pressing and holding 1 again and verify that your voicemail is working correctly with the password you chose.

Then you’re ready to receive voicemails! If you also have the Visual Voicemail app, which natively comes with most new Android devices, you’ll see a notification pop up for this app when you get a voicemail. Personally, I prefer to manage my voicemails in the Visual Voicemail app instead of dialing in to hear and manage my voicemails.

        Here are step-by-step instructions:

        1. Open the Phone app.
        2. Press and Hold number 1 to call your voicemail service.
        3. You will be asked for a PIN if your voicemail is already set up. You can reset it if you forgot it.
        4. If you haven’t set up your voicemail, you’ll hear a message saying, “No voicemail number is stored on the card.”
        5. Follow instructions to set up your voicemail.
        6. Hang up.
        7. Press and hold the number 1 again. Enter your PIN. You’re set!

What is the Visual Voicemail app?

How to disable voicemail on android

You can find the Visual Voicemail app on many Android phones; it provides an easy way to receive and organize your voicemail messages. You can check your voicemail without having to make a phone call and enter your passcode or PIN. • Visual voicemail on different SIMs is displayed in separate tabs.
          • If you change your data SIM, you may have to re-enable visual voicemail.
          • If you remove a SIM, cached data is kept but you can’t switch tabs between SIMs. If you turn off a SIM, the cached data for that SIM is deleted and you can’t switch tabs between SIMs.

Google will launch the long-awaited, new, upgraded Android 11 version on June 3 2020. The new setup is expected to take the tech game a notch higher, bringing in brand new features that are guaranteed to excite many enthusiastic users of the product. Even with this new development, the messaging feature is especially of interest to many since it is a common feature used on a day-to-day basis.

Deleting Voicemail Messages on Your Android 11

In these modern times, when we can get lots of information punched on simple text messages, most people hate the idea of having to deal with “outdated” voicemail messages. In fact, many ask: what can be done to turn off the bothersome messages?

You do not have to call your service provider or visit a retail outlet to do this. There are some simple ways you can use to turn off the messages without a hassle.

Let us explore a few of these:

          Option I

Use the “No More Voicemail app”:

This app will work reasonably well with your Android 11. The app typically provides users with a code to set up a feature known as the “conditional call forwarding.” Basically, the app is designed in such a way that once you don’t answer, your caller will keep hearing a ringing tone that never ends. That is the general secret to putting an end to voicemail messages.

Follow the steps to set up the “No More Voicemail.” Remember that you will primarily need to launch the “No More Voicemail App”, key in your email address, and adhere to the instructions displayed on your Android 11 screen. Further, the instructions provided will direct you to call a specific phone number and, thus, activate the call forwarding mechanism.

You can get the app in the Google Play Store.

This is how to download, install and set it up:

Go to “Google Play Store.” In the search bar, type “No More Voicemail.” The app will appear. Tap on out. Click on “Install.” Follow the prompts and select “Accept.” Open the icon for “No More Voicemail.” Select “Get Started.” You will find this in the bottom section of the screen. Enter your email address. This is what you will use for the newly created account for “No More Voicemail.” Click on “Sign Up,” “Setup,” then “Call Activation Code.” This instantly prompts your Android 11 to call a specific number. Click on “Confirm Call” and allow time for this call to disconnect and revert to the “No More Voicemail.” Tap on “I confirm I followed the Steps.”

Now, you are sure your voicemail inbox will no longer be jammed with messages.

          Option II

On your Android 11, go to settings. You can do this starting the procedure from “the pull-down notification” feature. Alternatively, you can go to the “App Drawer” and “launch Settings”. Open the “Settings App”, navigate downwards and select “Apps.” In case you determine that the tab located on the upper part of the “Apps Screen” is not set to the “All Apps,” make sure you fix it. You will find a list containing all the apps, as indicated by the “All Apps” tab. This list will quickly display on your phone or tablet.

Navigate downwards again and click on the “Phone App.” On locating the app’s information page, click on “Storage Menu.” Click on “Clear data” box. You will find it under “Storage.” When a prompt comes up to ask if you are sure, confirm this by clicking on “OK.” With this, the process is over; you will not get the unwanted voicemail messages.

Regardless, sometimes you may receive the icon for voicemail notification even if there is no voicemail on the inbox. You can follow this process to remedy this: Click on and keep holding the icon for “voicemail notification” (it is located on the notification bar). The menu on “App information” will come up. Tap on it.

On the following tab, you will find some information on the “Phone app”. Click on the button for “Force Stop.” The voicemail notification will instantly disappear.

Another alternative is to go to “Settings” then “Apps.” Select “Phone.” Tap on the button for “Force Stop.” The notifications should instantly clear.

          Option III

Click on the “Voice App.” Open the “App”. Go to the “Voicemail tab.” Open it. Click on “More.” Click on the box for “I understand”. Finally, “Delete.”

          Option IV

Simply call your voice mail. Pump up the mail space with lots of music until it is full. Make sure the mailbox is actually full. To keep it full, take care that you do not accidentally delete the recorded music.

Up to this point, voila! You are guaranteed the voicemail messages are no more. Caution: In case the messages have a cut-off time, you may have to repeat this process a few times.

Hopefully, you are now fully insulated from the voicemail messages and ready to enjoy the features on your Android 11.
