Don’t you just hate it when you buy a cosplay online and certain items don’t fit? Me too. That’s exactly the problem I had when I purchased my Junko Enoshima cosplay from Wish. I knew that it was going to be a gamble on whether it would be any good, but unfortunately it didn’t pay off as much as I hoped. Especially when the core part of said cosplay didn’t fit me; her jacket.

Being the creative person that I am, I didn’t want the hassle of sending everything back and decided to try and make my own version of Junko’s jacket and blouse. It was going to be quite a challenge coming from someone who knows very basic sewing and DIY methods to change clothes; but it was a challenge I knew I needed to take.

So in this blog post, I’m going to be breaking down step by step exactly how I made my own Junko Enoshima jacket.

The Base Jacket

How to cosplay as junko enoshima

As the jacket in the cosplay didn’t fit me, I knew I needed one that would. So I did some research online and unfortunately couldn’t find a blazer that was perfect for me to use as my base. When I changed my search to a regular blouse (after finding this video by Midnight Pursona, who did an INCREDIBLE Beta Junko cosplay), I found my perfect base on Boohoo*.

How to cosplay as junko enoshima

Junko has a white blouse underneath her jacket, but you can only see certain parts of it. With that in mind, I decided to attach certain parts of a white blouse to the black blouse to get the look as accurate as possible. I did this with an old white blouse from Select that I was planning to throw out. I cut out the collar, the rolled up sleeves and the bottom parts of the blouse ready to attach onto the black blouse. I cut a little bit more fabric off than I needed just in case I made a mistake in attaching some of it. Before I did anything else, I gave them a quick iron to smooth out the creases in the fabric.

How to cosplay as junko enoshima

After marking on my black blouse where I was going to cut, I went and cut the balloon sleeves off just below my elbows. Taking the ends of the sleeves, I rolled them up just past my elbows and pinned the fabric in place. With everything secured down, I took a hot glue gun and glued everything down within an inch of its life. Once I was happy with how they came out, I took the sleeves and collar I had and hot glued them down too.

There were a few times where I messed up (I glued one of the sleeves shut at one point), but for a starting base, I was very pleased!

The Buttons

My base jacket originally came with four small black buttons, whereas Junko’s jacket has got three big red ones. I decided to hot glue these onto the original buttons and made the button slits on the other side a bit wider so the red buttons would fit. It took a few tries to securely get them on as one button kept falling off, but they were done in the end. I left the smallest black button as it was since it blended in with the jacket nice enough.

The Jacket Patterns

On the original jacket I recieved, there were a few patterns missing. But the ones that were there were great to use as references on my new jacket. I simply decided to go over these with some white acryllic paint (although I did draw them out very faintly with my NYX Jumbo Pencil first to get a pattern). The pins she has on the very bottom of her jacket was something I wanted to purchase since I didn’t want to draw them on. I haven’t been able to find anything online so I may make the pins myself but we’ll see how that goes!

How to cosplay as junko enoshima

Overall, I’m super happy with the result of this jacket! I’m now able to fully become the tiny Junko Enoshima I always wanted to be. It’s a lot less restrictive than the jacket I was originally sent and considering this was my first time altering some clothing, it could have gone way, way worse.

Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to go find some Japanese school kids and put them in a killing game. Because despair.

Danganronpa cosplay is inspired by a video game that has attained great popularity since its first release in 2010, gathering a huge legion of fans from all over the world.

Where To Buy Danganronpa Cosplay Costumes:

Its plot revolves around a bunch of students who are suddenly trapped inside a school and forced to participate in a killing game. Basically, they will have to murder one another and avoid getting discovered by their peers as the killer. If they manage to do this, they might be able to get out of there alive.

One of the most appealing parts of this series are their unique, crazy, and witty characters. In fact, its character designs and sharp writing is what makes the story stand out.

Therefore, many fans enjoy cosplaying Danganronpa characters. However, they are so many of them that it becomes hard to choose. So, this article will hopefully give you an idea of the top Danganronpa characters to cosplay when you get the chance!

10 Korekiyo Shinguji Cosplay

Kokekiyo is actually quite unpopular as a character (a bit unfair if I might say) but he’s definitely worth cosplaying as! Honestly, his design just catches your eye because of its uniqueness.

First, the dark colour scheme and his military clothes makes him seem very alluring and mysterious. Besides, the many red and white details in his outfit really come alive when surrounded by such darkness.

To me, his creepy mask is what ties his whole look together. Definitely a Danganronpa cosplay worth considering!

9 Kyoko Kirigiri Cosplay

Kyoko is one of the most renowned characters of the series and she’s also one of the best to cosplay.

She has a beautiful and elegant anime outfit and still manages to look like a total rebel! Her long lavender hair with a single braid is very original (you would need an awesome cosplay wig to emulate it!). What distinguishes her clearly from other characters are her custom-made black studded gloves that she wears all the time.

Besides, she’s definitely one of the most interesting people of the bunch and also really smart!

8 Ibuki Mioda Cosplay

Not surprisingly, many fans ended up getting attached to this music-loving chick. Why “not surprisingly”, you ask? Well, she has an upbeat, bold and quirky personality that makes her stand out. And her sense of style is awesome too! In fact, she creates her own stage costumes in order to be more unique.

In her usual style, she basically adapted the traditional sailor uniform to her own taste. And it suits her perfectly! Even though this Danganronpa cosplay would require many details, I’m sure you would turn heads wherever you went!

7 – Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu Cosplay

This guy is a truly tough gangster even though he has such a cute face and short build! In fact, he belongs to a distinguished Yakuza family!

About his outfit, he has definitely the classiest clothes of the bunch. And he’s also a relatively easy character to cosplay!

As long as you find the right Danganronpa costume to emulate his well-tailored clothes, you’ll have ready about 90% of the Danganronpa cosplay. Also, it’s really important that you get the right wig and its details.

6 – Chiaki Nanami Cosplay

Chiaki has a quiet and sleepy personality which makes her one of the cutest girls of the whole series! Plus, she’s also a huge gamer!

Honestly, I adore Chiaki’s design because of how unique it is. She looks just like an innocent school girl and that must be her appeal in a game about murders.

Her slightly-curved hair, her adorable uniform, her long socks and her cat-like backpack are the main characteristics of her look. If you’re thinking of cosplaying as Chiaki Nanami, don’t forget to buy her a hairclip since that’s a very important detail!

5 – Hiyoko Saionji Cosplay

Most people dislike Hiyoko because of her personality and attitudes. But surprisingly, she’s one of the most cosplayed Danganronpa characters. I think this might be because her design is just too cute and charming! Plus, she does have an angelic face.

The most important part of Hiyoko Saionji’s outfit is her orange kimono so pay attention to its patterns and details if you want to cosplay as her! Besides, her long twin tails require that you either buy a great wig or make one yourself. But be careful since making this particular wig will be a really hard work!

She also has variations in her anime outfit so you can choose what suits you the best!

4 – Gundham Tanaka Cosplay

Gundham is incredibly well-written and personally, he’s one of my favourites. He’s just a mix of charisma, cuteness, dorkiness and charm that makes you very attached to him! He also has a complex design and that would make him such a wonderful cosplay.

His long black jacket and his school uniform are fundamental parts of this look. The details are what makes him so appealing, thus I would advise you to be mindful of those. Also, use make-up to make yourself look paler and with more of his features.

And please, don’t forget to get some fake hamsters to represent his cute little companions!

3 – Celestia Ludenberg Cosplay

This girl has probably one of the most complex looks to recreate. Even though she has a questionable personality, her gothic-lolita style outfit is elegant and it’s amazingly detailed.

Her most distinguishable features are definitely her hair and her beautiful clothes.

I mean, just look at her! She’s incredibly well-designed and she’s most certainly worthy of being cosplayed. Besides, she has “darkness” in her that makes her seem quite strange and mysterious.

2 – Kokichi Ouma Cosplay

Ouma is arguably the most popular character of Danganronpa because of his deep (and fun!) personality and his importance in the series. Therefore, this loving brat is also one of the most cosplayed characters by the Danganronpa fans. His outfit is simpler than others, without it being oversimplified at all! He seems to mix the punk style and the gothic style, which is pretty cool if I might say.

The most important part of his look is definitely the white suit with straps wrapped around his arms and legs.

If you get yourself these clothes (making them is actually really easy!) and a realistic wig, you’re ready to cosplay one the best characters of Danganronpa!

1 – Junko Enoshima Cosplay

Finally, Junko Enoshima is the most cosplayed Danganronpa character of all time. And this is not an opinion, she actually is! Not to mention how dear she is to many of the series’ fans.

Her outfit looks awesome and it’s very different from anything I’ve ever seen. She looks cute, sexy and like a total badass all at the same time!

Besides, since she has multiple personalities, her appearance changes slightly according to that. Therefore, you may accessorize and personalize your Junko Enoshima cosplay as you best see fit!
