The WhatsApp iOS app doesn’t work on iPad. It’s only available on the App Store for iPhone users. It won’t work on any iPad right now, until WhatsApp decides to launch an iPad version of the app.

However, you can get WhatsApp to work via the web interface and a small workaround method that works via the iPad’s Safari browser. It’s not perfect, but it’s an option.

Setting up WhatsApp Web on your iPad doesn’t take long. Here’s how to get get started.

Any iPad with an internet connection will work with WhatsApp Web, although the instructions are slightly different depending on the age of your iPad.

Open Safari and go to web.whatsapp.com.

The website will display a QR code to pair it with your iPhone.

iPads that don’t support iPadOS include the original iPad Air, iPad Mini 3 and below, and iPad 4th generation and older.

Open Safari and go to web.whatsapp.com.

Tap and hold the refresh icon to the right of the website address.

Tap the name of the person you want to message.

Tap the Type a message dialog box.

Type your message, then tap the arrow to send it to your friend.

Another option you have in WhatsApp is “view once” messages, which expire once the recipient has opened them. To use this feature, you must turn this feature on before you send each text or image, meaning you can’t just turn it on and automatically make everything “view once.”

View-once messages expire after 14 days if nobody reads or views them, and neither you nor the person you send them to can save, forward, or star (favorite) them.

As a smartphone app, WhatsApp messages are principally exchanged between iPhones and Android phones, but WhatsApp is known to be developing an iPad app that would increase the number of active devices on the chat platform.

While the iPad app has yet to to launch, it is already possible to use WhatsApp on an ‌iPad‌ via the web without the iPhone associated with your account having to be connected to the internet. Keep reading to learn how it works.

    WhatsApp on iPad

Previously, the WhatsApp mobile app was required to authenticate an account used on another device, such as a computer, and it used a QR code to link a user account to a web browser. While that initial link is still required, the connected phone that has the WhatsApp app on it is no longer required once the link has been made, which means you can continue to use WhatsApp on your ‌iPad‌ without needing your smartphone.

The following steps show you how to link your WhatsApp account to your ‌iPad‌ using the service’s new Multi-Device support, currently in beta.

    1. Launch WhatsApp on your ‌iPhone‌.
    2. Select Settings -> Linked Devices.
    3. Tap Multi-Device Beta, then tap the blue Join Beta button.
    4. Tap Back and select Link a Device on the previous screen.

  • On your ‌iPad‌, open Safari or another web browser and go to web.whatsapp.com, then scan the QR code that appears using your ‌iPhone‌.
  • After following these steps your device will be linked to your WhatsApp account, and you’ll be able to access WhatsApp on your ‌iPad‌ to send and receive messages and view chat threads, without needing to rely on your phone being connected to the internet.

Bear in mind that it’s not currently possible to delete WhatsApp messages or conversation threads from your ‌iPad‌. It’s also worth noting that you won’t get new message notifications on your ‌iPad‌ when you’re not using the web app. On the plus side, personal calls and messages remain end-to-end encrypted across devices.

If you don’t use your ‌iPhone‌ for over 14 days, your ‌iPad‌ will be disconnected. Lastly, given that the feature is still in beta, WhatsApp cautions that the performance and quality of its service may be affected, although happily, users can leave the beta at any time.

You can’t use Whatsapp on iPad as it wants a phone number but now there is no limitation so learn how to install Whatsapp on iPad without iPhone.

Once you start using WhatsApp it is difficult to do without it. The reason for this is its use of simplicity. It allows you to send and receive text, pictures and videos.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Whatsapp is free to use on any device whether it is android or ios. So, it is no surprise that you want to be able to use it on your iPad as well. Unfortunately it is not available to iPad users though iPhone users can use it. This is because WhatsApp requires a phone number.

But just because WhatsApp doesn’t have a version for iPad it should not be a deterrent to installing it on your device. There are roundabout ways to go about it. In some methods your iPad has to be jailbroken. In the following method you can install WhatsApp on iPad without iPhone or jailbreaking.

You will need a Mac or PC though to follow this method. So this is how you do it.

    • On your PC or Mac go to iTunes and to the iTunes store. In the search field type in WhatsApp. On the iPhone list you will find WhatsApp Messenger.
    • Download the free version. It will be quite fast.
    • Depending on the OS used go to the music folder.
    • Click on iTunes.
    • You will go straight to Mobile Applications or iTunes Media and then Mobile Applications. Again this depends on the OS you are using.
    • Now you can see a list of ipa files. Find the WhatsApp ipa file and transfer it to the desktop.
    • Next you have to attach the iPad to the Mac or PC.
    • You will need an app called iFunbox or something similar to manage the files you are going to transfer to your iPad. Download it.
    • Launch the iFunbox
    • You can see many icons. Just click on WhatsApp ipa file.
    • Again the installation is quite fast and you will be able to see the WhatsApp icon on the iPad.

Though you have installed WhatsApp on your iPad you cannot start using it straight away. You have to register with WhatsApp and for this you will require an iPhone. Using another phone will not work. It has to be an iPhone. If you don’t have one you can borrow from someone just for this part.

You will have to install WhatsApp on your iPhone. If it is already installed then uninstall it and re-install the app. As per their instruction register with your phone number and then get the code that they send. This code has to be entered as confirmation for registering WhatsApp.

Now remove the iPad from the Mac or PC and attach the iPhone. Again go to the iFunbox app. You will find a folder with User Application when you click on iPhone folder. Click on the icon for WhatsApp. You will find the Library and Documents folders. Transfer these folders to the desktop. These contain the data that is required for registration.

Again re-attach the iPad to the Mac or PC after removing the iPhone. Go to iFunbox to iPad and then to User Applications and there click on WhatsApp. You will find the Library and Documents folder here. Just replace it with the ones that you have on the desktop. Now you can disconnect it from the Mac. Restart iPad. Send the confirmation code and you are ready to use WhatsApp.

    • You can use WhatsApp on your iPad, even though the messaging platform doesn’t have an app for the device.
    • To use WhatsApp on your iPad, you’ll have to go to the web browser version and scan a QR code on your iPhone to connect WhatsApp on both devices.
    • Once you scan the code, you’ll be logged into WhatsApp on your iPad and can use the web browser version to send messages — but you won’t be able to make calls.
    • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

WhatsApp is a popular messaging app that sends encrypted messages. It also allows users to make international or domestic calls over the internet, and create large messaging groups.

WhatsApp — which is owned by Facebook — has not created a version for the iPad. You can easily connect to WhatsApp on your iPad through a web browser and your iPhone, but there are some limitations.

You’ll need to have your iPhone connected to the internet to use WhatsApp on your iPad, and you’ll only be able to send messages (not voice or video calls) from the browser version.

Here’s how to set up WhatsApp on an iPad.

iPad (From $329.99 at Best Buy)

How to use WhatsApp on your iPad

If you don’t already have a WhatsApp account, you’ll need to set one up before you can use the messaging app on your iPad. Then open a new tab in a web browser — like Safari or Google Chrome — on your iPad and follow these steps.

    1. Go to web.whatsapp.com. The WhatsApp web interface will appear.

    2. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone. Tap Settings at the bottom right of your screen to bring up the Settings menu. Tap WhatsApp Web/Desktop.

    3. Move your phone in front of your iPad to scan the QR code on the iPad screen. If the QR scan screen doesn’t come up automatically, tap Scan QR code.

    4. Once the scan is successful, this screen lets you know you’ve connected another device to WhatsApp.

    5. Now you can view and respond to WhatsApp messages on your iPad. Note that this is done through the connection with your phone, so your WhatsApp messages won’t live on your iPad.

If you want to log out of WhatsApp on your iPad, you have to log out of all devices and then log back in on your phone.

You can do this by tapping “Log out from all devices” on the Web/Desktop settings screen and then choosing “Log out” from the box that pops up.

IF you love WhatsApp you may want to have it on more than just your smartphone.

Follow our easy guide below to download WhatsApp on your iPad.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

How to get WhatsApp on your iPad

The great thing about WhatsApp is you only really need WiFi or data and a compatible device to use it.

One of the drawbacks is there isn’t actually an official WhatsApp app for iPad.

The good news is there is a workaround for this if you already have WhatsApp on your phone.

Go to Safari on your iPad and type in web.whatsapp.com.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

This page should display a QR code and some instructions.

Go to WhatsApp on your iPhone, click “Settings” and then “WhatsApp Web/Desktop”.

You’ll then see an option called “Scan QR Code”.

Click this and then scan the QR code that you can see on your iPad screen.

The page should then reload as your WhatsApp and you can continue your conversations on a bigger screen.

There are a few small limitations like not being able to send voice notes and not getting notifications via Safari.

    WhatsApp – a quick history

Here’s what you need to know.

    • WhatsApp was created in 2009 by computer programmers Brian Acton and Jan Koum – former employees of Yahoo
    • It’s one of the most popular messaging services in the world
    • Koum came up with the name WhatsApp because it sounded like “what’s up”
    • After a number of tweaks the app was released with a messaging component in June 2009, with 250,000 active users
    • It was originally free but switched to a paid service to avoid growing too fast. Then in 2016, it became free again for all users
    • Facebook bought WhatsApp Inc in February 2014 for $19.3billion (£14.64bn)
    • The app is particularly popular because all messages are encrypted during transit, shutting out snoopers
    • As of February 2020, WhatsApp has over 2billion users globally

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Much to the dismay of WhatsApp users around the world, the company has yet to release an iPad app. For years the WhatsApp app has been near the top of the App Store charts as one of the most popular chat apps around the world. For one reason or another, WhatsApp and its parent company, Facebook, would prefer users stick to the iPhone. But don’t despair, as there is a way to use WhatsApp on the iPad without any hacking, jailbreaking or modifying of your iPad. The best part? It only takes a few minutes to get started.

    WhatsApp Web

    1. The first step is to open your Safari browser. Simple so far, right? Don’t worry, it doesn’t get any tougher.

    2. Now, type web.whatsapp.com in your Safari search bar and hit “Go.” You will notice right away that you don’t land on the dedicated web portal. Instead, you land on the company’s home page. That is okay because we’re going to reload the page in “Desktop” mode.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    3. At the very left end of the search bar in Safari you’ll see an “aA” icon – press and hold on these letters. A long press will bring up a series of options, one of which is “request desktop website.” Tap on that option.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    4. As the page reloads, anyone who has previously used the web portal will see a familiar site. Three short options appear on the page giving you directions on how to use WhatsApp on your computer.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    5. First, you need to open WhatsApp on your iPhone, tap the settings in the bottom menu and select WhatsApp Web/Desktop in the menu that appears. Android users can tape the three-dot menu icon and hit WhatsApp Web.

    6. Using either device, scan the QR code with the rear camera of your smartphone. Immediately after the QR code scans, you’ll immediately see all of your WhatsApp history on the screen.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    7. That’s it. You are now able to chat away using the full functionality of the desktop WhatsApp platform right on your iPad.

    Limitations

Now, before you move on to creating a shortcut, there are a few limitations of the iPad app. The first is that voice notes don’t work, as Safari on the iPad isn’t officially supported. You will be able to listen to voice notes, but it is not a two-way system yet. The second limitation is the lack of notifications. The WhatsApp platform doesn’t support notifications of incoming messages on iOS web browsers. In other words, if you want to be notified of an incoming message, you’ll have to leave the browser open. Still, that is a small price to pay until the company gets wise and releases a dedicated iPad app.

    WhatsApp ShortCut

Now that we’re all set up with a web browser, it is time to make a shortcut so you can quickly get back to the web app. Like the app itself, creating a shortcut takes just a few seconds.

    1. First things first. Hit the “Share” icon in Safari to bring up the menu. That button looks like a square with an arrow pointing north.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    2. Once that comes up, click the option you’ll see for “Add to Home Screen.”

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    3. Here you can rename the application to something other than WhatsApp, but to keep things easy, just hit “Add” at the top right of the share menu.

    4. The shortcut icon will appear right on your home screen in the first available space. Pressing it once will open it like any other app and take you right back to the desktop app through Safari. It might take a second or two to reload each time depending on your connection speed, but it will automatically sync any messages you’ve recently sent on your smartphone or laptop.

    Conclusion

As easy it was to set up, there’s plenty of hope out there and millions of users who want to see Facebook release a WhatsApp app for the iPad. It would be an immediate download for dedicated users all over the world. Would the iPad app be an instant download for you? Sound off if you’ve given up on WhatsApp until they release an iPad update in the App Store.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

WhatsApp is an incredibly common way to message your friends, and it seems like the kind of app you’d want everywhere—not just on your phone. But there’s no WhatsApp app for the iPad. Is all hope lost?

Well, sort of. We looked into a few ways to access WhatsApp on the iPad, but but the solutions on offer are so awful they’re mostly not worth using. Here’s the situation.

    The Problem With WhatsApp

WhatsApp is weird among messaging apps. Rather than use one account across multiple devices, WhatsApp is tied to a single phone determined by to your phone number. If you try to log in on another phone, your old one will get logged out.

Until recently, you could literally only use that one device to access WhatsApp. That is, until, WhatsApp launched WhatsApp Web.

With WhatsApp web, you can connect to your WhatsApp account through your browser, or a client for Windows and macOS. The smartphone your WhatsApp account is set up on still needs to be online because all messages are relayed through it, but it works really well.

How to Use WhatsApp Web on the iPad (and Why It Isn’t Very Good)

With that in mind, I thought, one could easily just use WhatsApp Web from your iPad’s web browser. Unfortunately, that comes with problems.

You can try and point your iPad to web.whatsapp.com, but you’ll get taken to a site that instructs you to install WhatsApp on your smartphone or access the web app from your computer.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

If you persist and force WhatsApp to load the desktop site, you’ll get what appears to be the web app.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Sadly, it’s awful to use. It’s just not designed to work with a touch screen. You need to double tap on things to select them, the scrolling is janky, and it’s just generally bad. If you had to send a message, you could, but it’s not a solution we could really recommend.

WhatsApp iPad Apps Are Just Plain Bad

I took to the App Store as well, to see if there were any third-party apps that would do the trick. With a quick search, I found plenty of apps that claimed to make WhatsApp accessible on an iPad. Most were free, so I started with them.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

One was filled with ads and bad tutorials; it would only let me access WhatsApp Messenger if I paid a $1.99 unlock fee. Another was just filled with obnoxious ads and crashed after a few seconds. A third wouldn’t even open.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Obviously these free apps were out of the running. Next, I tried Messenger for WhatsApp Pro, a $1.99 purchase. This app…worked. Or at least, it worked in the sense that it bundled the web app in an iOS wrapper and made it accessible on my iPad. The problem is, that the web app is awful on the iPad, as we already discussed…and paying $1.99 seems a little silly for something I could get for free.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Once again, you could technically use the app, but the experience was so unpleasant that we can’t recommend it.

So where does that leave things? Right now, WhatsApp really isn’t usable on the iPad. You can access it with a workaround, but it’s terrible. We can’t in good faith recommend any way to do it well. If the situation changes in the future, we’ll update this guide.

    Toggle Dark Mode

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps for iPhone that boasts more than a billion active users per month. You can share text messages, send and receive photos, videos, and voice messages, place voice calls and much more.

Since WhatsApp requires users to enter their mobile number for activation, the app is made available for iPhone only. If you wish to use it on iPad or iPod touch, then you’re out of luck.

Although you cannot install the official app of WhatsApp on your iPad or iPod touch, there are alternative methods. One way involves using WhatsApp Web. As the name implies, WhatsApp Web allows you to use a browser to connect to your WhatsApp account and chat from there. In this way, you can use Safari to load WhatsApp Web on your iPad and start chatting with your friends.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you three different methods of using WhatsApp on iPhone or iPad touch.

    1 Using WhatsApp Web

Step 1: Open Safari on your iPad and go to web.whatsapp.com

Step 2: Once the page loads, you’ll notice that you’re forcefully redirected to the mobile home page of WhatsApp. To avoid this, tap and hold on the refresh icon in the URL bar. From the menu that opens, choose Request Desktop Site.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Step 3: The page for WhatsApp Web will now be displayed along with a QR code which you have to scan using your iPhone to connect to your WhatsApp account. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to the Settings section of the app.

Step 4: Tap on WhatsApp Web/Desktop. Now use your iPhone to scan the QR code that is shown on your iPad.

Step 5: On your iPad, the page will reload automatically and connect to your WhatsApp account to display all your conversations.

You can now use WhatsApp on your iPad to send and receive messages from friends and family. Since you’re accessing WhatsApp via the browser, there are certain restrictions. You cannot send voice messages. notifications for new messages will not appear, and you may get logged out randomly.

    • You cannot send voice messages.
    • Notifications for new messages will not appear.
    • You may get logged out randomly.

2 Using a Third-Party App for WhatsApp Web

Accessing WhatsApp via Safari or any other browser isn’t as convenient. Fortunately, there are a couple of apps on the App Store that wrap WhatsApp Web into a native app for iPad. One such app is called Chat for Whatsapp. It works quite nicely and can even send push notifications to your iPad. In case you don’t like this app, there’s another one called Messenger for WhatsApp.

    3 Using WhatsPad++

If you wish to get all the features of WhatsApp on your iPad, then you should check out an unofficial WhatsApp app for iPad called WhatsPad++. It allows you to use all the features of WhatsApp on your iPad as if you were using it on your iPhone.

While the app isn’t available on the App Store, you can install it on your iPad using a software called Cydia Impactor. This process is called sideloading and allows unsigned apps to be installed on iOS devices.

    • Note: when you sideload apps using a normal Apple ID, they will expire after 7 days, after which you’ll have to reinstall them using Cydia Impactor. Those with a developer Apple ID can have the app for 1 year before it expires.

Here’s how you can install WhatsPad++ on your iPad:

Step 1: On your computer, download WhatsPad++ and Cydia Impactor.

Step 2: Connect your iPad to your computer, then open Cydia Impactor.

Step 3: Drag and drop the WhatsPad++ file onto Cydia Impactor.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Step 4: You’ll be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password, which is used to sign and the install the app onto your iPad.

Step 5: Once you’ve entered your Apple ID credentials, Cydia Impactor will begin installing WhatsPad++ onto your iPad. Once done, you should see the WhatsApp icon on your iPad’s Home screen.

Step 6: Now go to Settings > General > Profiles.

Step 7: Open the profile labeled with your Apple ID, then press the Trust button.

Step 8: Now go to the Home screen and open WhatsApp.

That’s it! You can now use all the features of WhatsApp on your iPad without any restrictions. The app looks and functions exactly the same as the original WhatsApp. You can share messages, photos, videos, and voice messages, view statuses, make voice calls, and much more.

These are the different methods of using WhatsApp on your iPad. If you prefer to go with the safest option, then you should use the official WhatsApp Web via Safari. The other methods require you to use third-party apps which may or may not be safe.

If you want whats App on an iPad as it is very useful application then learn here how to install Whats App on an iPad without iPhone.

WhatsApp is an app that has gained popularity worldwide because of its simplicity and ease of use. It is available for iOS and android versions. And since it is quite cheap it is not very difficult to get hold of it unless you want it on your iPad. Yes, it is not possible for you to download WhatsApp directly to your iPad as there is no WhatsApp version for iPad. As usual innovative people have found ways to get around this problem.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

One way of getting around this problem is by using a tweak called WhatsPad. WhatsPad in the words of its developer ‘removes the artificial restrictions that WhatsApp has’ namely not allowing it on iPads. Since this particular tweak is not approved by Apple you will need a jailbroken tablet. These are the steps you have to follow.

    1. Download the iPhone configuration utility (Windows or Mac) and install it.
    2. Connect your iPad to your computer.
    3. Get WhatsApp for iPhone on to your computer using iTunes.
    4. Start the iPhone Configuration Utility. Click on the iPad icon that you see on the left side.
    5. A number of tabs will appear but just select the Applications tab.
    6. Select Add and look for the WhatsApp .ipa file that you downloaded in the 3 rd step. You will find it in the Mobile Applications folder within iTunes media.
    7. Install it by scrolling down and clicking on Install. You will see WhatsApp icon on the iPad springboard.
    8. Go to your iPad and install the WhatsPad tweak.

You can also get WhatsApp without jail breaking or installing tweaks like WhatsPad. The steps are similar

So basically you do the same thing. But whichever method you use you will not be able to actually start using the WhatsApp app on your iPad without the help of an iPhone. The reason WhatsApp cannot be installed on iPad is because iPad does not have a SIM card. WhatsApp requires the user’s telephone number. They send an initialization code to this phone number which you have to enter when you start up WhatsApp.

Since iPad does not have this facility you have to use the iPhone for this purpose. And you will have to uninstall WhatsApp from the iPhone and re-install it to get the code. Now enter this code on the WhatsApp app on your iPad. Now you can start using WhatsApp on iPad. If you do not possess an iPhone then get it from someone who has it because you cannot use any other phone for this purpose. As the phone number is registered with WhatsApp you cannot use WhatsApp on iPad and iPhone simultaneously.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

WhatsApp is the most-used messaging and social networking platform today. However, WhatsApp is limited to smartphones and you cannot use it on most tablets and all PCs as yet. Certain 3G Android tablets which allow you to make phone calls are the only ones which can use WhatsApp for now. The iPad and iPod touch, even though they feature 3G SIM card slots for the Internet, cannot have WhatsApp working because of incompatibility with the device.

However, there is a method, using which, you can install WhatsApp on an iPad or iPod and use it without any issues. And the best part is that you don’t need to have your iPad or iPod jailbroken to get this working. All you need is an iPad/iPod, a Mac or Windows PC and an iPhone. The procedure is pretty simple, and you can get it up and running within half an hour. If you are a techie, you can get it done within a few minutes.

Before we begin, let us inform you about a few crucial conditions, which will ensure that WhatsApp functions on your iPad/iPod. As you should know, WhatsApp can only run on a smart device which has a working SIM card installed in it. When installing WhatsApp, the app sends a message to its servers, and then intercepts an incoming SMS to the device to confirm and activate it. Also, you cannot use WhatsApp with the same SIM card or phone number on more than one phone. To use it on another smartphone, you need to have a new number or transfer the old data to the new phone.

Hence, in order to get WhatsApp running on your tablet, we suggest you either use a new number or use WhatsApp on your tablet only. You will have to uninstall WhatsApp from your smartphone.

Let’s begin. In order to have WhatsApp running on your iPad, you will need an iPhone and a computer to help transfer the data. So ensure you have the iPhone, iPad and computer ready.

Step 1: We assume that you are having a new number (SIM card) and want to use WhatsApp on the tablet with that number. Alternatively, you can also use the same number you have and transfer the WhatsApp to the iPad. Insert the SIM in the iPhone, download WhatsApp and install it. Register the WhatsApp by following the procedure on the screen as usual. Once done, simply send and receive a message to a friend to confirm that WhatsApp is functioning.

Step 2: Now you need a simple free utility to transfer this activation of WhatsApp from your iPhone to the iPad. iFunBox is a simple free utility and file manager for iOS devices and is available for Windows and Mac OS platforms. Download and install it. If you have a jailbroken iOS device, then you can use any other alternate file manager for the procedure. All we need to do is to install WhatsApp on the iPad and transfer the database from the iPhone to the iPad, and for this, we shall use iFunBox.

Step 3: Now connect the iPhone to the PC and run iFunBox. Let the phone’s drivers get installed, and iFunBox will recognize the device and open it. Ensure you have iTunes installed on your PC or Mac before you do so since you have to build the trust between the computer and the iOS device. Yes, iTunes is necessary. Don’t worry, it’s free too.

Step 4: Once you connect your iPhone to the computer, sync it with iTunes so that the software can back up the apps from the iPhone to the computer. We need the WhatsApp app file (.ipa) so that we can install it on the iPad. WhatsApp cannot be installed on the iPad from the App Store, and hence we need to get the app .ipa file using this procedure. Copy the WhatsApp.ipa file from the folder where iTunes stores the data to the desktop. Usually on a Windows PC, it should be in this location: ‘C:UsersUsernameMy MusiciTunesiTunes MediaMobile Applications’. On a Mac machine, it would be in ‘/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications/’. Once done copying, start iFunBox.

Step 5:  Now that iFunBox has access to your device, you need to copy the iPhone WhatsApp’s database to the desktop. In iFunBox, you should find it under ‘connected devicesyour phone nameuser applicationsWhatsApp’. From here you need to copy two folders to your PC’s desktop. Select the folders ‘Documents’ and ‘Library’ and hit the ‘Copy to PC’ button from the menu bar. Copy the two folders to the desktop. You are finished with Part 1.

Step 6: Now that the WhatsApp app and database are copied, you can thank the donor iPhone for its services. Make sure you remove the SIM card from the iPhone and then uninstall WhatsApp from it. Also make sure you don’t install and activate the same SIM card with WhatsApp on another device.

The image above shows the error when you have two devices activated with the same number.

Step 7: Now connect the iPad/iPod to the PC and run iFunBox. Now we need to install WhatsApp to the iPad, and you can do this by hitting the ‘Install App’ button in the menu bar. Navigate to the place where you saved the WhatsApp.ipa file and install it. Once done, you need to copy the database from your desktop to the iPad. Navigate to the same location as the iPhone to get to the WhatsApp folder. It should be under ‘connected devicesyour iPad nameuser applicationsWhatsApp’. Delete the folders ‘Documents’ and ‘Library’ and copy the ones from your desktop to this location. You can choose to replace/overwrite the files to the iPad, but we recommend deleting the old folders and replacing with the ones we saved from the iPhone.

The image above shows that if another device is activated with the same WhatsApp account, the iPad will deactivate

That’s it, WhatsApp has been successfully installed to the iPad, and you can test your application to check if it works. We did the same procedure in our office using an iPhone 5S as the donor phone and an iPad Mini 16GB Wi-Fi. It has been successfully working.

We are testing out WhatsApp on an Android tablet and Windows PC too. We shall soon bring you an article after a successful working method.

WhatsPad (WhatsApp For iPad And iPad 2) Now Available, Here’s How To Install It Now! [Jailbreak Tweak]

WhatsApp – a very popular cross-platform instant messaging tool – is available on the iPhone and iPod touch but, sadly, isn’t available for the iPad. However, a tweak that goes by the name of WhatsPad allows the app in question to work on the iPad and that is what we’ll be talking about in this post.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Developed by an iOS developer who goes by the name of Lee, WhatsPad removes the “artificial” restriction that WhatsApp has which doesn’t allow it to be used on iPads.

From the app’s page on Cydia:

Enables WhatsApp to run on iPad and iPad 2, this works on both Wifi and Wifi+3G models. There are no settings or icons for this tweak, simply purchase and install WhatsApp.

How To Install WhatsApp And WhatsPad On Your iPad

You will, of course, need a jailbroken iPad for this to work. Apple and developers of WhatsApp haven’t approved the tweak yet so jailbreaking is an absolute must:

You can follow our step by step guide posted here to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 4.3.5 using Redsn0w (or PwnageTool), or on iOS 4.3.4 using Redsn0w or PwnageTool (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch), or iOS 4.3.3 using Redsn0w, PwnageTool, Sn0wbreeze & JailbreakMe (that last one being the easiest). If you’re already using iOS 5 beta, you can jailbreak it using tools like Redsn0w (for Mac and Windows), or Sn0wbreeze.

Note: Since WhatsApp is an iPhone-only app, therefore in most cases, you wont be able to download it on the iPad directly from the App Store. Before you do anything, you need to follow the steps given below exactly as written to install WhatsApp on your iPad.

Step 1: Download and install the iPhone Configuration Utility from the links given below.

    • iPhone Configuration Utility for Windows
    • iPhone Configuration Utility for Mac

Step 2: Connect your iPad with your Mac or PC.

Step 3: Download WhatsApp for iPhone on your PC or Mac using iTunes.

Step 4: Now launch the iPhone Configuration Utility. On the left hand side, you will see your connected iPad; click on it.

Step 5: Click on Applications from the tabs you see at the top of your screen.

Step 6: Click on Add at the top left and browse for the WhatsApp IPA file you download in Step 3. It can be found under the iTunes Media > Mobile Applications folder.

Step 7: Scroll down and click on Install. WhatsApp will appear on your iPad’s Springboard.

Step 8: On your iPad, open up Cydia and install WhatsPad tweak from the BigBoss repository.

Once the WhatsPad tweak has been installed, you may launch the WhatsApp app from your homescreen and it will work the way it works on your iPhone. Also keep in mind that WhatsApp will ask you to enter a 3-digit PIN for activation which you’ll receive in a text message, therefore be sure to activate WhatsApp using your active phone number on which you can receive text messages in order to get the PIN.

If you want to scale it up and take the advantage of every pixel of the iPad’s screen real estate, you can do that as well by downloading one of the many well-known tweaks from Cydia, such as RetinaPad or FullForce.

While we previously stated that WhatsPad only works for WiFi+3G iPad models, we can confirm – from the developer himself – that the tweaks allows WhatsApp to run on all iPad models.

WhatsApp has become the most popular messaging app in the world, but it has now leaped off mobile devices and onto the web. Many of us value seeing our messages come onto our computer screens in real-time as we work, and WhatsApp gives us that option, as well as being able to reply more easily and quickly using our computer keyboards. Here’s everything you need to know about WhatsApp Web and how to get started using it.

    QUICK ANSWER

To use WhatsApp Web, open a browser and go to https://web.whatsapp.com. You’ll need to log in and synchronize WhatsApp Web with WhatsApp on your mobile device by scanning a QR code. Once the connection is made, any messages that appear on your WhatsApp mobile app will instantly appear on the web version.

    JUMP TO KEY SECTIONS

What is WhatsApp Web, and how does it differ from the desktop app?

WhatsApp Web is the online browser version of WhatsApp mobile. It enables you to receive your messages on your computer screen in real-time, reply by typing on your keyboard, start new conversations, start new groups, and search chat histories for a contact. You can receive message notifications from your browser if you have them enabled in the browser settings.

However, unlike the desktop and mobile apps, it doesn’t allow you to make telephone and video calls. You also can’t change your status. So there are a few shortcomings with the browser version — but nothing that would be a deal-breaker.

What are the differences between WhatsApp Web and the mobile app?

The differences between the web version and mobile app are the same as the desktop app. The mobile app gives you the full WhatsApp experience with all the bells and whistles. The browser version misses things like calling, video calls, and status updates.

How to access and use WhatsApp Web

Setting up on the web version of WhatsApp is very quick and easy. The following steps assume that you already have an account set up on the mobile app. If not, you need to do that first.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. The app is primarily available for iPhone and Android smartphones but not for tablets, including iPads. Luckily, with iPadOS, it is easier than ever to get WhatsApp up and running on an iPad. Here is how you can use WhatsApp on iPad, without buying any third-party app.

This method involves the use of Safari browser on iPad, which now supports desktop-class browsing after the release of iPadOS. Websites now load by default in desktop mode in iPadOS which is fully optimized for desktop compatible websites and web-apps. Safari on iPadOS uses the same user agent string as Safari on macOS , so websites are served accordingly.

How to use WhatsApp on iPad

    1. Open web.whatsapp.com in Safari. You will see a QR code on the WhatsApp website. How to get whatsapp on the ipad
    2. Open your iPhone or Android device, go to WhatsApp and navigate to Settings >WhatsApp Web/Desktop and tap on Scan QR Code.
    3. Once the code is scanned, the connection between WhatsApp app and WhatsApp Web will be established. Once the app loads, you will be able to use it.How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    A few things to note:

    • You will not get any notifications since Safari on iPad does not support them.
    • The list of contacts from your iPhone or Android will be shown in WhatsApp Web, NOT the list of contacts on your iPad.
    • You can add an icon for WhatsApp to your iPad home screen by tapping the share button in Safari, and tapping on Add to Home Screen. Tapping the icon will just open the website in Safari, instead of opening it as a full-screen Progressive Web App.
    • You can share photos, videos and files from your iPad to your contacts on WhatsApp. You can also save incoming media to your iPad.
    • You can also record and send voice notes. A red microphone icon will show in Safari’s address bar, when the mic is active.

While the experience is perfect due to lack of notifications, the web app works great in Safari. There are rumors that a dedicated iPad app is in the works, and will be released soon. Whether it will work via connectivity with an iPhone or Android device, or stand-alone, is yet to be seen. Telegram, a messaging service similar to WhatsApp, already has an iPad app which works independently of its smartphone apps. There is no reason that WhatsApp cannot do the same, without compromising on security.

Share All sharing options for: Head of WhatsApp on releasing an iPad app: ‘We’d love to do it’

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

WhatsApp’s chief has a message for those who have been clamoring for a native iPad app: don’t give up hope.

“People have wanted an iPad app for a long time.” Will Cathcart, the head of WhatsApp at its parent company Meta, told The Verge during an interview this week tied to a new US marketing push for the messaging app. “We’d love to do it.”

Like Instagram for the iPad, a version of WhatsApp for Apple’s tablet has long eluded users despite being a heavily requested feature. And while Cathcart wouldn’t go so far as to commit to the release of an iPad version, his comments suggest it’s possible that one will be built in the near future, especially now that WhatsApp has built the underlying technology needed for such a client to work.

“We did a lot of work on the technology for supporting multiple devices,” Cathcart said, referencing the rollout of opt-in, multi-device support for WhatsApp last year. “Our web and our desktop apps now have that. If I have multi-device on, I can turn my phone off or lose my network connection and still get messages on my desktop. That would be really important for a tablet app, to be able to use the app even if your phone isn’t on. So the underlying technology is there.”

Because of the way WhatsApp encrypts messages, it historically hasn’t been able to sync chats across devices over the internet like most other messaging apps work. So if WhatsApp on your phone didn’t have access to the internet, the desktop client didn’t work. The beta version of multi-device support lets you sync your WhatsApp account on up to four devices at a time, a process that involves mapping device identifiers to an account key on WhatsApp’s servers in a way that’s still encrypted. Now that such syncing technology exists, there’s a good chance that one of WhatsApp for iPad is finally on the horizon.

The Files app for iPhone and iPad offers a file system for iOS and iPadOS, and though it’s limited, it does offer some advanced features like file paths. File paths may be familiar to Mac, Windows, and Linux users, as a file path points to exactly where to go find a file or folder in the file system. With Files app in iOS and iPadOS, you can find and get file paths.

For those who aren’t aware, a file path is nothing but the address or location of a file or folder stored on the device. Typically, a file path includes the folder it’s stored in and the storage device where it’s located, along with other directories. These constitute the path components. If you’re an advanced user, you may use file paths already on a daily basis. Just like on computers, you can now get the file path on your iPhone and iPad as well, which can come in handy for certain iOS shortcuts, and other more advanced stuff in the iOS and iPadOS ecosystem. So, let’s learn how you can grab a files path in Files app of iOS and iPadOS.

How to Get a File Path on iPhone & iPad via the Files App

We’ll be making use of the Files app that comes preinstalled on iOS and iPadOS devices. Make sure the file you’re looking for is locally stored. Now, let’s go ahead with the procedure.

Launch the native Files app on your iPhone or iPad.

Make sure you’re in the “Browse” section and select the location where your file is stored.

Next, head over to the directory where the file is located and simply long-press on the file to access more options.

Now, select “Info” to view all the information on the file.

This will bring up a menu where you’ll be able to see the file path, as shown in the screenshot below. You can long-press on the path to access the “Copy” option.

There you have it. Now you know how to grab the path of a file on your iOS/iPadOS device.

Of course, you can now paste the file path anywhere you want, but it’s worth noting that this is not exactly the final file path itself. Instead, it’s the GUI’s way of showing where the file is exactly stored. To change it to an actual file path, you need to paste it and replace the arrows with forward slashes (/) and make sure there are no spaces between the path components. For example, Chrome▸Downloads▸Sample.mp3 should be changed to Chrome/Downloads/Sample.mp3.

File paths may come in handy for some very specific iOS/iPadOS shortcuts that grab and save content from folders. This makes inputting file paths easy without having to manually type them out. Remember, in order to make the file path shortcut-friendly, you’ll have to first remove the arrows and replace them with forward slashes (ie: Chrome▸Downloads▸Example.mp3 to Chrome/Downloads/Example.mp3).

Mac users can also quickly copy a file path to the clipboard in macOS, and there are multiple ways to go about this, so check it out and find your preferred method. File paths are typically much more commonly used in desktop environments and workstations, particularly at the command line.

Are you using file paths in iOS/iPadOS for Shortcuts, or for some other purpose? Do you have any particularly interesting tricks or tips with file paths? Share with us in the comments.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Whatsapp Messenger is one of the most popular cross-platform instant messengers, mainly because of its seamless integration with iOS, Android and other devices. With that being said, one annoying feature of the app is the inability to install Whatsapp on iPad or iPod Touch. When you try to install, it will return a ugly error.

If your device is jailbroken, you can easily use various third-party app installers available in Cydia to install Whatsapp and keep up with your friends and family. But there’s also a way for non-jailbroken users to get Whatsapp, and it’s fairly simple.

For this, you simply need access to a PC/Mac and temporarily, to an iPhone with a new SIM that hasn’t been ever registered with WhatsApp.

    Get The WhatsApp .ipa File

The first step you need to take is to locate and get the WhatsApp .ipa file. To do this, simply open up iTunes and follow the steps below:

    1. Click on the “iTunes Store” button in the top-right corner.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    2. In the search bar, enter “WhatsApp” and press Enter.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    3. Download the WhatsApp Messenger in the iPhone Apps section. Click on “Free” and enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    5. Once the app downloads, open up the Apps section in your iTunes library.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

    6. Locate the WhatsApp app, right-click it, and select “Show In Explorer” for Windows, and “Show In Finder” for Macs.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Alternatively, you can navigate to the following locations on your Windows and Mac computers:

Here, you’ll find the WhatsApp app named “WhatsApp.ipa”. Copy it to your desktop for easy access later.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Download iFunBox or any other iOS file browser

You’ll now need a third-party iOS file browser on your Mac/PC to access your iPad. There are many file browsers available, but we’ll be using iFunBox for this guide. It’s free and does what it’s supposed to do. Other available file browsers include DiskAid and iExplorer.

Connect your iPad to your Mac/PC and fire up iFunbox. Click on “Install app,” navigate to the desktop and select the “Whatsapp.ipa” file.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Click on it, and the app will install on your iPad. Once done, unplug your iPad from your computer. The WhatsApp icon should appear on your home screen. You’ll also notice that when you click on the icon on your iPad/iPod Touch, it won’t work. That’s because we need to perform a few other steps, detailed below.

    Install WhatsApp On Your iPhone

The next step requires you to have access to an iPhone. Install Whatsapp on your iPhone as you would usually do, by downloading and installing it from the App Store.

Note: You need to make sure the number you register with has never been used with WhatsApp before. For this, you can simply insert a new SIM card in your iPhone. Register with the new phone number, and make sure that WhatsApp sends you a confirmation code. Without this, WhatsApp will not work on your iPad. If you already have WhatsApp on your iPhone, re-install it before adding the new number.

Once downloaded, open the app and then register a phone number – make sure this is the one you wish to use with WhatsApp on your iPad/iPod Touch. You’ll have to confirm this using a code sent to the number you give.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Once set up, connect your iPhone to your Mac and open up iFunBox. In the iPhone section, click on “User Applications:”

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Here, click on the WhatsApp logo, which will open up a window containing a few different files.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

The ones you need are the “Library” and “Documents” folders, as these contain the registration data for WhatsApp. Copy these to your desktop by selecting the folders and clicking “Copy To Mac” from the Menu Bar.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Copy The Registration Data To Your iPad/iPod Touch

Now, simply unplug your iPhone and connect your iPad/iPod Touch to your Mac/PC. In your iPad/iPod Touch’s section, click on “User Applications” and click on the WhatsApp icon.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

Here, simply replace the Library and Documents folders with the ones we copied from the iPhone earlier, thus copying the registration data over to the iPad. Do this by selecting “Copy From Mac” from the menu bar and selecting the folders from your Desktop.

And that’s it, you should now have WhatsApp running on your iPad/iPod Touch. If the app repeatedly says, “The device is not supported,” try restarting your device.

How to get whatsapp on the ipad

WhatsApp messenger is great. Well, it’s sort of great. If we’re being honest, being swarmed with hundreds of messages a day from 13 different groups can be rather overwhelming. Then again, maybe we’re just incredibly popular.

Either way, if you’re an iPad owner, you might prefer to switch your digital nattering over to its larger screen, instead of pecking away at your phone.

Trouble is, there’s no official WhatsApp app available for the iPad. But thankfully, there are a few workarounds…

    WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp Web is a browser-based WhatsApp client which lets you use the messaging service from, well, a browser.

We definitely, definitely don’t use it at work to send memes to our mates (because that would be unprofessional), but it is theoretically a great way to keep in touch with everyone when you’re on a PC.

You can actually use WhatsApp web on your iPad too:

    1. Hit up web.whatsapp.com, and hold down the refresh button in Safari’s URL bar, and then Request Desktop Site.

    2. See that QR code? You’re going to want to scan it with your phone. Open up WhatsApp on your handset, go to Settings, WhatsApp Web, and scan the QR code.

    3. That’s all you have to do – it’ll automatically link the web client to your phone, and you can message away on your iPad as normal.

    4. It’s well worth pinning the WhatsApp Web page to your home screen too, for instant future access. Just hit the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, and you’re all done.

Unfortunately you’re going to need to keep Safari up and running if you want to keep on top of your messages as notifications aren’t supported.

You can get around this by using the iPad’s split-screen mode, which lets you run two apps side by side.

While Safari’s open, drag in from the right hand side and you can choose which secondary app you’d like to use, letting you keep on top of WhatsApp while using other apps.

    There’s an app for that

An alternative method to using Safari is to download an unofficial WhatsApp iPad app from the iTunes store. There are quite a few out there, but the one we’ve found works best is called Messenger for WhatsApp.

Once installed, setup is essentially identical to WhatsApp Web. Scan your QR code, and you’re good to go.

Unfortunately, while this app (and its peers) used to support notifications, it appears that the latest version of iOS has broken the notification feature, so again, you’ll need to stay in the app or use split screen function if you want to stay on top of your messages.

It’s possible that the notification feature will be updated to work with the newer version of iOS – making this app method better than the Safari one above – but for now, either of these methods results in the same outcome.

It seems that WhatsApp is having a hard time having an iPad-ready application and it is something that is certainly very annoying if we work daily with the Apple tablet. This can undoubtedly be one of the reasons to opt for Telegram since it is cross-platform. While working on this issue from Facebook, we must comply with third-party applications found in the App Store.

We must keep in mind that these applications are not official but they are safe. What most people do is go to the WhatsApp Web page that we can use in our browser, so we must always have our mobile phone nearby to maintain contact.

    Messaging for WhatsApp

This is an extremely simple application to use since it mimics the interface that we can easily have in the MacOS desktop version of WhatsApp. When you run it for the first time we will see a QR code on the screen . We simply have to take our iPhone and when entering WhatsApp we will see at the bottom the ‘Settings’ tab. Once here we will select s ‘WhatsApp Web / Desktop’ to open the camera and make a scan of the QR code that appears.
