How to clinch

One of the most common and useful fishing knots to know is the Clinch Knot.

The Clinch Knot is a classic terminal connection knot and generally one of the first knots that every fisherman learns.

It’s a snug terminal knot that can be used for inshore fishing and fly fishing.

It’s best when used with mono and fluorocarbon fishing lines.

This is a good knot to know because:

  • It’s simple
  • Easy to tie
  • Quick to learn

In this article, I show you the step-by-step process to tie the Clinch Knot and provide a video tutorial on how to tie this knot.

How To Tie The Clinch Knot

In this section, I show you the step-by-step process of tying the Clinch Knot. For this application, we are using fluorocarbon line and attaching it to a plug.

Step 1: Thread The Line Through The Eye Of The Hook

Thread four inches of the tag end of your fishing line through the eye of the hook. Pinch the tag end and mainline above the eye of the hook.

Understanding how to clinch is a crucial part of UFC 4.

How to clinch

Clinching is a significant part of fighting in UFC 4. Players can use the clinch to move their opponents, take them to the ground, or deliver devastating blows. Clinching is slightly different in UFC 4 but still easy to initiate.

Players must press R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox and top the button associated with their lead hand. The lead hand is either X or Y on Xbox and Square and Triangle on PlayStation. If done correctly, these combinations will initiate a clinch.

There are numerous options once a clinch is initiated. Players can move their opponent around with the left stick, although they will eventually break free after a short period. You can also transition into a new clinch position by pressing the same buttons to initiate the clinch.

It’s also possible to deliver significant damage while holding an opponent in the clinch. Players can throw elbows by pressing LB + X or A or LB + Y or B on Xbox. PlayStation players can press L1 + Square and X or L1 + Triangle and O to perform the same moves.

If you want to hit your enemies with knees in the clinch, press A or B on Xbox or X and O on PlayStation to deliver massive blows to the leg. You can aim for the body by pressing the left trigger + A or B on Xbox and X or O on PlayStation. Finally, you can devastate opponents with a knee to the head by pressing the left bumper + A or B on Xbox or X and O on PlayStation.

If you want to get your opponent to the ground, you can trip or throw them from the clinch. Press RB + A or RB+ B on Xbox and R1 + X or RB + O on PlayStation to get them on the ground.

Understanding how to clinch in UFC 4 is an essential part of becoming a talented player. Use it to your advantage to control the fight’s tempo and get your opponents where you want them.

Бой в клинче – один из основных элементов ММА. Узнайте, как максимально эффективно пользоваться этой тактикой в EA SPORTS UFC 3.

How to clinch

EA SPORTS UFC 3.

How to clinch

Learn how to clinch in UFC 4 and deal great attacks on your foes.

How to clinch

EA Sports have recently launched UFC 4. While there are a few things in UFC 4 similar to the previous installments of the UFC series, many have been revamped. One such major change is that of Clinching. Clinching is a vital part of any mixed martial art game. It gives you numerous advantages to knock down opponents. To start with, it gives you an advancing position, allows you to strike, and perform takedowns. So if you don’t know how to clinch in UFC 4 or defense one, you will be receiving consecutive attacks from opponents.

Clinching is one of the most important strategies to win in UFC 4, especially when fighting online. Without knowing how to clinch in UFC 4, you cannot expect to get more wins. Well, not to worry as we are here. Here’s a guide to help you learn the basic skills of clinching and how to perform one in UFC 4.

How To Clinch In UFC 4

EA Sports have made clinching a more seamless action to perform in UFC 4. Unlike all the previous installments, where users had to reach and grab their opponents to perform a clinch, UFC 4 allows players to fall into one. This is useful if you know how to defend and reverse a clinch. That was all about the advantages of clinching, now let’s begin with how to clinch in UFC 4.

To begin with, you have to perform a single collar clinch on your opponent. This is done by pressing R1 + Square on PS4 and RB + X on Xbox One. Once you perform the single collar clinch, you will have many options to select from, including striking and takedowns. Before initiating a clinch it is important to note that timing matters a lot. If you perform a clinch at the wrong time, you may end up getting all the punishment. The best time to perform a clinch is when stamina is low and both players are standing close facing each other.

Once you have performed the single collar clinch, you can transition it into various positions by pressing different buttons on the console.

Been playing on ps4 for a few days now. Here’s what I can gather about clinching so far:

It’s triggered by enemy proximity and appears to be based off stats. Strength I think.
There is a perk you can unlock (strength tree I think. Need to check that.) that gives you +30% to beat your opponent, which is how I came to the conclusion it’s a hidden roll on a stat.
After picking that perk I’m now consistently kneeing dudes in the face while clinching. Fist fights just got alot easier.

I may be wrong so feel free to correct me.

It’s apparantly a system to keep chars. from getting too close with blades and clipping through, and so I think that yes, it really only happens when you get real close. Why you see *alot* of clinches during fist fights.

So to initiate one, just get close. Since the ‘clinch master’ skill is in the Strength tab, I’m guessing it’s strength that utilizes it.

Just keep walking into them when in combat. (w key) if you’re close enough they’ll start the clinch. left/right mouse buttons do different moves.
Unarmed combat its the right mouse button to knee them in the face, left just kicks them away from you.

Get someone up against a wall or corner, and you can clinch-knee them in the face, right mouse punch, clinch knee face, right mouse punchm over and over again lol

When you get to the practice arena with bernard, he’ll actually quit the practice session if you beat him badly lol

By right mouse hits you mean the heavier attacks? Are these jabs or swings?

There are many different important mechanics for players to understand in UFC 4. This guide shows players how to clinch their opponent.

One of the most satisfying things about UFC 4 is placing a well-aimed strike right into an opponent’s face. The newest iteration of the UFC franchise has placed a considerable focus on improving many of the series’ mechanics and physics, and this can definitely be seen when it comes to attacking other players. Every hit feels fluid and solid, and it never gets old to knock your opponent out with a kick or punch.

One of the areas of the game that was given a significant amount of work is the clinching mechanic. Clinching allows players to grab onto and hold their opponent, which can then allow them to transition into a few different advantageous positions. It is very easy to strike or even bring an opponent down to the ground and force them to submit. Clinching is a very important skill for players to pick up and this guide will show players how to do it properly.

UFC 4: How to Clinch and Why its Important

In previous UFC games, clinching was a complicated process that forced players to enter into a small mini-game. The outcome of this mini-game determined how well players could hold on and what actions they could force their opponent into. UFC 4 on the other hand makes clinching much simpler and makes at an easy extension of a players striking arsenal. All the player has to do in order to clinch is press RB+X (Xbox One) or R1+Square (PlayStation 4). This will let the player grab onto their opponent with one hand and bring them in close. Players can also switch their clinching position from here using RB+Y or R1+Triangle. Transitioning will give the player different positions to attack their opponent from.

When clinching an opponent players have several options for attacking. They can simply strike at them by using the different attack buttons. Players can hold down the shoulder buttons or triggers in order to attack the face or body respectively. While an opponent is clinched they will have a harder time blocking attacks, so players will be able to do more damage to specific body parts.

Players can also decide to take their opponent down to the ground by holding down the shoulder button and an attack button. This will bring the opponent down the ground, where the player can climb on top of them and force them into a submission hold or repeatedly punch them in the head. This method is perfect for players who want to force their opponents into a submission as quickly as possible.

The final option from clinching is only available to a select number of characters in the game. Certain fighters can attempt a standing up submission technique on their opponent, but these are incredibly difficult to pull off. If used though they are very difficult for an opponent to break out of.

UFC 4 can be played on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

As the baseball season winds down, there’s a lot of talk about the “magic number” for a team to clinch first place. It’s used to quickly determine how close a team is to its goal. A team must be in first place in the particular standings to truly have a magic number.

The magic number can never go up. It only subtracts. A team can't have a magic number of nine on one day and 10 the next.

How Is It Computed?

The short method: Take the number of games yet to be played, add one, then subtract the number of games ahead in the loss column of the standings from the closest opponent.

But it might be even easier to do it with one glance at the standings if you can follow this simple mathematical formula: Games in a season plus one, minus wins, minus losses by the second-place team. Because games plus one should equal 163 in all instances, it can be summed up as:

163 – wins – losses by the second-place team

Before the season starts, every team has a magic number of 163. That would be 162 games plus one, with zero wins and zero losses by the second-place team.

For example, if the Team A is 90-62 with 10 games remaining and Team B, the second-place team, is 85-67, Team A's magic number could be computed as follows: 163 – 90 – 67 = 6. So Team A has a magic number of six with 10 games remaining, meaning any combination of wins by Team A and losses by Team B equaling six would give the division title to Team A.

When the Number Reaches One

When the magic number is one, that means the team has clinched at least a tie for the championship. Once it reaches zero, the team has won the title.

The 'Tragic Number'

The opposite of the magic number is the elimination number, or the "tragic number," which is the reverse of the magic number. It's the combination of losses and wins by the front-running team for a team to be eliminated.

What About the Wild Card?

A team might be in second place in the standings but could still have a magic number for the wild card, which is the team with the best record not in first place. To compute that number, replace the second-place team with the other teams, not in first-place and redo the formula.

An example: Team A has a magic number of nine in the American League East over Team B. That means that any combination of nine wins by Team A or losses by Team B will give Team A the division title.

But Team B has the best record of any second-place team, which gives them the lead in the wild-card race for the final playoff spot in the American League. They have 85 wins and Team C, the next team behind them, has 67 losses. So take the formula (162 + 1 – 85 – 67) and Team B's magic number to clinch the wild card is 11.

I´m practicing clinches with bernard and can´t figure out how to win them.
I´ve got the skill to get 40% bonus.

The journal says "start the clinch with F and then do an Attack". This seems to be wrong as the clinch just stats when you walk close and i have won some clinches without pressing LMB/RMB.
There are a lot of youtubes but they say a lot of different rumors how to do it.

After alf an hour of training I made 3 clinches a win for me but i have no idea how i did it.
I´m just pressing buttons and hope for the best but have nothing to aim for.

Stupid question:
Is it possible to hurt Bernard in a fight with bare hands? So that the purple bar decreases?
Or is this "just practice" and it can not happen.

same question for wooden weapons.
How do i tell if i hit him? Is there any effect?

If you’ve picked a lot of flowers, you usually win your clinches.

Clinches are also a Contest of Skills – so, your abilities against your opponents abilities, with a random component. Agility and Strength matter, as do Warfare and Weapon Skill.

I cannot consistently beat Bernard at clinches until my Strength is over 8, Agility and Warfare are over 5, and Weapon Skill is over 4.

Then, it’s just a matter of learning the Keys and the timing.

And likewise – i’m old, but age doesn’t hold us back too much 🙂

I really can’t emphasize enough that slowing down makes a HUGE difference.

Spamming does not help – it is timing that matters. Spamming can actually flood your system with inputs, and make it slower to respond (i think of it as flooding your buffer) – it is MUCH better to slow down you response, and double-tap at the right time (double-tap deals with my poor timing better than a single-tap and a prayer)

For clinches, there are multiple responses to break the clinch (assuming you win) – one is a punch in the face (RMB-a jab), and one is a kick (LMB-main attack) – while the punch in the face is very rewarding at times, i prefer the kick since it send the opponent away.

Pick one Clinch response until you learn the timing, then try others – in this case a Slow Spam (or triple-tap) does work (but keep the adrenaline under control) – again, it’s all about timing – so once it starts working, try to figure out the right time (which you can’t do if you are spamming).

To start a clinch, you have to move really close and attack at the right moment/distance – this also takes practice.

Once you start winning more often, Kick him into a corner, and he wont go very far, but he will still be staggered and you can attack. Or simply clinch him again.

Clinching earns Skill with weapon – there is an exploit in Training called "Clinch Grinding"
