watch cpu players play tennis

To watch CPU player play tennis, press A on all of your Miis so that all of them have a question mark and hit A. (not on a question mark) You will see that CPU players are there and you can watch them. You can use the D-Pad to move the camera too!

Hidden Fairway

On the third hole, you may notice there is a secret fairway hidden in the out of bounds. When the wind is just right, shoot towards the secret fairway. If you hit it, you might get an albatross.

Power Serve

To do a "power serve," press A and wait for the ball to reach the highest point in the air and then strike with the Wii Remote.

Silver Boxing Gloves

After you've beaten Matt, the Grand Champion, you'll unlock the silver gloves. Hold 1 when the screen fades to black before a boxing match to don them.

Disable Map and Meters for Golf

Hold 2 while choosing your course to disable the map and wind meter.

Hint – Baseball A.I. Exploit

The more skill points you accumulate, the harder it will be to beat the game A.I.

In order to get the pitcher for the A.I. to throw almost everything across the plate, you need to wear them out.

Take as many pitches as you can, working deep into each count. This trick doesn't guarentee a win, but I have yet to get negative points.

When you see the pitcher begin to sweat, an exlamation point will appear over the pitcher's head when a pitch is about to be thrown.

That means its coming right across the plate at 74 MPH. A perfect home run ball if you hit the ball correctly.

Hint – Tennis Pro Tips

When playing tennis and building your skill level, you can quickly gain skill points by setting it up so that your Mii is both players on a single side. After orienting yourself to this type of gameplay (it takes some coordination), you will notice that your wins will earn you 40+ skill points each time – basically double what you would have gotten if you had played with the computer on your side.

To do this trick: When you select which type of game to play, "Single Game", "Best of 3", or "Best of 5", it shows you which players are at which locations on the court. Your Mii's default position is the left side server. On the same side, use the A Button and click on the figure standing at the net. It will change from the "?" shadow to your Mii (assuming you are playing alone). Then proceed to pick which duration of tennis you'd like to play.

Note that you should ensure that you win, otherwise you may be at risk to lose double the amount of skill points if you lose.

Bowling Ball Color Change

You can select your bowling ball color before you bowl by using the directional pad. When you reach the screen warning, 'Make sure nothing is around you', hit the A button and hold the D-pad (until the alley UI appears) to choose your color:

Baseball in Wii Sports is a great way to experience the game. Add some crackerjacks and cheering fans and a day at the ballpark can be spent in your own living room. Here are some steps that will help you master the two parts of baseball in Wii Sports, pitching and hitting, and make you the toughest competition this side of the couch.

Pitching

Learn how to throw the five different types of pitches. To pitch in general, simply raise the Wii controller over your shoulder and then thrust it forward. Thrust the controller forward quickly to throw a fastball, thrust it forward slowly to throw a change-up, hold down “A” and thrust the controller forward for a screwball, hold “B” and thrust the controller forward for a curveball and hold down both “A” and “B” and thrust the controller forward for a splitter.

Press left and right on the directional pad to pitch inside or outside. You usually want to pitch down the middle or inside because outside pitches are easy to hit especially for homeruns. Use the “1” and “2” buttons to switch between overhand and underhand throwing.

Change pitch types every pitch. You need to keep an element of surprise to your pitches when playing baseball against other people, so try not to get into a pattern.

Throw screwballs on the inside of the plate and curveballs on the outside of the plate to right-handed hitters and vice-versa to left-handed hitters.

Use fastballs and splitters sparingly to make them effective. The fastball is a good change of pace, especially when thrown really hard after a curveball or screwball. Splitters are almost impossible to hit, but if the batter doesn’t swing it will probably be a ball.

Watch your pitcher’s composure. After a while you will see a sweat symbol appear over your pitcher which means he or she is getting tired. Your pitches will be slower and less accurate and the likelihood of throwing a failed pitch, which is when a exclamation point appears over the pitcher’s head and the pitch is slow and right over the plate.

Batting

Stand and position yourself like a real batter. It really does help, and while you can flick your wrist and the batter will swing, standing like a true batter with your left shoulder facing the television (or right shoulder if you are left handed), feet apart slightly and holding the Wii controller like a bat will help you make better contact more frequently.

Swing often. You will see more strikes than balls so you should have lots of opportunities to hit. Adjust to who you are playing against though, because if someone knows you are a free swinger, they are more likely to throw balls.

Hit the ball as hard as possible and swing from lower to higher. This will increase the odds of you hitting a homerun or to the outfield which gives you a better chance to get on base.

Practice with the training games in Wii sports. The homerun derby will help you perfect your homerun swing, the contact drill will help you recognize pitches and the swing control drill will help you time your swings.

Bunt by holding the Wii controller out in front of you. It is hard to get a hit with a bunt, but you can sacrifice and move runners over with a bunt to allow them to score easier on a base hit.

Fielding happens automatically so you only have to worry about pitching and hitting.

Did we miss something on diversity?

Research shows a connection between kids’ healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That’s why we’ve added a new “Diverse Representations” section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.

Suggest an update Wii Sports

A lot or a little?

The parents’ guide to what’s in this movie.

Kids can learn about healthy body movement as well as the basic rules of some common sports in this accessible collection of sports-themed mini-games for up to four players. Activities encourage players to move their arms in gestures mimicking real sports, which should result in a light workout. Kids will learn fundamental elements of each game while they play, such as scoring rules and various shot types. They’ll also practice their social and friendship skills when playing in a group. Wii Sports‘ goal is to have fun in a group, but young kids will likely come away better aware of what it means to play the five sports featured.

Fosters cross-generational gameplay. However the gameplay in Wii Boxing involves punching opponents for sport.

The avatars in the game mimic your motions. The other Miis on the screen are supportive of your efforts to play sports and get exercise.

The game comes with excellent tutorials and is easy for all ages to play.

In Wii Boxing players simulate a punching motion by swinging their arms. These punches hit an opponent’s face and body; there’s wincing and a thudding sound, but no blood. You win a round by knocking an opponent out.

The baseball scoreboard says “Nintendo Wii,” and there’s a banner advertising Wii Sports in the tennis stadium. All other banners display innocuous, made-up slogans like “Big Bat,” “Superstars,” “Power Up!” and “Hit a home run!”

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Wii Sports is a virtual sports game that everyone from 5-year-olds to grandparents can enjoy. It comes bundled with every new Wii console. While the multiplayer mode is the most fun feature, parents should make sure that all players have enough room to move and swing their arms. The only violence occurs in the boxing game, which parents of younger kids can skip. It requires players to jab with the Wii controls, hitting an opponent’s virtual head and body to try to knock the opponent out.

Wii Sports Is The BEST Video Game EVER Created

Very fun game to play!

Perfect when outside weather is not so good

The greatest game in gaming history!

What’s it about?

Bundled free with every Wii console, WII SPORTS is a collection of five mini-games that does a great job of introducing players to the Wii’s fun motion-sensitive controller. You’ll use the Wii remote (at times paired with the Nunchuk) to mimic the actions of swinging a golf club, baseball bat, and tennis racket. Up to four players can play Wii Sports, and there’s also a single-player mode against computer opponents. Players are represented by their Miis (cartoon-like customized avatars), and any other Miis stored on the Wii will randomly appear as teammates and spectators.

Is it any good?

Are the games simplistic at times? Sure — Wii Baseball, for example, is little more than a batting cage where you try to hit balls out of the park. But in Wii Tennis, your player moves around the court automatically, but you control the ball’s direction, spin, and speed as you hit forehands, backhands, overheads, and lobs. The only game that might concern parents is Wii Boxing, where two boxers square off with the goal of knocking each other out.

Because of its simplicity and easy-to-learn controls, Wii Sports is the kind of game that everyone — even non-gamers — can participate in together, and that’s what makes it so compelling. It fosters cross-generational interaction, making it great to bring out at family gatherings and parties. And the fun multiplayer mode means endless re-playability. This game ushers in a new way of playing video games, one that motivates players to move, stretch, bend, swing their arms, and be active.

The Wii is Nintendo’s most popular home console, selling upwards of 100 million units since its launch in 2006. Of those millions of consoles, 82 million came equipped with one specific game: Wii Sports. Wii Sports and the complementary Wii Fit functioned as a riposte against the generational stigma attached to games, largely dismantling the idea that video games were exclusively tied to a younger demographic. The Wii has even become a valuable asset in nursing homes, where elderly people can hit home runs in baseball, score strikes in bowling, and, sink holes-in-one in the hugely popular Wii Sports Golf.

Wii Sports is generally remembered as a fun-oriented game, something light to play with friends and family. That’s why it’s strange to consider the bizarre speedrunning scene attached to Wii Sports Golf where players compete to finish a round as quickly as possible using a variety of different techniques. In this category, players who go by the handles Dannyh09 and Alaskaxp2 hold world records for first and second place, respectively.

“I started to speedrun ‘Golf 9 Hole’ in Wii Sports so I could practice specific things for my ‘All Sports’ runs,” Alaska, a 15-year-old from North Carolina, tells me. All Sports is another category in the Wii Sports speedrunning scene in which runners attempt to finish every game in the Wii Sports oeuvre as quickly as possible. However, Alaska quickly realized that the world record at the time was beatable. In their words, it wasn’t “optimized,” meaning that it didn’t represent a perfect run with zero mistakes. Since then, the record has been surpassed by almost an entire minute.

“I grinded out a couple hundred attempts and beat it by less than a second on August 19th,” Alaska says. However, after several months as top dog, Alaska lost their spot to a new kid on the block. “A top Super Mario Maker creator named DannyH09 came into the community and found his game really quickly,” they say. “That’s when I started to get worried, and the community began to center around 9 Hole, making for several new runners and a lot of strategy development.”

Wii Sports is the game I first played on the Nintendo Wii because it came with it,” says current world record holder Danny, a 21-year-old from England. Danny always enjoyed Wii Sports Golf the most, possessing an adroitness for the game since he was nine years old. He revisited it in 2018 out of nostalgia and immediately realized that he could storm through 9 Hole quickly and accurately, despite only playing for fun.

Wii Sports Club on the Wii U.

“After timing a 9 Hole run at 5:20, I discovered that the world record was 5:18 on speedrun.com,” Danny says. “I found the Wii Series speedrunning Discord server and met a bunch of other people speedrunning golf. I managed to obtain world records in the 9 Hole Golf and 3 Hole Golf categories which still remain unbeaten.” Danny’s current time sits at 4:36:70, roughly 43.3 seconds faster than the record Alaska originally set out to beat in August 2018. Alongside this, Danny also has world records in 18 Hole Golf and “a bunch of the 3 Hole categories.”

“Back when I was really speedrunning in 2018, there were five or six active runners who were all pretty much equally skilled,” Alaska says. This surge in popularity occurred after Alaska broke a record that went unbeaten for several months. Once people realized the scene was on the rise again, Wii Sports Golf became more popular than ever. However, Danny’s records don’t look like they’ll be beaten anytime soon. “Golf isn’t as competitive as it used to be now the world records are optimized,” Danny explains. According to Alaska, only one person has a personal best within 20 seconds of Danny’s 4:36. As a result, 9 Hole — originally the most competitive Wii Sports Golf run — is essentially dead.

That’s not to say the whole scene is dead. Although Danny started out with Wii Sports Golf, he has since become invested in the wider Wii Sports scene. “[Golf] is definitely challenging but the All Sports category is the most challenging,” he notes, mentioning that baseball is particularly tough. “I have attempted All Sports ‘No Baseball,’ which is a popular category within the community.” However, according to Danny, All Sports proper has become the most prestigious run in the community in recent years.

The fact remains that these runners resurrected a dead and bizarre speedrunning category in order to shave almost an entire minute off the world record over a relatively short period of time. As a community, these runners devised and perfected strategies for skipping animations, speeding up shots, and all sorts of other techniques designed for the sole purpose of saving time. “In Golf, we do a no-backswing drive to start each hole,” Danny says. “I use no backswing on every shot, even putting.” In order to pull this off, you need to press and hold A and immediately swing the controller forward, which makes for a much faster shot.

Meanwhile, according to Alaska, a technique known as the “Driver flag shot” is the whole reason why the world record ever dropped below five minutes. “It saves four to seven seconds on any hole and involves using a driver and smacking it into a flag so that the ball rolls off and drops into the hole,” they say. “Another thing is using non-recommended clubs in order to make shots bounce less.” Some runners even purposely forfeit on the eighth hole in order to eliminate the luck factor involved in potentially scoring a birdie. “This costs about three to four seconds from a good birdie but saves four to six [seconds] if the birdie’s missed for a par.”

Danny uses the driver flag shot, too, specifically mentioning that it saves a massive amount of time if used from the bunker on the second hole. “Judgment is key in putting,” he adds. “Knowing how far left or right to aim depending on how the green slopes seems to come naturally to myself and other speedrunners of this category.”

Along with being weird and wonderful, the Wii Sports Golf scene is wide and wild. The sequel, Wii Sports Resort, operates according to completely different strategies. “Wii Sports Resort Golf is totally different because we play to not chip-in or land too close to the hole,” Danny says. “This triggers a replay and we lose a ton of time — using backspin is key with north winds to land on the green and get the ball to stop rolling and save a few seconds.”

It’s strange to consider how Wii Sports Golf speedrunning came into play. Runners from all over the world gradually converted this family-friendly game into a surprisingly intense competitive scene, to the extent that they exhausted it almost as quickly as they brought it into being. Some communities persist for years before a world record is set in stone, and even still, they are reinvigorated with the launch of a new patch or the rise of a new player.

Secret – Anyway they are very good cheats i must say

heres cheats they take long time to type out please be nice to me bout them they came from a free cheat book from a mag

Bowling ball color

Change your bowling ball color before u bowl by using the directional pad. When you reach
the screen saying, ‘Make sure nothing is around you,’ press A and hold the D-pad (until
the alley appears) to choose your color: UP = blue; LEFT = red; DOWN = green; RIGHT =
yellow or change

Special Bowling ball

You must achieve Pro level on the bowling game.

Change tennis court/ no meter golf

At the warning screen after selecting characters in Tennis or Golf, hold down 2.

In the ‘Power throws’ training game in bowling, turn either left or right until there are
4 red bars pointing in the direction of your choice across the bowling line. More often
then not this will give you a strike.

In the “power throws” training game for bowling, there are two red buttons at the end of
the alley – one left and one right. When you get to the final bowl for 91 pins, you can
bowl the ball along the top of the barrier on either side and hit this button. Aim as far
across the barrier as possible and let go of the ball at the highest point, with just a
tiny bit of spin to keep the ball on te barrier. You’ll hear a click, the screen will
shake and all the pins will fall down.

This cheats took ages to type out so please give nice comments about them. Thanks!

The pitcher will toss 10 balls at you and your job is to hit as many as you can. They will only count if the ball is a home run. If the ball goes further than 400 feet, then you pretty much have a home run. If you can manage to get the ball out of the park, you gain a huge shout from the audience. To get it out of the park, you will need a ball to go about 600 ft.

At first, you pretty much won’t care how far your hits will go, as long as you get home runs. However to get the Platinum medal, you are required to hit all 10 shots with a score of 5650 ft. or higher to qualify. Learning when to hit the ball is your biggest bet in getting that great score. Hitting the ball too early or too late results in the ball traveling past the foul line, which doesn’t count.

When you fail to hit a ball, only just touch it, hit a foul ball or generally don’t hit a home run, the ball space in your tracker will appear blank. If it is a home run, it will be a golden star. If it is an “Out of The Park” (requiring anything between 180 m for the side of the stadium to 210 m for the front of the stadium), then there will be a much bigger golden star.

Swing Control [ edit ]

Medal Requirements

Bronze Medal 25 pts
Silver Medal 40 pts
Gold Medal 55 pts
Platinum Medal 65 pts

As before, the pitcher will throw ten baseballs at your way and your job is to hit them. This time though, you have to hit the ball in the blue shaded area. The darker the color, the more points you earn. The path the ball takes will be shown in orange.

Points

Bad zone (good hit) 1 pts
White zone 3 pts
Blue zone 6 pts
Darker blue zone 10 pts

The first four throws takes the ball in a straight path. Hit the ball at the correct time to get the ball in that spot. They are absolutely straight so just hit the ball at the right time. Throws 5–7 take the path a little to the left (or right if you are left handed). Hit the ball a little early and the ball will lean to the left but don’t hit the ball too early! Throws 8–10 take the path to the right (or left if you’re left handed). Hitting the ball a little late should make the ball travel a little to the right. But don’t hit the ball too late!

Batting Practice [ edit ]

Medal Requirements

Bronze Medal 15 pts
Silver Medal 20 pts
Gold Medal 27 pts
Platinum Medal 30 pts

The pitcher will throw you a total of 30 balls. Your job is to hit as many as you can out of the possible 30. The first few pitches are over the plate but don’t be fooled! He can throw curve balls, slow ones, and fast ones!

Remember everything you know about batting. The balls do not have to stay fair, but only foul balls that are still hit quite far count – foul balls that are just nicked behind you don’t count. You really need to practice a lot if you want to get all 30 of them. Easier said than done! Nonetheless, it’s possible with practice.
