Dig, Fight, and Build your way through the world of player-created mods on Terraria with tModLoader – this DLC makes modding Terraria a reality!

tModLoader (TML) is an open-source, community-driven modification and expansion of the Terraria game that makes it possible to make and play mods. TML expands your Terraria adventures with new content to explore created by the Terraria community! TML allows players to create and play Terraria mods and is designed in such a way so that you can play alone or together with friends – with one mod or with multiple, choose to play however you like!

NOTE: It is required that all your friends also install TML if you want to play together; it is not possible for vanilla users to play with TML users.

SUPPORT
Looking for some help? You can receive support on our forum thread on Terraria Community Forums or our Discord server! These are our best places to get support, and they are both linked directly from our Website, which you will find below on our Steam Store Page.

tModLoader is an open-source project. This means the code is publicly available and anyone can make contributions to the project. Our project can be found on Github, linked via our Website.

Do you want to learn more about the inner workings for tModLoader? Maybe you want to use tModLoader right now? You can get started with our guide for players linked below on our Steam Page under “View the Manual. There are also pages for developers and contributors. Our wiki is filled with guides that learn you how to mod using tModLoader.

Here are some important things to know when you Install and get ready to dive into tModLoader:

  • You do not have to make any backups
  • Simply update Terraria to 1.4 and install tModLoader on Steam
  • You can play vanilla Terraria 1.4 and TML 1.3.5 alongside each other; tModLoader through Steam is treated as a separate game.
  • tModLoader for the 1.4 version of the game will come at a later date.
  • Steam Workshop is not supported as of yet, but is planned.
  • The Mod Browser will exist just as it is now, and we will not force Steam Workshop use
  • You can still use the 64 bit variant of tModLoader, but only as a separate installation
  • With the new release, tModLoader can be installed anywhere regardless of location or whether it is a Steam install.
  • tModLoader will work for Windows, Mac and Linux

How will this affect me? Will my mods still work when Terraria 1.4 is released?
When the Terraria 1.4 update happens, your current Terraria install will automatically update to 1.4, thereby making any current non-Steam tModLoader install unable to load due to these version differences.

To fix this, simply install tModLoader via Steam! tModLoader on Steam is installed independently from Terraria, with a separate entry in your Steam library, allowing you to switch between Terraria and tModLoader just by launching the version of the game you wish to play. Your mods, players, and worlds will all still be there.

Does this mean tModLoader has updated to 1.4?
No, that is still to come. tModLoader on Steam means tModLoader (on 1.3.5) and Terraria (on 1.4) will coexist without any effort from the user.

I currently use tModLoader 64 bit, how will that work?
tModLoader on Steam is launching with the 32 bit version of the application. We are still discussing potential ways to bring 64 bit along perhaps sometime in the future.. At the very least, you’ll should be able to manually install 64 bit over regular tModLoader as you have up until now. (It’ll just be in the tModLoader folder now, instead of Terraria)

What about Steam workshop support?
Steam Workshop is planned, but won’t be part of the initial release.

Hello and welcome to my step by step tutorial on how to install mods.

So enough with the chit-chat and let’s get down to business!

The first thing you will need is a file manager like WinRAR or 7ZIP.

Once downloaded and fully operational, you are going to need to download Risugami’s Modloader.

Modloader is the tool which is 1000 times better than any mod on the planet for 1 reason only, it is the mod that lets you install mods! Also ModloaderMP and MinecraftForge are needed for certain mods, so here are the download links for all 3 of the above

Here is the Modloader download (1.2.3) – Download

Here is the ModloaderMP download (1.2.3) – Download

Here is the MinecraftForge download (1.2.3) – Download

Now you have Modloader downloaded and saved somewhere you need to open it up with WinRAR (or 7ZIP).

Now you need to get to your Minecraft.jar.

To do this get to the Run console and type in %appdata% and enter it. Click onto Roaming and it will open up every single application folder on your PC. Find .Minecraft and enter the folder.

Now you are in .Minecraft, enter the bin (lol) and right click on the Minecraft.jar and Open With. WinRAR (or 7ZIP). This opens up what is pretty much the game. Don’t delete anything unless I tell you to!

Ok so you should have your Minecraft.jar and Modloader open. Now Ctrl+A all the files in Modloader and drag them across into the Minecraft.jar.

Now delete the folder called META-INF (if not deleted you will get blackscreen).

Do the same for MinecraftForge and ModloaderMP.

Exit the Minecraft.jar and launch Minecraft. Wait until the Main Menu appears and then close Minecraft.

Now if you go back to your .Minecraft folder (the same way as before) you should see that a few new files have generated, the one we are intrested in specifically is the mods folder.

In the next tutorial I will show you how to install some specific mods because some are different to others.

Overview

For quite a long time, Forge was the most popular modloader for Minecraft, with very little competition. A majority of mods and modpacks were created exclusively for Forge, leaving little room for alternatives. When Minecraft 1.13 released, Forge allegedly had slow development, allowing newer modloaders to take some spotlight. Introducing Fabric, a modloader that has been available since Minecraft 1.14 and aims to be significantly more lightweight compared to Forge. With Apex Hosting, installing Fabric is very easy, so today we will show you how to do so.

Panel Installation

  1. Navigate to your Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
  2. Scroll down to the JAR File section, then use the menu to select your desired version.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Fabric can also be installed on a server manually, if you decide to choose a specific version.

Client Installation

  1. Navigate to the Fabric download page.
  2. We recommend selecting the Universal download for all supported Operating Systems.

Getting Started:

Installing mods is very similar to installing Forge mods, with a few differences:

Fabric API

A majority of Fabric mods require the Fabric API mod in order to run. Because of this, installing it is often recommended by default.

Access the FabricAPI CurseForge page, then press Files at the top.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Finding Mods

Since Fabric runs differently to Forge, you will need to ensure you download the Fabric version of mods. The easiest way is to browse for Fabric mods on CurseForge.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Once you find a mod, we recommend going to “Files” at the top, then checking the name to see if it says Fabric or Forge. Once you find your mod and version, you can press the download button to save it.

Mod Installation (Server)

  1. Navigate to your Apex Server Panel, then proceed to the FTP File Access on the left.
  2. Once logged in, locate and enter the mods folder.
  3. Press Upload in the top-left.
  4. Drag + drop the Fabric API file, as well as any other Fabric mods you desire.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Mod Installation (Client)

  1. Open the Minecraft launcher, then access Installations at the top.
  2. Locate the Fabric profile, then press the folder button to the far-right.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Remember, in order to join a modded server, you must have the same mods installed on your own client in order to match.

Common Issues:

I get an error when I start the game or server:
Oftentimes, this means there is a problem with one of the mods. Ensure that you have downloaded Fabric-compatible mods for your matching game version. Otherwise, check the Relations tab on a mod’s CurseForge page to check for dependencies.

My mods don’t appear in-game:
This can occur for a number of reasons. Firstly, ensure you are launching your Fabric version and see if the title screen mentions Fabric. If not, retry the installation for both Fabric and make sure the mods are inside of the mods folder.

Trying to join my server gives an error:
Oftentimes, this error occurs because the game client and server do not match. Make sure that your own mod files match the server’s exactly. If there is a difference, you may get errors when trying to join.

Step 4 – With your Minecraft Forge folder open and your minecraft jar file open, go into your Minecraft Forge folder, click edit, then click select all. Then drag all files/folders into your minecraft jar file. Do not delete any files/folders!

Step 5 – Close both folders and open your Minecraft. Login and do anything you normally would. If you get a black screen or it freezes, re-open Minecraft, click options, and click force update. Then repeat this process and see if it works. If it does work please message me!

A game like Minecraft gets even better though with mods. There are a lot of great Minecraft mods that players can download to give Minecraft a complete overhaul. Players can add new content, change the gameplay, modify the creative aspect of it, optimize it and so much more.

Do you want to get into this too? Then you are at the right place. In this guide, we will take a look at how to download Minecraft Mods.

How To Download Minecraft Mods 2022

In order to download mods for Minecraft, firstly visit a site that is safe and trusted. During your search, you will end up on some sites that might send some viruses your way if you download Minecraft mods from there. Make sure to choose only those sites or forums which are popular. You might also be shown ads that can entice you to click on fake download buttons. The internet is a tricky place sometimes so be careful of what you click on.

Once you have found a trusted site like Minecraftforum.net, Minecraftmods.com or Planetminecraft.com, scroll through the mods they have to offer. If you like something, read more information about it. If everything sounds good to you then go ahead and click the Download button. This will download Minecraft mod for you.

Note that some mods have been made specially for the Minecraft Forge API. More on this below.

  • Hi, in this guide I will explain how to install a Minecraft mod!

If you are following this guide you probably know what a mod is and how it works, if you don’t know I’ll explain it to you briefly

A mod essentially modifies the game itself, there are mods that boost FPS, mods that add items to the game, mods that add mobs (pardon the pun) and so on. There is a mod for anything you want and they are created by users like you.

Ok very well, now that you know what a mod is you must also know that mods are mainly divided into 2 groups, namely Fabric and Forge. Fabric mods can’t still go with Forge mods and Forge mods can’t go with Fabric mods. Whether a mod is Fabric or Forge is usually specified on the mod download page. However, there are some exceptions such as Optifine, which is a mod in itself that boosts FPS, adds capes to the game and just download and install it without making strange machinations around your PC. But we won’t talk about Optifine today. Returning to us you must also pay attention to the versions of the mods because for example if you put a mod for 1.12 with one for 1.16 the game will crash, which is certainly not pleasant.

Ok now let’s move on to installing a Forge mod. I personally prefer the Forge mods as they are more stable and reliable

How to install a FORGE mod!

The first step in installing a Forge mod is to install the Forge “engine” or “mod loader”. Now a question arises: How is it done?

First go to this link and choose the version you prefer, most of the mods right now are for 1.12 / 1.16 / 1.18, so I would download one of these three, but if you want for example 1.7.2 you are free to use that. If you want you can also install more versions of Forge but remember that the mods of different versions are not compatible.

ATTENTION: For whichever version you choose choose (sorry again for the pun) always the “recommended download” as it is more stable.

Ok now it will download you an .exe file named in something like “Forge-installer-1.x.x”. Now go to the “download folder of your PC and there you will find the file you just downloaded, open it with a double click, give all the permissions and please, select” install Forge client “and do not” install Forge server “! Now if you want you can also delete the .exe file.

Now if you open the Minecraft launcher (the old one if you downloaded a version 1.17.x or lower) and select “new installation” and search among the versions “Forge- 1.x.x bla bla bla”, select it and if you want you can also rename the installation as you like, for convenience I suggest you use “Forge 1.x.x” as the name.

ATTENTION: Before starting Forge for the first time it is necessary to have started at least once the vanilla version (without mod) of the Forge version chosen for our mods!

The “engine” for our mods is ready, now we “just” have to add the mods, don’t worry it will be very easy!

A great mod site is Curseforge , you will find over 100.000 great mods to choose from, both for Fabric and Forge! (I swear I’m not sponsored by Curseforge lol). Choose the mod you want, not necessarily from Curseforge, in fact there are others on YouTube or in some site on Google. I will use “Just enough items” as an example, a very popular and useful mod that helps you with crafting, to find out more click here.

Wait up! One last thing, then don’t bother you anymore, before downloading the mod you have chosen make sure you have the Java programming language installed on your PC, in case you don’t have it click here to download it.

OK, very good! Now you can safely download the mod you want from Google, for any mod the file name will change but it will always end in .jar, do not worry if the PC antivirus detects the mod as a dangerous file, this warning actually has a sense, as often the .jar files are carriers of various viruses such as trojans or more generally various malaware, so when you download a mod always be very careful and always check what you are downloading, in any case the mod that I am taking as an example it is not a virus at all! After this little warning for your safety click on keep the file.

We were saying, the mod you downloaded will also be found in the “download” folder of your PC. Now type in the search box “% appdata%” (remove the quotes please) and press enter. In the folder that opens, open the “.minecraft” folder and then the “mods” folder. In this folder there are all the mods you have, but since you are following this guide it will probably be empty, however now you drag your mod into “mods” and that’s it! You have installed your first mod! Now open the Minecraft launcher and start the Forge “engine”, if everything went correctly in the bottom left of the main menu of Minecraft “3 mods loaded” will appear, one is Minecraft vanilla, one Minecraft Forge and the last will be our mod! If you have more mods installed you will clearly be shown a number other than 3

For all other Forge mods that you will want to install simply repeat what you have done since the mod download so far!

DISCLAIMER: Anything you do with the mods you install is your responsibility, so don’t take it with me if they are hacks or viruses

I hope you now know how to install a Forge mod, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to write below in the comments or private messages that I will reply to you as soon as possible! If I have been useful to you leave me a like please, I would be very grateful

If this guide gets a lot of likes, I’ll also create a guide for Fabric

Excuse me if some translations are not the best but I’m not English

    Overview

One of the most exciting parts about playing Minecraft is using mods. Mods allow for customization past Vanilla Minecraft and can really change your gameplay in some awesome ways. However, adding mods is not as simple as just putting them into a mods folder. You must be running the Minecraft Forge version in order for these mods to work. Forge is great as this modding API allows for the tens of thousands of mods out there to be added to your client. Installing it is not too difficult and today we will be walking you through all of the steps how to install Forge.

Don’t forget that Forge is only for Minecraft: Java Edition and is not made for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

There are many ways to install Forge on your Minecraft client. We will be walking you through how to install it on your base Minecraft Launcher and how you can do it through the Twitch Desktop App.

    1. Head to the official Forge website. To the left of the page, you will see a listing of all Minecraft versions.
    2. Find the version of Minecraft that you want to run and click it. It’s best to stick with the recommended version but if you want to go with another one they will all be listed on this page.
    3. Once you decide on which to download, click the Installer download.
    4. Once you run the installer, it will open a popup. You will want to select Install Client and wait for it to finish installing.
    5. Open Minecraft and make sure that the version to the left of the play button is set to Forge, then click Play.
    6. Once Minecraft is fully launched, go ahead and close it. This will generate the necessary files for Forge in the Minecraft directory.
    1. Head to the official Forge website. To the left of the page, you will see a listing of all Minecraft versions. Find the version of Minecraft that you want to run and click it.
    2. Same with WIndows, it’s best to stick with the recommended version but if you want to go with another one they will all be listed on this page. Once you decide on which to download, click the Installer download.
    3. Go to your downloads folder and drag the file to your desktop and open the file.
    4. If you get an error that it can’t be opened because it’s from an unidentified developer, you will want to go to System Preferences, search Security, and towards the bottom you should see a message about it being blocked. To the left of it, click Open Anyway and then click Open again.
    5. Once the file is opened, go ahead and click Install Client and then press OK.
    6. Go to your Applications folder and open up Minecraft. Make sure the version is set to Forge and then click Play.

    Twitch Desktop App

    1. Open the Twitch Desktop App, and head to the “Mods” tab.
    2. Select “Minecraft” and go to the “Create Custom Profile” tab.
    3. Enter in any name for “Profile Name”, select the version of Minecraft you want your server to run, and leave the “Modloader” at the latest Forge.
    4. Click Create, then head to the “My Modpacks” tab. You should see your new profile being listed there.
    5. Make sure all other Minecraft launchers are closed and click “Play”.

    Common Issues

Version doesn’t show up in Minecraft
If you have installed Forge but you aren’t seeing the version being listed, it’s highly likely that you installed the server version instead of the client one. Make sure to double-check this.

    Forge install failing
If you seem to be unable to install Forge, make sure that you have run the native version of Minecraft first. This generates the proper directories in which Forge is installed to.

    Conclusion

Adding Forge to your Minecraft client is the first step to enhance your Minecraft experience. By adding Forge, you can get access to the endless mods available on sites such as CurseForge. If you have seen videos of mod packs or similar, all of these require Forge to work as well. Don’t forget that if you own a server, Forge must be installed on both your Minecraft client and your server.

Select the profile called Forge, then select Play.

Wait for the game to fully load, then exit Minecraft.

Loading and exiting Minecraft with the Forge profile selected completes the installation of Forge. Once you’ve finished this process, you’re ready to start installing Forge-dependent Minecraft mods.

    What Is Minecraft Forge?

Minecraft Forge is a free application program interface (API) and mod loader for Minecraft: Java Edition. Mod developers within the Minecraft community use the API to simplify the creation of their mods, then players use Forge to automatically load compatible mods.

Minecraft is great on its own, but installing community-built Minecraft mods opens up brand new ways to play, and some of the best ones are built on Minecraft Forge. Mods are literally user-created modifications for Minecraft that add new content, make it run better and look better, make your life easier in-game, and more. You need Forge first, so we’ll show you how to install Minecraft Forge, and then provide some tips on what to do once you have it.

    What Does Minecraft Forge Do?

In less technical terms, Minecraft Forge is makes it extremely easy to install compatible Minecraft mods. If a mod supports Forge, then you can install that mod by literally dragging and dropping the files if you have Forge installed.

    Forge vs. the Vanilla Version

How to install modloader for minecraft

When you download and install Minecraft Forge, Minecraft: Java Edition provides you with the option to play the vanilla edition or your Forge-modded edition every time you play. Choosing Forge causes Minecraft Forge to automatically load all of your mods, while choosing the vanilla version allows you to play without any mods.

Due to the way you can choose to load Forge or vanilla Minecraft, you never have to worry about Forge or an individual mod breaking your game. If something weird happens, you can always just play the vanilla version of Minecraft until a patch arrives for Forge, the offending mod, or Minecraft itself.

Major Minecraft updates often cause bugs with Forge and individual mods. When that happens, you can choose to run the vanilla version until additional patches arrive, or try removing all your mods and adding them back in one at a time to see which one is causing trouble.

Minecraft Forge Is a Mod Loader

As a player, Minecraft Forge is an automated mod loader. It checks for compatible mods, then loads them up each time you play, as long as you choose Forge from the Minecraft: Java Edition profile menu. You can run as many mods as you want, although running too many can cause performance issues, and some mods don’t work well with others.

Mods can improve or alter the graphics of your game, introduce new game modes and mechanics, improve inventory and crafting systems, and more. There’s even a mod to add the same type of virtual reality functionality to Minecraft: Java Edition that Minecraft for Windows 10 has right out of the box.

How to Use Mods With Forge

The best part is that, since Forge is an automated loader, all you have to do is download the mod you want, place it into your Minecraft folder, and launch Minecraft. As long as you have the Forge profile selected, your mod will load with no additional configuration or work required on your part.

This guide explains how to install mods onto your Fabric client. Fabric, like Forge, is a version of Minecraft that allows for mods to be run on both the server and client. For clients, Fabric offers many mods such as minimaps, HUD improvements, OptiFine integrations, and more.

To install Fabric mods onto your game, you’ll need to have Fabric installed onto your client. You can view our tutorial on how to install Fabric for your client here: How to install Fabric on your PC

    1. Download any mods you want to install onto your client. You can find Fabric mods on any sort of mod website, such as CurseForge. For this example, we’ll be installing Hwyla.
      • Note that a large number of Fabric mods, including Hwyla, require the Fabric API; You can download the Fabric API from here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fabric-api
    2. Once the mods have been downloaded, navigate to your Minecraft install folder. This varies per operating system and install, but should look something like this depending on your platform:
        • Windows: %AppData%/.minecraft or C:/Users/(username)/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft
        • MacOS:

    /Library/Application Support/minecraft
    Linux:

    /.minecraft

  • Open the mods folder in your Minecraft install folder. If there isn’t a mods folder there, you can create it.
  • Move the mod JAR files that you downloaded into the mods folder in your Minecraft install folder.
How to install modloader for minecraft
  • After moving all the files, open the Minecraft Launcher and start the game using your Fabric profile.
  • After loading your game and loading into a world, all of your mods should be accessible. For some mods, they’ll need to be installed on both the client and the server in order to work in multiplayer; you can read our guide on how to install Fabric mods for your server here: How to install Fabric Mods on your Minecraft Server

Roll back the client and access great old Minecraft mods.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Got a mod that isn’t compatible with the latest version of Minecraft? Don’t worry, fixing that is nice and simple. Some mods require you to roll back to an older version of Minecraft, and some require you to install older legacy versions of Forge. Here’s a quick guide to doing both.

    Rolling back the client

If you can’t wait for your favourite mod to make the jump to the latest version, you can easily rollback the game client to previous versions, such as the widely supported 1.2.5.

    1. Download the 1.2.5 Jar file from the Minecraft servers.

    2. Type %appdata% into either the Start Bar or the Run command prompt.

    3. Open the .minecraft folder and, inside it, the bin folder.

    4. Back the existing Minecraft.jar for when you want to upgrade back to 1.3.2, then copy and replace the 1.2.5 jar file into the bin folder.

    Installing legacy versions of Forge

    1. Check which version of Minecraft you need to use the mod. Normally this will be listed in the mod’s description.

    2. Head here and download the version of Forge you need.

    3. Run the file and install it.

    4. Load up the Minecraft launcher and head over to ‘Launcher Options.’

    5. Name it, then below click on the version drop down box and find the Forge you just installed. Click save, then select the version from the ‘Play’ menu and your older mods should work without any issues.

Now, you’re free to enjoy any of the great, sadly outdated mods available for the game. Mods such as:

Technic Pack: A huge bundle of mods that overhaul many aspects of the game to massively up the number of buildings and contraptions you can construct.

Mo Creatures: Adds 32 new species to the game, including crocodiles, foxes, ogres and werewolves.

Flans Mod: Fight them on the beaches, and in the forests and the mines and everywhere else with this pack full of World War 2 themed planes, vehicles and weapons.

Thaumcraft: Boosts the enchantment system massively with a bunch of powerful spells that can be added to weapons and items. Unbelievable Shaders: Gorgeous lighting effects and texture rendering tweaks to make Minecraft feel more alive than ever.

Water Shader: Gives water a moving, reflective surface to – shock of shocks – make it actually look and behave like water.

Find dozens more in our roundup of the best Minecraft mods.

So you’ve bought Minecraft and spent some time mucking around in a blocky wonderland–and now you want a little more out of the experience. This is where mods come in.

    Single-Player Modding

Installing mods for a single-player client is a somewhat convoluted process. The steps vary from mod to mod, so you’ll want to follow the instructions listed on the particular mod you’re looking for, but the general technique is the same. I’ll walk through installing one mod on Windows: Minecraft user jamioflan’s World War 2 Guns. This mod adds MP40s, bazookas, and the like, to exact vengeance on nefarious hordes of zombies and creepers.

Jamioflan’s forum post provides links to the mod proper, along with a few necessary files: ModLoader, AudioMod, and ModLoaderMP. The Minecraft community developed those three tools to enable mods to function properly. You’ll also need a compression tool–WinRAR or 7-Zip–so grab one of them (I use 7-Zip) if you don’t have an app handy already.

First find the ‘minecraft.jar’ file. Click the Start button, and type ” %appdata% ” into the search window (without quotation marks but with one space before and another after the typed string) to get to Windows’ application data folder. The folder ‘.minecraft’ will be at the top. Open the folder titled ‘bin’, and look for the file ‘minecraft.jar’–this is where the magic happens.

When you find it, make a copy of ‘minecraft.jar’, and stash it somewhere. If something goes wrong, you’ll want a clean copy to start over with. Right-click the original minecraft.jar, and open the archive with Win-RAR/7-Zip. You’ll see a long list of files in a new window. Follow the instructions provided by the mod at this point: For the WW2 Guns mod, you’ll copy all of the ‘.class’ files from ModLoader, ModloaderMP, AudioMod, and the WW2 Guns mod into the open ‘minecraft.jar’ archive.

The last and most important step: Delete the ‘META-INF’ folder inside the ‘minecraft.jar’ file; otherwise, Minecraft will just crash when you start it up. Close the file when you’re done.

And with that, you’re set! This particular mod requires collecting materials, so if you want to see whether it worked, create a new world in Create mode, and spawn a few guns to see them in action.

    Server Modding

Installing mods on the server client is much easier.

The first step is to install CraftBukkit and have it running on the server. The Bukkit wiki offers instructions, as well as a pair of simple applications that will get you started without any code-wrangling.

The first option, involves ‘How to Install Bukkit (Newb Friendly)’, a simple batch file that will look for any server mods and fire up your server with them enabled. Download this file and then double-click the html shortcut file labeled Latest CraftBukkit Download to get the latest version of the CraftBukkit Java executable.

Stick that and the CraftBukkit Starter.bat file you’ve already downloaded into your Minecraft server, and double-click the batch file. It will open a console window, create a fresh world (or tap into yours), and start your server.

The second option is a bit more robust. ImminentFate’s CraftBukkit Installer is a Windows-only application that you’ll need to install on your PC. Once it’s running, the app will list all of the plug-ins that it finds. CraftBukkit Installer is definitely the more user-friendly of the two options, with a clean interface and neat features, including managing worlds and attempting to automatically update all of the plug-ins you’re using.

Whichever option you choose, installing mods is simple: Download one, and dump it into the ‘plugins’ folder that either app creates.

    Finding Mods

Now you just need to find these mods I keep talking about. The official Minecraft forums’ Mods section is a good place to start looking, if you just want to browse new, popular additions to your experience. The mods can range from adding new blocks and tools, to introducing full-fledged conversions that turn Minecraft into an entirely new experience. Many of them are technically cheats–mods that tell you where to find rare minerals or that add macro commands for controlling your health levels and the like. Use them at your own discretion.

For the server side of things, the Bukkit dev website hosts an exceptionally large number of mods. These are conveniently arranged into categories, which simplifies the task of tracking an individual item down.

So many options! I’ve already linked to the World War 2 Gun Mod, and that particular forum post offers up a lot more in the same vein.

On the PCWorld Minecraft server, Dynmap is invaluable. Once it’s installed, you can point a browser to a URL, and get a map of the server, complete with real-time updates and chatting functionality. Dynmap makes it easy to figure out where everyone is and to coordinate efforts: I like to keep it open on my iPad for a bird’s-eye view of what’s going on while I’m deep in subterranean crypts.

Found a mod that you can’t live without? Let us know! And if you haven’t already, be sure to check out our guide to getting started in Minecraft, and our guide to setting up your own server.

LiteLoader is designed to work alongside Minecraft Forge and Forge Mod Loader (FML). While they do basically almost the same thing, there are a lot of mods that work only if LiteLoader is installed, and vice versa.

    What the Mod Offers

The LiteLoader is basically a mod that allows other mods to work and work together. It is very easy to use and is a requirement to many mods that are not based on Minecraft Forge.

Introduction: How to Install Minecraft Mods.

Hi there. This is my first Instructable and I believe that this instructable is very long overdue. I hope you can understand me and I hope that you can install some mods for your game. In this Instructable I will be referring to a windows model computer because that is what I run the game on.

Step 1: Do You Have Minecraft?

You have to have Minecraft computer edition to do this so if you don’t, why are you even reading this? If you do have Minecraft computer edition then continue onto step number two.

    Step 2: Forge Mod Loader

When you are first installing mods, I would recommend using Forge as the loader. Forge is a user friendly piece of software that will help you use your new mods. Make sure you pick the download that fits the version of minecraft that you wish to modify, depending on what the mods you pick and the forge you pick decides what version you have to use. Download the version you want and continue to the next step.

    Step 3: Running Forge

When you finish downloading Forge, go to your downloads folder, or wherever you saved it, and run Forge. When you run it, there will be a display that asks you how you want to download Forge. Pick client side and select finish or install.

If you want to install server side mods, I might make another Instructable that addresses that.

    Step 4: Running Minecraft

After you first install forge, you need to run minecraft with it. When you get on the minecraft launcher, you need to create a new profile. Once you do that go to edit profile and head down to it says Use Version and scroll down to the bottom of the drop down menu. Look for something like ‘Release (Version Number)-Forge’. Click on that then run minecraft with that version selected. The very first time you load minecraft with Forge, it should say 4 mods loaded in the bottom left hand corner. Now close out minecraft.

Step 5: Get You Mods Ready.

Go onto the interwebs and find the mods you want for minecraft. Make sure that you have found mods that are the same version as the version of Minecraft you want to run with.

Step 6: Finding the Mods Folder.

Search on your computer for a folder called ‘%AppData%’. Once you get to Appdata, find a folder called ‘.minecraft’. Inside that folder there should be a folder labeled ‘mods’.

*** For windows 8 users, search up run and the put %AppData% in the run box instead.

Step 7: Putting in the Mods.

Once you have found the mods folder, put all of your version compliant mods in the folder. Then close out the file explorer and launch forge again with your new profile. Once minecraft has loaded, it should say ‘(However many mods you added) Mods loaded’. If it does, you have done it, start a new world and get crafting.

    Step 8: Thanks!

Thank you for lending me some time to teach you something about minecraft. If you have any questions you can email me and I would be delighted to answer your questions.

Step 9: FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: Why does the FAQ look the way it does?

A: The FAQ is empty because nobody has emailed me with their questions yet Johnny.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Installation of mods is not as difficult process as it seems to many, just enough to read and execute a few items in this manual. And finally, you can indulge in an interesting fashion, which can add to Minecraft absolutely anything from small items to whole worlds.

Instruction are provided for Minecraft versions above 1.6. Do not recommend at all to use the version less.

    1) Download our TLauncher, because with it, this statement omitted many of the unnecessary actions from your side.

    2) Find in the Internet the mod you need and look at what version of the game he developed. We have the example will be EnderBags for version 1.10.2. Download the mod file and save while at any location on the computer.

    3) Open the launcher and find it in the list of Forge versions (it is responsible for most mods) version is the same as the mod, in our case 1.10.2. Click on the “Install” button, wait for the install and first run.

    4) Now you need to open the folder with the player, you can go to this path: c:\Users\ИМЯ USER\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\ (If you have not changed the default path), or may in the launcher click “Open folder”, thereby immediately find yourself in the right directory.

    5) In it we find the folder “mods” (which is created automatically after you install any version of Forge) and go into it. Take the downloaded mod (which has the extension .jar or .zip and copy into the open mods folder.

    6) Run the launcher and enter the version of Minecraft Forge menu, click on the button “Mods”, there we find a set of modes. This means that now the mod should work. Play and enjoy! Really our way to install mods in Minecraft easiest? We thought: Yes!

    10. Scroll down a bit until you see Recent Files on the right side of the page.
    11. Look for the correct version and make sure that you install the file that has the letter R next to it, as R means that this is the recommended file for you to download.
    12. Click on the download icon next to the file to install it. After that, you can go ahead and download whichever Fabric mods you want.

    Setting up Fabric

    1. Head over to your desktop and go over to the search bar at the bottom left of the screen.
    2. Type in “%appdata%” and hit enter.
    3. Click on .minecraft and look for the mods folder. If you cannot find a mods folder, you can simply just create a new folder and name it “mods” in all lowercase letters.
    4. Open up the mods folder and then add Fabric API along with the Fabric mods that you wish to use.

I highly recommend this. all you do is drag the mod file from your comp into the program, hit Finish Modding, and you’re done! Just know that its not 100% when it comes to mods that you need to run other mods; just do your research about what mods you need and you’ll be fine 😛

Just stick to the TFM mod patcher like the above ones said if you are not into this things or just want to make it easy

but remember only some mods have the patch for the mod manager and if you want install there is a limit of item sprites meaning you can’t have all mods plus the Interfering and conflicting (i.e desert eagle Block id # 110 and Horse saddle Block id #110) of block ids and Item ids. The version of modloader also counts in installing v4 and v5 are compatible with 1.3_01 beta.

For the ones questioning where to find the jar of minecraft. Go to run, Type in %appdata%, open .minecraft, in the bin, right click and open the archive using rar or 7.zip of the executable jar file “minecraft”

To create mods with Minecraft you’ll need a few things:

    • Basic Java Programming Knowledge
    • The most recent version of the JDK
    • The Eclipse IDE for Java Developers (Optional but Recommended, even Notch uses this to write Java programs)
    • Rigusami’s ModLoader
    • MCP (Minecraft Coder Pack)
    • Paint.NET (Optional but Recommended, even notch uses this to create Images for games)
    • Techne (Optional but Recommended, this creates models and converts them to Java code that you can use to create your own Mobs)

    Setting up the MCP:

NOTE: Yes, I require you to have quite a bit of technical knowledge when it comes to Java and other things such as that. As well as folder locations, unzipping, how jars/modding works in Minecraft, etc. If you don’t know these technical/Minecraft terms then I recommend you come back here when you have some more experience in these matters. If you need Java knowledge including how to setup the JDK/Eclipse go to the youtube channel TheNewBoston (https://www.youtube.com/thenewboston) and find the Beginner Java Tutorials. Watch all of them, and watch the Intermediate Tutorials if you’re planning on learning Server stuff as they might help.

Before you create Minecraft Mods you need to setup the Minecraft Coder Pack. To start off, make sure you are using the original version of Minecraft in your %appdata%/.minecraft/ folder. If you used MCPatcher or any mods on this copy of Minecraft, simply rename your bin folder, and then re-run Minecraft. (Using a 16×16 texture pack that does not require patching will not require you to do this)

Now create a new folder somewhere that can be easily accessed, like on your Desktop or My Documents folder. Name this folder something like ‘MCP’. Now go to the MCP Downloads Page. (https://mcp.ocean-labs.de/index.php/MCP_Releases) Find the most recent (stable) version of MCP. (For 1.2.5 the most recent version is 6.2, I do not believe there is a version for the recent weekly snapshot) Download using mediafire or the mirror (doesn’t matter, if one doesn’t work try the other) and then move all the contents of the .zip you just downloaded into your MCP folder.

Now go to www.minecraft.net and download the minecraft_server.jar. Put this in your MCP/jars folder. Next copy the ‘bin’ and ‘resources’ folder out of your %appdata%/.minecraft, and paste them into your MCP/jars folder. Next go to the Rigusami’s Mods page (https://www.minecraftforum.net/tp[oc75440-v125-rigusamis-mods-everything-updated/) and download the most recent version of ModLoader. This is extremely important, as ModLoader allows your mods to be compatible with other peoples Mods. (None of your Mods will need to change the Base Minecraft classes, because if everybody did change them then they would just overlap and you would only get the last mod you installed) Put the content of your ModLoader zip file into your MCP/jars/bin/minecraft.jar file. (You need to open the .jar with your zipping program like winzip, winrar, or 7zip)

We’re almost done! Now simply finish everything up by running MCP/decompile.bat. This will decompile everything you need. (when decompiling the client, you may get an error that says “A single hunk failed when decompileing with ModLoader, this is expected and is not a problem.” or something along those lines. As stated in the error message, this isn’t a problem you can make mods fine if this happens.

Now (if you have Eclipse, if not you need to use the MCP/src folder to change everything using your Java editor, and then run Recompile.bat to recompile everything, and run Reobfuscate.bat, and then Startclient.bat just to test your mod!) open up Eclipse, and go to File->Switch Workspace->Other. Choose the folder ‘eclipse’, which is located inside the MCP folder. Eclipse will re-launch itself, with the project settings now set to Minecraft stuff!

Congrats! You’re now ready to create Minecraft Mods! Quick summary of what you just did:

    • You installed MCP, which decompiles Minecraft into a readable format.
    • You put in MCP with your Minecraft 1.2.5.
    • You added ModLoader to your Minecraft 1.2.5 so that other Mods will be compatible with yours.
    • You switched your Eclipse workspace to MCP.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and I also hope you check back often for my upcoming tutorials on how to do various things like creating mobs, biomes, blocks, flowers, tools, armor, and more!

How to install modloader for minecraft

Short Explanation: Forge & ModLaoder are two different mods made by different people, but practically do the same thing. Some mods you download require Forge and some mods require ModLoader. Though you can only use one of them at a time either ModLoader or Forge. They are needed to run other mods, but especially Forge, which is what I would install. Watch the video below on how to download and install Minecraft Forge since it has a different installation process than most mods.

Good Explanation: Forge & ModLoader are the 2 most important mods in Minecraft. Most mods out there require either Forge or ModLoader, it will usually tell you at the page of download which it requires either Forge or ModLoader. The downside is that only one of them can be running at once so either the ModLoader or Forge meaning you can only have the mods running that use Forge at once or the one’s that use ModLoader. So if you are planning on downloading mods it is highly advised to download Forge and ModLoader since otherwise your mods will not work. Mostly all mods require Forge, but some require ModLoader, so I would just download Forge since the installation process of downloading Forge and ModLoader is very complicated and can take between 15 – 25 minutes if done correctly otherwise more!

I am sure that this will work for most people, I am especially sure that it will work on Windows since that is the device I used when I play with mods, but it probably works for Apple computers and laptops as well. Make sure that you focus while watching as it can get very confusing at parts.

If you have downloaded Forge then you are ready to start downloading Mods. If you have yet not downloaded Forge make sure to watch the video above on how to download it properly. If you have downloaded Forge and unsure how to download mods watch video below.

Minecraft is famous for how many mods it has, and how easy they are to install. These mods can be practical — like creating a new item — or they can add fun thematic elements to your game, such as new game modes.

To install these mods, you’ll need to use a free add-on called Minecraft Forge. This will let you customize Minecraft: Java Edition with mods.

Quick tip: Minecraft Forge can’t be used to add mods to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. You’ll need to be playing the “Java” version.

Here’s how to install Minecraft Forge, and use it to install mods.

    How to download Minecraft Forge

Quick tip: Minecraft Forge requires Java, so install that before beginning the download.

    2. You’ll see two download links: Latest and Recommended. Pick Recommended, as it has less bugs. Use the chart under Minecraft Version on the left to ensure you’re downloading the version of Forge that corresponds with your current version of Minecraft and the mods you’re running.

    3. Once you click the installer link, you’ll be shown an ad. Wait a few seconds, and then click Skip in the top-right corner. Once you click it, the download will start.

    4. Open the Forge installer, and give the app the necessary privacy and access permissions when requested. If you’re on a Mac, you might need to go into your computer’s Security & Privacy settings to give it permission to open.

    5. In the window that appears, select Install Client and click OK.

    6. Forge will connect to the internet and download all of its data. Once it’s done, a pop-up message will indicate Minecraft Forge has been successfully installed. Click OK to continue.

    7. Open the Minecraft Launcher.

    8. Open the drop-down menu next to Play, which lets you pick what version of Minecraft you want to open.

    9. In the options that appear, click and select Forge.

    10. Now press Play.

Quick tip: A pop-up message may appear asking the user to accept that the version has been modified and may not support the latest player safety features. This is standard and you should approve it.

    11. After the game has loaded, check that the Mods option has appeared. This signals that you’ve installed Minecraft Forge successfully.

How to add a mod to Minecraft

Forge won’t come with mods built into it, so you’ll need to find them yourself. You can find all sorts of Minecraft mods through Google, and websites like minecraftmods.com.

Once you’ve found one that’s appealing, save the file to your newly-created Forge mods folder.

    • The address on your PC will be: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods
    • On a Mac, it’ll be: [your computer’s name] > Macintosh HD > Users > [your username] > Library > Application Support > minecraft > mods

In place of [your username], insert the name of the account you’re using on your computer.

Once you’ve done that, you can check that the mod is enabled by clicking the “Mods” tab on the Minecraft main menu (see above), then confirming that the mod is listed in the left column beneath the Minecraft version you’re running.

For more details on installing mods, as well as a guide on how to install resource/texture packs (a different type of mod), check out our article, “How to install Minecraft mods and resource packs to completely reinvent your game.”

Quick tip: Like with any installation, you may need to restart your PC before seeing the mod’s changes take effect.

Minecraft can credit its worldwide popularity to many factors including advertising, Microsoft’s purchase and, mostly through the years, content creation, the latter pushing the limits of the game beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

The sandbox has had a variety of content creators through the years in its almost decade-long run which really switched up the genre with mod reviews, modded maps or even full series.

As one of the most mod-friendly games because of its nature and PC inception, Minecraft console players have been craving this addition for the longest — and, thankfully, it’s never been easier than in 2021.

From a step-to-step list to where to get the latest trending uploads, here’s how to mod your Minecraft Xbox One edition in 2021.

How to mod Minecraft Xbox One 2021

To mod your Minecraft Xbox One edition, you will need an Xbox One, a copy of the Minecraft Xbox One edition (duh) and to follow the next simple steps:

    1. Press Y on the Home screen to pull up Search bar
    2. Find and download ‘MC Addons’
    3. Head to Microsoft Edge (already pre-installed in your Xbox)
    4. Go to mcdlhub.com
    5. Head to the Mods tab
    6. Find the mod that you like that is compatible with Xbox one,
    7. Download it by clicking on Save As
    8. Head back to MC Addons
    9. Click on Import
    10. Find your newly downloaded mod

And you’re done! Make sure to restart Minecraft to see the mods in full effect. If you are running into issues with the game, read the original post for the mod to see if it requires Experimental Gameplay turned on for it to run.

If you saw the following message and reached this article, we’re here to help!

This error happened since you added an incompatible mod to your projects’ modloader, (whether manually or through the app) or updated an existing one to a later version that is incompatible.

To fix this, you will need to either update again by clicking the downward arrow icon, or download a previous, compatible version.

What are the differences between the Modloaders?

When browsing for Modpacks, editing projects or adding more contents, you might have seen a distinction between Forge and Fabric.
In short, these are two different modloaders that help enable Minecraft modding as you know it in the CurseForge app.

You can read more about Forge and Fabric documentation and the idea behind them.

When authors submit their mods, they mark which modloader the mod is compatible for, and they might add files to support both modloaders.

When you edit a project or create a profile- you should keep in mind the modloader type, so that you only add mods compatible with that modloader!

Note that not all mods are available for both modloaders, this may affect which project type you prefer to create.

The program is excellent, and my son is as happy as a pig in muck with the Weather and Tornado mod your program helped to install (and which I spent many frustrating hours failing to install!) I’m sure that he will want more mods in the future and your program is the way to go!

I am also a software engineer and I really appreciate everything you have done here. You’ve achieved a level of polish not always seen in the Minecraft community.

My eight-year-old son now has the independence to install mods on his own, which is amazing to see.

Minecraft Sodium 1.18.1 is one of the best performance-enhancing mods ever created in the history of Minecraft.

How to install modloader for minecraft

Sodium for Minecraft 1.18 → 1.18.1 is one of the best pieces of news we can give to users with low-end equipment. Sodium improves the performance of Minecraft, reaching completely absurd limits. It achieves much higher FPS figures by replacing the graphics engine that comes with Minecraft by default. Sodium is the Mod that has improved the gaming experience for everyone, especially for players with less powerful equipment.

Minecraft Mods are a complement or modification added to Minecraft to improve its playability. They come in all types: Mods that allow you to modify the behavior of the blocks in the game, that incorporate new objects, new meals, new mobs, dimensions, etc.

One of the most popular categories of mods in Minecraft is a graphical enhancement known as Minecraft Shaders. Most shaders in Minecraft are intended to provide a more realistic and dynamic look to elements such as water, lighting, and shadows. To install most mods, you may use a Modloader called Forge. But for shaders and texture packs, you want to use Optifine. On its own, as previously mentioned, Optifine presents some valuable fixes for Minecraft, including increasing your frame rate, but it’s also essential for enabling shaders to work.

Thanks to the large community of programmers who develop them and programs that simplify their creation for users without less computer knowledge, we can find new Mods on the Internet every day. One of the most renowned is Optifine.

    Sodium Mod vs OptiFine

How to install modloader for minecraft

Optifine mainly improves the graphics loading speed of the Minecraft to make them load faster and increase the viewing distance or enhance the quality on powerful computers. It also adds video options such as dynamic lighting.

Sodium is what we can call Optifine’s brother, but created for Fabric Modloader. Fabric is a Modloader that works like Forge, adds mod compatibility to Minecraft, lighter and cleaner. The fabric has its advantages and a multitude of mods already created for the latest version of Minecraft. Fabric and Forge are not compatible with each other, so you must use one at a time, according to the Mod you will play.

Sodium 1.18, instead, is not compatible with Forge. So, if you choose, it’s better to decide according to the base mods you currently use, be it Sodium for Fabric or Optifine for Forge. Although they are similar tools, Sodium has features that stand out. They are as follows.

    Sodium Features

Sodium is a free and open-source optimization mod. This game utility greatly enhances the frames rates of the game. It also reduces micro-stuttering and fixes graphical issues in the game so that you can play with much better visuals. It doesn’t compromise on how the game looks, providing an authentic block game feel.

It leverages OpenGL rendering, which allows for a significant reduction in CPU overhead when rendering the world. Even if the GPU cannot keep up, frame rates will be much more stable because the CPU will be working on other rendering tasks. This is what makes Sodium a good choice for gamers who have a poorly equipped computer for gaming.

    Other exciting features are:

    • It adds improvements to how the game manages memory, which results in a reduction of memory consumption and lag spikes.
    • It optimizes chunk loading, making it faster and less harmful to frame rates, improving performance.
    • It doesn’t update those animated textures which are not visible in the world to speed up the texture updating.

Many players claim to get better frame rates with Sodium 1.18, claiming that other mods hold unnecessary features. Sodium lowers CPU workload, increases frame rates, and fixes visual glitches to provide a better graphic and gaming experience. It achieves with minimal work the best results, allowing even gamers with low-end computers to enjoy Minecraft to the fullest.

How to Install Sodium Mod with Fabric?

To install Sodium 1.18, it is required to install the latest version of Fabric Loader. You don’t even need Fabric API to use this Mod. You should be a bit cautious because the main disadvantage of Sodium is that it doesn’t yet contain support for the Fabric Rendering API. This may prevent the use of certain mods that do support the API, causing Minecraft to crash unexpectedly.

    Manual installation (recommended)

You will need Fabric Loader 0.10.x or newer installed in your game in order to load Sodium.

    Installing Fabric

    1. Get Fabric’s Installer on on the page for download.
    2. Launch the installer. Within the installation window, you’ll have to set up the loader and mapping version (as as per section MultiMC article) and also the installation place (the default setting should work for most platforms).
Note You must enable snapshots to allow the installer to display the mapping options available to Minecraft snapshots.
    3. Press Install. A new version of the game as well as a profile is added in the launcher’s menu which you can utilize to start Fabric.

    Installing Sodium:

    1. Open windows Run using Win+R.
    2. Type %appdata%\.minecraft\mods and click Run.
    3. Move to sodium to Mods folder.

    Running Minecraft using Sodium:

    1. Open your Minecraft launcher.
    2. Select Fabric from the drop-down menu.
    3. Press Play
