PHP is a server-side programming language that is used in conjunction with HTML to enhance the features of a website. It can be used to add a log-in screen or a survey, redirect visitors, create a calendar, send and receive cookies, and more. If your website is already published on the web, you’ll need to alter it a bit to use the PHP code with the page.

When a webpage is accessed, the server checks the extension to know how to handle the page. Generally speaking, if it sees a .htm or .html file, it sends it right to the browser because it doesn't have anything to process on the server. If it sees a .php extension, it knows that it needs to execute the appropriate code before passing it along to the browser.

Process

You find the perfect script, and you want to run it on your website, but you need to include PHP on your page for it to work. You could just rename your pages to yourpage.php instead of yourpage.html, but you may already have incoming links or search engine ranking, so you don’t want to change the file name. What can you do?

If you are creating a new file anyway, you may as well use .php, but the way to execute PHP on a .html page is to modify the .htaccess file. This file may be hidden, so depending upon your FTP program, you may have to modify some settings to see it. Then you just need to add this line for .html:

If you only plan on including the PHP on one page, it is better to set it up this way:

I want to open an exe file through a link in an HTML file.

Is it possible? If so, how?

On a local computer you can do it with ease, So you have just to Create your own custom protocol, like the one used by Skype or iTunes to launch their native windows applications : – Custom protocol has to be created on Windows Registry by adding a entry as the one here :

the word in Blod ACCapp is the name of the custom protocol that would be used on your html href link as follow

How to run a html file

You can not start/execute an .exe file that resides locally on the users machine or through a site. The user must first download the exe file and then run the executable.

You can do this

it’s the only way I see:

Due security reasons it’s not possible, and probably it’s better it stays that way.

The following code works, but only on the machine which the program exists on:

How to run a html file

You could write an Active-X object that runs in internet explorer only.

It’s not an exe but it’s the closest you’ll get to running an exe.

I created an application for this exact purpose. It is called WebRun and you can download it from www.webrunapps.com. After installation you can create a webrun link to launch any executable / file / command on your Windows PC. Here is an example to run notepad:

Hope that helps.

I know a good answer to this one, Roblox and Atom uses this technique to run exe programs with a link. I have never done this so I can’t really explain how to do it but I know how. They use URI protocols. URI protocols are like http, ftp, and https. I don’t know Roblox’s uri protocol, but I know Atoms, atom’s is atom://. I recently just learned of this type of technology so I don’t know much about it.

Except, the user must first download the exe files first, than once download, if the uri protocol is set on it, you can open it through a link.

Serve Static HTML Pages with nginx

We created a snake browser game and wanted to make it available for everyone to play. The game is a single HTML file referencing a handful of JavaScript files.

To serve static files with nginx, you should configure the path of your application’s root directory and reference the HTML entry point as the index file.

In this example, the root directory for the snake deployment is /home/futurestudio/apps/snake which contains all the files. The root directory also contains the index file, called game.html .

Nginx serves the index file when visiting the configured domain. In this case, nginx serves the game.html when visiting snake.futurestud.io :

The location property ensures to serve requested files if available. For unavailable files, nginx responds with the 404 HTTP status code.

Let’s shine some more light on this configuration: the game.html has references to individual JavaScript files implementing the actual game logic. When serving the game.html , the browser sends the requests to fetch these JavaScript files. Nginx will then serve the requested files from the same root directory.

That’s it! Ensure the root and index properties and nginx serves static HTML and JavaScript files.

In last tutorial we have seen, how we can return a HTML code through a string from views.py. It is not a good idea to pass whole HTML code through a string because if we have to design a complete webpage in HTML then we shouldn’t pass the whole code through the HttpResponse function because it will reduce the readibility of our code. So instead of passing the whole code through the HttpResponse function, we’ll create a separate HTML file.

In this tutorial we’ll see how we can add a seperate Template (HTML) in django project.

A Template is not only a way for you to separate the HTML from these Python (views.py) but it also gives you the option to plugin some Django code inside those templates so those are not just some simple HTML files, that’s why they have the name Templates. We’ll learn a alot of about Templates in upcoming Django articles.

Create Separate HTML File for Front End (Template)

In our project we need to create a folder that will hold our templates. So go to the top most level of our project where our manage.py file exists, create a folder named as templates. It will be like this:

How to run a html file

Now inside that templates folder let’s add our first HTML file. Let’s say we are going to make this file as homepage then just call it as home.html

How to run a html file

How to run a html file

So now our task is that when someone is requesting the homepage then how we can send them to home.html.

In order to do this follow the steps given below.

Step 1: First we’ve to modify settings.py to tell our server that we’ve added a new template. So open settings.py and go to a variable named as TEMPLATES. Inside we have DIRS. Now you can see square brackets infront of DIRS.

How to run a html file

This little brackets is going to be a list of places where it should be looking for the templates. So let’s add the templates directory inside that brackets.

How to run a html file

Step 2: As we know when someone is going to request your website, it will check into URLPATTERNS in urls.py file to check is there any path exists for requested URL or not? So we have to make a path for homepage.

How to run a html file

In above screenshot we’ve a set a path for homepage. If anyone requests our website then it will send that request to views.home function.

Step 3: As above step will send the request to views.home function so we should have a home function inside our views.py. We’ve already created it in our previous tutorial. If you doesn’t have views.py then please create it and add a home function into it like this:

How to run a html file

Now we have home function which is returning something.

To open that HTML file, we have to use render function and render function takes two parameters, first one is request object and second is the name of the HTML file to open. To use render function we have to import something that’s why we used:

from django.shortcuts import render

Now we’re all set to go and run our project. To do that we have to run the server first. So open terminal or command prompt and go to the root of your project directory and run this command.

python3 manage.py runserver

(for who have both python 2 and python 3 installed in their system like Ubuntu 18.04)

python manage.py runserver

How to run a html file

Now open our website using following link in the above image.

How to run a html file

Finally we have our HTML Template opened in browser.

As I mentioned earlier that this HTML file is not any regular HTML file, we can actually run some Python code inside this HTML.

For example: Let’s say I want to send some special information from our views.py to home.html then we can pass a dictionary through the render function as show in image below.

How to run a html file

So we’re passing a dictionary here which have a key = name and a value associated with that key is the crazy programmer.

Now see how we can show this information in our HTML Template.

Open your home.html templateand edit it as shown in screenshot below:

How to run a html file

So here we are going to show our value assigned to that key name. If we pass any key inside two curly braces then it will give us the value of that key. So let’s run it in browser.

How to run a html file

Thats how we can pass some information from python function to the HTML template in django.

  1. How to create a custom HTML template page in django?
  2. How to pass information from Python function views to HTML template in django?

Have been solved.

We got this video for you so that you don’t need to spend your time in the search.

To create or design a website, we need to learn HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language). This video shows how to write, execute and execute our first HTML code. We follow a few steps.

Step 1: open the notebook
To open the notebook, simply use the shortcut key (WIN + R) on the keyboard. A small window Run asks you where to enter the notebook in the text field and press OK.

Step 2: Write the HTML program
An empty notebook opens there we have to write all our html code. In the video, I wrote a small html code, write the same thing in your notebook.

Step 3: Save the HTML page
After writing the html program, it’s time to save the notepad file. To save, use the shortcut key (CTRL + S) or go to the top left of your notebook and in the menu on the File tab goto SaveAs .. you enter your own file name tracking from the .html extension to the end. Now choose a location where you want to save your html file and click the Save button.

Step 4: Run and Execute the HTML Code
You have successfully opened the notebook, written the html code and registered it. Now, your next and last step is to run the code. To do this, right-click on the HTML file of the saved notebook and open it with your own web browser.

it’s all .. you can see your output.

Note: Unlike Windows 8 users, anyone can view a browser displayed exactly on the side of your saved html notebook file. Double-click on the browser and the output of your program will be displayed. In either case, you can right-click on your saved notebook file and open with any browser and view the output.
