2. Choose a layout

Choosing a layout is probably on of the easiest ways to organize your Instagram. There are 9 different types of Instagram layouts:

  • Squares
  • Tiles
  • Line in the middle
  • Row by row
  • Rainbow feed
  • Puzzle feed
  • White border feed
  • Mix

Choose one layout and stick to it.

3. Rearrange your photos

Another way to organize your Instagram feed is by rearranging the order of your posts. You can do that in Preview.

Tricks you can use to organize your feed:

  1. Avoid putting the exact same photo next to each other (same outfit, same color, same background color)
  2. Post in patterns (example: one photo, one quote, one photo, one quote… easy if you use a grid layout)
  3. Space out your photos based on the colors in the photo (avoid putting the exact same colors next to each other)
  4. Try to balance the look of your overall feed

Another good way to organize your Instagram is by sticking to certain colors in your photos. These colors are going to be your color palette. If you feel like your feed looks messy, this trick will save your Insta-life.

Choose 1 – 5 colors that always appear in your feed.

If you want to write a captivating post, you should address the questions, which your followers have. Your task is to research the topic thoroughly and provide your audience with comprehensive answers.

Keep in mind that you should avoid mentioning general facts because it may diminish the value of your post. Instead of it, it’s better to add statistics and real-life examples.

When writing a post, show your readers that they are not alone with their problem. Try your best to explain that the issues they face are common, and they just need to walk the extra mile to find the right solution. At the end of the post, you may add actionable advice or offer your product.

Ask fun questions

Social media users are ready to communicate and interact with companies like yours. For this reason, you don’t need to try too hard to boost engagement. All you need to do is to ask the right questions and start simple games, quizzes, or surveys.

Using Instagram’s new captions sticker is quite similar to using any other Instagram Stories sticker. Here’s how to do it:

Step #1: Head to the Instagram Stories or Reels camera and either record or upload a video from your camera roll.

Step #2: Once uploaded or recorded, tap the sticker icon.

Step #4: At this stage, you can choose from four different text formats, move the text around the screen, and change the color.

And that’s it! Your captions should now be generated on your Instagram story.

Be sure to watch and read the captions before posting as Instagram may not accurately transcribe your audio. Currently, users are unable to edit the captions after the fact.

Instagram’s latest text update is making it so easy to animate your Story posts. On Monday, Feb. 8, the tech giant decided to give users a more lively alternative to static texts and fonts by rolling out an animated text option — and TBH, the eye-catching addition is long-overdue. If you’re ready to try it out, here’s how to get animated text in Instagram Story to spice up your photos and videos.

Considering Instagram has already rolled out animated GIFs and stickers on Story as a way to engage followers, the highly-anticipated Feb. 8 announcement that users can now make their text move as well was a welcome one. While the feature — which was first sighted in July 2020 by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi — was previously only available through third-party apps, you can now use animated versions of the static texts and fonts you’ve grown accustomed to. Every static text option comes with a different corresponding animated look, giving you so many options to spice up your Instagram Story photos and videos.

To try it out for yourself, you’ll want to first make sure your Instagram app is updated to the latest version (version 174.0). Then, open the app and head to your Story camera. Every iOS and Android Instagram user should currently have access to the feature, so if you don’t see it, try restarting your app and double-checking if you have an update waiting.

To find the animated text, you’ll want to snap a picture or video like usual in Stories. Then, tap the text button (Aa) at the top right corner of the screen like you’d normally do to add static text. You’ll now see four icons at the top of the screen instead of just three, and the animate button is located at the far right. (It looks like an italicized "A" with two horizontal lines on its left side.)

After you’ve found the animate text button, choose a style from the nine font styles at the bottom of the screen, write out whatever you want to say, then tap that animate button. Your text will then become animated and, depending on the font style you choose, you can expect to see it flashing on your screen or appearing letter by letter with a variety of different aesthetics. If you’re not a fan of one look, go back and adjust the font to find one you like — each font has a different movement.

TBH, it’s surprising that it took this long for Instagram to roll out a feature that allows you to animate different texts and fonts, but now that it’s here, have fun trying out the different looks and adding a new engaging element to your Story posts.

The automatic captions feature is available when you record a video for your Instagram Story. The captions are actually one of the many “stickers” you can add to a Story. Instagram automatically transcribes what you say, but it can be edited as well.

First, open the Instagram app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet. From the Home tab, tap “Your Story” in the top row or swipe in from the left side of the screen to open the Story creation page.

Next, making sure you’re on the “Story” tab, hold your finger on the shutter button to record the video. Of course, you’ll need to speak if there’s going to be something to caption.

There’s still a way to make your text move in Instagram stories without using third-party apps. It’s worth mentioning because sometimes it does look cool.

However, you don’t have many options here, at least not as many as the apps mentioned above offer. The text will only move along with the part of the video it’s pinned to, and only if it’s in the form of a tag, mention, or GIF. How?

Instagram’s newest Stories feature doesn’t feel much like Instagram. The platform’s new “type mode,” which starts rolling out today, lets users add pages to their stories that just involve text. No photos or videos are needed. Users can choose from colorful, customizable backgrounds and different text styles, including a neon font and one that’s reminiscent of a typewriter. Stickers can be added, too. You’ve probably already seen a similar-looking page when you respond to a friend’s direct messages.

I don’t fully understand why Instagram wants to give people a place to share their written thoughts. I like Instagram mostly because I don’t have to read anything. I just absorb copious amounts of photos and videos. I go on Twitter or Facebook if I want to read a rant. But Facebook has slowly brought features to Instagram that originated with the flagship platform. In fact, this style of “bold white text on a brightly colored background” started in the main Facebook feed, and a type mode already exists in Messenger and Facebook Stories.

There are other examples: Instagram DMs now say how long ago someone was active, like Facebook Messenger. Those DMs also have read receipts that are on by default and cannot be turned off, just like Facebook Messenger. It’s a terrible situation when you’re trying to avoid people.

Users can also now create “archives” of photos and videos they previous posted to their main Instagram grid, which effectively hides those posts from their followers without fully deleting them. This is similar to how Facebook users can toggle privacy settings on individual photos.

Really, I just hope this new type mode doesn’t catch on because I’m really trying to limit how many random thoughts I have to read on a daily basis. Also, I like Instagram. Please don’t ruin it with words, Facebook.
