A NEW study from Edge Hill and Soochow Universities appears to reveal that ‘hanging around with your least attractive friends is the most effective way to look good in photos’.

This new study by Dr Edwin Burns and Dr Haojiang Ying, recently published on Science Direct, shows that if you and your friends are already ‘very attractive’ then appearing in group photos will actually make you look worse than usual.

Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the study is rather questionable to say the least and perhaps should be taken with a huge dollop of salt.

However, if you and your friends are average or below-average attractiveness then a group photo is the best way to go and will make you look better than ever. The message is that if you want to look good in photos and on social media you need to hang around with your worst looking friends.

This phenomenon, known as the ‘cheerleader effect’, has been widely researched over the last several years but this is the first time that group photos have been shown to have negative effects when very attractive people are put into the pictures.

Dr Burns said: “We demonstrate that while in the majority of cases we are more attractive in groups this effect works in reverse for people with highly attractive friends, as being around really attractive people has a detrimental impact upon our appearance, especially if we are attractive ourselves.

“The key to looking your absolute best in photos is choosing your friends wisely and only having photos with the least attractive members of your friendship group. This may sound harsh, but this is how our minds work whether we like it or not.

“My expert advice is when you’re out with friends this summer it might be a good idea to stand next to your least attractive friends in group photos, and next time you want to update your tinder profile, get your worst looking mates together for a few photos to make sure you look your absolute best.”

The research was carried out by asking people to rate faces in a wide variety of group photos featuring different people and locations. The results showed clearly that group photos are generally beneficial unless you and your friends are at the upper end of attractiveness.

“The results of the study were really clear”. Edwin explained. “In all the group photos of people with unattractive friends our participants rated the faces more highly. But when we started using photos with only attractive friends the ratings dropped by around 10%.”

This effect can be proven to work with even simple images. If the outer, ‘attractive’ faces in the image below are covered the blemishes on the middle face will start to disappear after a few seconds.

Similar studies have been carried out worldwide, in eight different countries, with the same results seen all of them.

Haojiang Ying from Soochow University in China said: “It’s amazing that this result is so universal and shows how ingrained this effect is. It doesn’t seem to matter where in the world you are from or what your background is, group photos will always make you look better unless your friends are all very attractive people.”

In Windows 10 and Windows 11, the Microsoft Photos app uses face detection and facial grouping technologies to help you quickly and easily identify and organize photos of friends and family. Face detection distinguishes faces from other objects in an image. For example, face detection helps the Photos app know when there is a face in a photo or video so that the app can further analyze the photo. Facial grouping identifies and groups similar faces across multiple photos or videos in your personal collection.

Manage facial grouping

When you start the Photos app, you may see a welcome screen that asks if you want to use the facial grouping feature. You can use that welcome screen to choose whether you want facial grouping, or you can use Settings to turn it on or off at any time.

When you start the Photos app, if you have Windows 11 or Windows 10 (2019.19061.17310.0, the July 2019 version, or later), you may be asked if you want to use the facial grouping feature.

Select Start and type photos, then select the Photos app in the list.

Select the People tab.

If you see a welcome screen asking for your permission to turn on the People setting in the Photos app, do one of the following:

Select Yes to leave the People setting turned on and preserve previously determined facial groupings.

Select No thanks to delete any previously determined facial groupings. When asked whether you’re sure you want to turn off this setting, select Yes.

Any time you want to turn facial grouping on or off, you can use Settings.

Select Start and type photos, then select the Photos app in the list.

Select the People tab.

In the upper-right corner of the Photos app, select See more ( ) > Settings.

Turning off the People setting removes any existing facial grouping data generated by the facial grouping process. No photos or videos will be removed from your device if this setting is changed.

Select Start and type photos, then select the Photos app in the list.

Select the People tab.

In the upper-right corner of the Photos app, select See more ( ) > Settings.

Under the Viewing and editing section, toggle the People setting to Off and then confirm that you want to turn off the setting by selecting Accept.

Note: If you decide to turn on this setting again later, your collection will be scanned again, and facial grouping data will be regenerated.

Use facial grouping

When you turn on the facial grouping setting, the People tab populates with facial groupings. As your photos and videos are being added to the Photos collection, your People tab might look something like this:

The groupings can be linked with contacts from the People app in Windows.

Select the Start tagging link if you see it. If you don’t see it, your photos have probably already been grouped and tagged, and you can skip this step.

Select the Add name link under a grouping and select a contact. If no contact exists for that person yet, you can always add one.

After you’ve linked your contacts, you can easily find your friends and family by using the search box.

Select a linked facial group to open a page showing the contact’s profile picture and photos of the contact.

Select the pencil icon next to a contact’s name, then select Remove name to unlink the contact from the facial grouping.

The process of hanging a new painting or a collection of family photos can seem like a puzzle. Although there are pieces to examine, there isn’t just one correct way to put them together. As with every aspect of decorating, it helps to understand the basic principles first, then improvise—the most pleasing arrangement may be the one you least expect. First, set out the pictures you want to hang; prop them against the walls, and consider your options. Look at every reasonable possibility. Have someone hold a piece up to the wall while you stand back and appraise (just cover the hanging hardware with masking tape first to keep it from scratching the wall). If you are grouping several pieces together, arrange and rearrange them on the floor until you find a composition you like.

In most groupings, a common thread will tie the pieces together. Perhaps the pictures are part of a set or collection; if not, maybe the frames share the same style or the mats are all the same color. Sometimes, a grouping may not need a linking element; the only unifying theme may be its diversity. Such collections take a little more nerve and are best suited to a less formal room. As for precise positioning, conventional wisdom suggests that pictures be hung at eye level. This notion is a fine starting point, but hardly definitive. There are many good reasons to hang pieces above or below a standard height. In any setting, you will need to react to the architecture and the furniture; you will also need to follow your instincts. A few inches’ shift in a hanging arrangement can affect the tone of an entire room: Move the pictures over a sofa or chair down a bit; the area will become more cohesive, cozy, and inviting. Add an element of surprise to a room by hanging a little picture above the door. Emphasize a chair rail by running a series of photos right above it. Hang several small pieces just over a desk—they’ll provide a refreshing view when you look up from your work.

Learn to trust yourself. If it feels right, don’t be afraid to do something a little different.

Measuring and Essential Supplies

Don’t leave measurements to guesswork when you are hanging pictures; get out the tape measure and be exact. For most pictures, the only other tools you’ll need are a hammer, a screwdriver, and a carpenter’s level, preferably 24 inches long. When hanging something at an average eye level, position its center 57 to 60 inches from the floor. Use the following formula: Divide the height of the frame by two; from that number, subtract the distance from the top of the frame to the hanging hardware; add this number to 57, 58, 59, or 60. This final sum is the height (measured from the floor) at which the hangers should be put into the wall. If you’re going by instinct as opposed to eye level, you don’t need to be as rigorous in your measuring; if you are hanging a grid or a series of pieces, however, you will need to be precise to achieve even spacing.

When it’s time to hang your art, use the method that provides the most stability. It’s usually best to use two picture hangers, so pictures don’t swing or tilt. Install two D rings on the back of a frame, directly opposite each other. Once you’ve decided where you want to hang a picture, make a mark on the wall in pencil (on pieces of masking tape, if you wish) for each hook; use the level to make sure the marks are at the same height. If a room has a slightly sloping floor or ceiling, start by hanging the pictures level; if they look crooked, cheat just a bit so they look straight, even if they’re not. In a case like this, you may want to string picture wire between the D rings; still, hang it from two hooks, unless the picture is very small. Decorative picture-hanging hardware, such as vintage hooks or French rods, can add another design element to a single picture or grouping.

One more essential consideration is restraint. You’ll want to leave some blank wall space in a room so the eye can rest; what’s not there will allow you to appreciate what is.

How to Arrange an Eclectic Group

Mismatched elements are more of a challenge to hang than a set of identical prints in similar frames, but the results can be compelling and really make a room. Sketches, oil paintings, architectural renderings, a display of cameos, and a decorative wall bracket could be arranged in a free-form, asymmetrical grouping, giving the living room the look of a comfortable parlor. The frames are varied, but all share a somewhat formal feel. If the pieces were hung higher, they would appear to be floating away; the sofa, just a few inches below, anchors them gracefully.

Before putting a hole in the wall, establish the arrangement of pictures and pieces. Lay them out on the floor and up against a wall or piece of furniture; move them until the results suit you. For a grouping like this, the spacing doesn’t need to be even but try to avoid unbroken “rivers” of space running horizontally or vertically between pictures. A carpenter’s level is an indispensable tool. If you are using two D rings to hang a picture from two picture hangers, mark the spots for the hardware on the wall, and use the level to be sure they’re even; adjust as necessary before putting hardware in the wall. If you are using one or two picture hangers and wire strung on the back of the frame, hang the picture, and then use the level to make it straight.

How to Create Symmetry Among Prints

The arrangement of pictures on a wall has as much impact as the pictures themselves. A precise grid gives a graphic, formal look; a group of pictures hung within a set square or rectangle has order to it, but is instantly more casual, ideal for a family room or kitchen. Rows of pictures can be aligned at their centers, tops, or bottoms with very different results. Whether you’re working with a grouping of pictures or just one, artwork should generally be centered horizontally between two points, which makes a room feel balanced.

A strong center line ties together contemporary photographs in frames of different sizes, left. Jagged lines on the top and bottom accentuate the arrangement. Two pieces of string stretched taut between pushpins provide a guide for even spacing. This technique is also useful for hanging pictures along a staircase: Mark a spot on the wall the same distance from the top step and the bottom step, and run the string between these points. Use a D ring on each side of a frame for secure picture hanging. But don’t estimate measurements; always use a tape measure. Here, the space from the top of the frame to the D ring matches the space from the string guide to the picture hanger.

So provided you’re not David Beckham, you’ll look more attractive in your Tinder pics if you flash those pearly whites.

But because women get creeped on so much online, their first priority is safety. Forcing women to see you in a state of undress before you even meet can read as a warning sign.

Indirect sunlight erases lines, wrinkles, and *maybe* even that pesky unibrow. Seriously, no matter how attractive you felt in a pic of you at the bar, I guarantee you look 800% sexier outside.

Outdoor pics have the added benefit of implying you’re sporty and healthy, or — at the very least — that you leave your house sometimes.

Use your Tinder photos to tell a story about you, your interests, places you go to, and whatever makes you a catch (be it bicep, brain, or both).

9. Don’t guess, test

Ultimately, it’s impossibly hard to be objective about our own photos. Your favorite pic can be off-putting to women for reasons you never would think of.

#1: The shooting angle is too low

Generally, the lens should be above your eye level for a more flattering photo. Here’s a pretty dramatic example:

Either hold the camera little higher (if it’s a selfie), ask the photographer to hold the camera a little higher, find a taller friend to shoot the photo, or bend your knees a little to even the odds. Also, tilt your chin down a little (but not too far) — no one wants to see what’s up your nose.

#2: You are too close or far

Faces look different depending on the distance between the lens and the face.

This is why sometimes people think they look great in a mirror but terrible in photos. To find your best range, have a friend use a camera with a zoom to take multiple shots of you looking at the camera with your face filling the frame each time — look through them and see which one you like best. You can usually narrow it down to close, medium, or quite far away. Once you know, ask the photographer to either back off and zoom in or come closer and zoom out so distance between you is within your most flattering range.

#3: Your eyes aren’t smiling

Obviously, you want to smile in photos, but the eyes are just as important as the mouth. To give a confident “eye smile”, try a technique called “squinching.” This involves squinting the lower eyelid while only allowing the top lid to come down slightly.

#4: Your body position is wrong

Having a photo taken of your head and shoulders at a 90-degree position to the camera makes the photo look a bit like a mugshot. Turn one of your shoulders slightly towards the lens to break away from that. Your shoulders should be at about a 30-degree angle to the lens. Doing this is also really flattering if you are a bit wider — it slims you. Also, push your shoulders back and down a little to lengthen your neck and improve the look of your upper torso. We don’t want hunched shoulders, right?

#5: You smiled for too long and it went weird

Smiling for extended periods on command is hard, as I’m sure you know. The longer you smile the more fake it will generally look and sometimes, especially in a group photo, it takes a while for people to faff around and get ready. Ask the person taking the shot to count it down 3, 2, 1 so you can spend only a second or two smiling and posing.

#6: You weren’t paying attention or you weren’t ready

When a photo is being taken, give it your full attention to avoid those awkward mouth-open, crazy-eye shots. Don’t look away from the camera. Don’t take this moment to talk to or respond to someone talking to you. Try not to blink. Just do your thing and pose for these few seconds.

#7: You pulled a face

Don’t get me wrong, if you’re going for a photo where you look like you just don’t really give a rat’s how you look, go for it. But generally, poking your tongue out, pulling a face, pouting etc. looks stupid and can make the difference between a shot you’ll be proud of and something you’ll look at once, chuckle, and never want to see again. Resist the urge, or if you just can’t, ask the photographer to take two shots, one nice one and then one less serious. Compare them later and see which one you and your friends like best.

#8: You only took one photo and didn’t check it

Don’t be afraid to ask for another shot if you feel like you messed it up: you may only be in that situation once and sometimes you blink or generally just mess up. Ask to see the shot after it’s taken and do it over if you like. Get involved and interested in creating a nice image.

#9: You’re generally ‘not into it’

Some people don’t like having their photo taken, sure. But if you realise you are going to have to be in one, accept that. If you can’t avoid it, you might as well try to look your best, right? A lot of the time people hate having their photo taken because they think they always look awful or have low self-esteem. If you put in zero effort, you will probably get a poor result, just like most things in life, right? Reading through and understanding these tips will help to change that and have better photos taken of you.

#10: Bonus tip: You look good in your own way

We are all different and that’s what makes us wonderful so don’t shy away from having your photo taken. Be a part of it and put your best face forward with a bit of positivity and a little knowledge. You are not as ugly as you think.

Introduction

Windows gives you the ability to take a snapshot of what is shown on your computer screen and save it as a file. You can then view this image at a later date to see what your screen looked like or share this image with other people to view. You may be asking why this is important and why you would want to share screen shots of your computer. Two reasons come to mind, though there are many others:

  1. You are having a problem on your computer and you a trying to receive help in our computer help forums and one of our members asks for a screen shot so they can visually see the problem you are having. You can then create one and make it available for others to see.
  2. You did something you find to be really cool or interesting and would like others to be able to see it.

When you take a screen shot, the image must be saved on your computer. We will discuss this as well in this tutorial.

Taking a screen shot of the entire screen

Windows gives you the ability to take a screen shot of the entire screen. To do this you simply have to press the PrtSc or PrintScreen button on your keyboard. When you press this key a copy of your current screen will be placed in the Clipboard of Windows. When you save that screen shot to an image file you will see an image of your entire screen at the time you pressed the key. An example screen is below:

Notice that the image above is a screen shot of the entire screen at the time of the key press. Instructions how to save the image to an image file will be described below.

Taking a screen shot of the selected window

Windows also gives the ability to only take a screen shot of the current active window. Each program that is running on your computer is run inside a window. The active window is the program that you are currently using. To take a screen shot of only the active window you would press the ALT and Prt SC or ALT and PrintScreen at the same time. This will create a screen shot of the current window that you are using. An example can be seen in figure 2 below of the active program I was using at the time I pressed those keys.

It is important to note that any window, whether it is a dialog box, message box, or program window, is considered an active window and will be what is placed in the screen shot. Instructions of how to save this screen shot as an image file on your computer can be found below.

Saving the screen shot

In order to save the screen shot that you have just created you will need some sort of image manipulation software. Popular software is Paint Shop Pro, PhotoShop, and IrfanView. For the purposes of this tutorial we will cover how to save your screen shot with IrfanView because it is a free download and works the same in every Windows version. If you are using Windows XP or higher, then you do not need to download anything, and can instead use the Paint program that comes with windows. The instructions below should work with Paint as well.

IrfanView can be downloaded from the following link:

Download and install IrfanView on to your computer. When it has finished installing, double-click on the icon found in your Start Menu under the IrfanView program group. When you open the program you will see a black window with nothing in it. Now take a screen shot of a window or your screen by pressing the appropriate keys explained above.

Now that a screen shot has been made, we want to paste that screen shot into IrfanView. If it is not opened already, open the program and click on the Edit menu and then select the Paste menu option. Once you click on the Paste button you will see your screen shot that you took previously now inside the IrfanView program. To save this screen shot, you would click on the File menu and then select Save As. When the Save Picture As . dialog box opens type in the name you would like to save the image as in the File Name field. Then change the Save as type: menu to either a GIF or a JPEG. Change the Save in selection to the directory you would like to save the image and then press the Save button.

Now the image has been saved onto your computer in the location you specified, you can close IrfanView. The next part of this tutorial will explain how to share this image for others to see.

Uploading the screen shot to an image site

Now that the file is saved on your hard drive, you want to be able to share that image for others to view. One free service that we recommend is Photobucket. Photobucket is a free service that allows you to upload and share images on your computer so that other people on the Internet can view them. To use Photobucket you must first register at their site. Simply fill out the form and follow the instructions for becoming a free member of their site. Once you are a member you should login and you will be presented with the Add Pictures screen.

Browse to the picture you would like to upload and then press the Submit button. Once you submit the picture you will be presented with a screen that shows all the pictures you have uploaded with your account on to Photobucket. Below each picture you will see the words Url, Tag, and Img. I will explain what each of these means and when to use them.

URL The URL field contains the text you would copy and share with your friends via email. If you wanted someone to see this image, you would send this link via email by coping the text in the URL field and pasting that into your mail message. When the person receives the email they can then click on that link to view your image. Tag The Tag field is used to show an image in a HTML document. If you want to share this image on your web site or in another method that uses HTML you would use the text contained in this field. Img The Img field is dedicated to posting your image on a message board or forum like BleepingComputer.com. Simply copy and paste the text found in this field into a message on our forums and when someone views your topic or post they will see your image.

Here are some reasons why the Group button is grayed out and the things you can do to get it back.

Only one shape or picture is selected. Make sure you have multiple shapes or pictures selected. You can’t use the Group tool with SVG icons, so those don’t count.

To group SVG icons together you have to convert them to shapes first. For more information on converting them to shapes, see: Convert an SVG image to an Office shape.

Your selection includes a table, worksheet, or GIF image. The Group button will not be available if any of these objects is selected.

If you are using PowerPoint, you might have tried to group something with the title placeholder text (“Click to add title”) or with the content placeholder (“Click to add text”).

In the above example, the blue square and the green circle can be grouped together. But the shapes cannot be grouped with the placeholder text.

To get the Group button back, move the shape, picture, or object to another location on your slide outside of the placeholder text, or remove the placeholder from the things you want to group.

How to take group photos

While it’s not the same as previous versions, in Windows 10 you can still play an image slideshow from within File Explorer. Here’s how.

In previous versions of Windows, starting with Millenium Edition or Windows ME, for those of you too young to remember that debacle, you could play a slideshow of your pictures in the My Pictures folder. With Windows 10, things have changed a bit, but you can still play an image slideshow from within File Explorer. Here’s a look at choosing the images you want and starting the slideshow via the updated Ribbon interface.

Play an Image Slideshow in Windows 10

To easily start a slideshow of all images in a folder, open the folder that contains the images you want, and then select the first picture from the folder. A new yellow section called Picture Tools will appear in the Ribbon above the Manage tab; click on it.

There you will see some new options and in the View section. Click on the Slide show to begin a slideshow of all of the pictures in the folder. Note that if you don’t select any of the pictures in the folder, you will not start a slideshow.

You can also start a slideshow with only the specific images in a folder you want to use. To select the images in the folder you want, hold down the Ctrl or Shift key on your keyboard to select the pictures you want to use. That will give you the same Picture Tools option in the Manage tab with the option to start a slideshow.

Once you start the slideshow, you can right-click on any displayed images and control playback, change the speed, or exit from the slideshow.

Remember that this will only display the static images in File Explorer. If you want more sophisticated tools, check out the built-in Photos app or the upcoming Windows 10 feature, Story Remix, which will let you edit and combine pictures and video files, too. Or, you can always use a third-party app like IrfanView, which also offers more customizable slideshow options.

You can create stacks to group a set of visually similar photos together, making them easy to manage. Stacks are useful for keeping multiple photos of the same subject or a photo and its virtual copies in one place, and they reduce clutter in the Grid view and the Filmstrip.

For example, you may want to create a stack to group multiple photos of a portrait session taken with the same pose, or for photos taken at an event using your camera’s burst mode or auto-bracket feature. When you take photos this way, you end up with many similar variations of the same photo, but you usually want only the best one to appear in the Grid view or the Filmstrip. Stacking the photos lets you easily access them all in one place instead of having them scattered across rows of thumbnails.

When grouping photos in a stack, the photos are stacked according to their sort order in the Grid view, with the active photo at the top of the stack.

A stack is collapsed when stacked photos are grouped under the thumbnail of the top photo in the Grid view or the Filmstrip. A stack is expanded when all photos in a stack are visible in the Grid view or the Filmstrip.

Stacks are specific to the folder or collection in which they were created. The photos in a stack must all be from the same folder or the same collection; you cannot create stacks while in a smart collection or a published collection.

You can only view a stack in a folder when that folder (or other folders) is selected as a source, or when All Photographs is selected. You can only view a stack in a collection when just that one collection is selected as a source. Stacks are not visible when a mix of folders and collections is selected.

Here are a few tips for working with stacks:

Any Develop adjustments, ratings, flags, or color labels applied to a collapsed stack affect only the photo at the top of the stack.

If you select a photo in a stack and add it to a Quick Collection or collection, only the selected photo—not the entire stack—is added.

When you search for photos, the top photo in a stack shows the number of photos in the stack in the upper-left corner.

    Q. I have hundreds of TIFF-formatted photos. Is there an efficient way to convert these photos to JPG all at once?

    A. Just as you can rename multiple photos at once through “batch processing,” you can convert a large collection of images from one file format to another in one step. The TIFF format, common in print production, generally makes for much larger file sizes than images stored in the more compressed, web-friendly JPG format.

    Popular image-editing programs like those in Adobe’s Photoshop family include commands to convert files from TIFF to JPG, and the program’s help guide should be able to give you specific conversion instructions for your version. But you have plenty of alternatives if you do not use such photo-management software.

    The Mac and Windows app stores host several relatively inexpensive utility programs for converting file formats, resizing and optimizing images in a batch. When shopping for a suitable program, read the reviews and make sure the software does everything you want it to do.

    On the Mac, the $10 PhotoBulk from Eltima Software does batch jobs and can add watermarks and date stamps to your pictures. Windows users have plenty of programs to browse as well, including the free IrFanView or the $35 Pixillion Plus Image Converter. While a bit more technically demanding, the cross-platform, open-source GIMP software can also handle batch operations.

    The Preview program that comes with the Mac operating system also converts image files between formats. To convert a folder of TIFFs, open the folder, select all files and drag the batch onto the Preview icon in the Mac’s desktop dock; you can also right-click on the selected batch and choose Open With Preview.

    When all the photos are open in the Preview window’s left pane, press the Command and A keys to select them all. Go to the File menu and choose Export Selected Images. In the Export window, select JPG as the format and adjust the image quality slider as needed. Click the New Folder button in the lower-left corner to create a landing spot for the new files and then chick the blue Choose button to convert copies of the selected files in your chosen format.

    1. Start the Photos app. It should automatically open on the Photos tab, set to All Photos. You can navigate to whatever folder you want to select photos in.

    2. Tap “Select” at the top right of the screen.

    3. Lightly tap each photo you want to select. You can scroll as you go, if all the photos you want aren’t on the screen at once. You can see a running total of selected photos at the bottom of the screen.

    4. When you’re ready, tap the Share button (the box with an arrow coming out of it in the bottom-left corner) or Delete to take action on the selected photos.

    How to select all the photos in a folder or on your iPhone

    There is no “Select All” command in the Photos app, but you can select all the photos in a folder (or even all photos on an iPhone) in a slightly more manual way.

    1. Start the Photos app and navigate to the folder you want to select in its entirety. If you want to select all the photos on the phone, stay on the “All Photos” section of the Photos tab.

    2. Tap “Select” in the upper right corner of the screen.

    3. Lightly tap the very last photo in the folder and immediately swipe your finger to the left, then move it up towards the upper left corner of the screen. As you do this, you should see photos being selected under your finger. This might some practice to do correctly, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work correctly the first time you try it.

    4. Move your finger up to the clock and leave it there until the album scrolls all the way to the first photo, and they’re all selected.

    You can access the images stored in a conversation at any time, and then save them to your phone’s photo library or reshare them via text, email, or social media.

    How to view all pictures in a text message thread on your iPhone

    1. Unlock your iPhone and navigate to the Messages app from the home screen.

    2. Find the message thread with the images that you want to see. Tap on the thread to open it.

    3. Tap on the person’s name or group chat name at the top of the screen. Three icons will appear: “audio,” “FaceTime,” and “info.” Tap “info.”

    4. If your iPhone is running iOS 13, all of the images that you’ve ever sent each other in the conversation will appear under the “PHOTOS” section. Here you can view the most recent pictures as a preview size. You can scroll through all images by tapping “See All Photos.”

    • On iOS 12 or earlier, the conversation’s picture history will appear underneath an “Images” tab on the “info” page.

    5. Once you tap on an image and open it, you can tap on the arrow icon in the bottom-left corner to open a number of options for sending, sharing, or saving the photo.

    Windows 10 All-in-One For Dummies

    The built-in software in Windows 10 easily fetches photos from nearly any make and model of digital camera, as well as most smartphones. It even lets you group your camera’s photo sessions into different folders, each named after the event.

    Although these steps work for most digital cameras and Android smartphones, iPhone owners must go through iTunes to copy their photos to their computer.

    To import photos from your camera or smartphone into your computer, follow these steps:

    Plug the phone or camera’s cable into your computer.

    Most cameras come with two cables: one that plugs into your TV set for viewing, and another that plugs into your computer. You need to find the one that plugs into your computer for transferring photos. (With smart phones, your USB charging cable handles the job.)

    Plug the transfer cable’s small end into your camera or smartphone, and plug the larger end (shown here) into your computer’s USB port, a rectangular-looking hole about 1/2-inch long and 1/4-inch high. USB ports live on the back of the older computers, along the front of newer computers, and along the sides of laptops and tablets.

    If the USB plug doesn’t want to fit into the port, turn over the plug and try again. (It fits only one way.)

    Turn on your phone or camera (if it’s not already turned on) and wait for File Explorer to recognize it.

    Open File Explorer from the taskbar along the bottom of your screen and click the This PC icon from the program’s left edge. File Explorer lists all of the storage devices available to your PC, including your camera or phone.

    When recognized, your camera appears as an icon (shown in the margin) in File Explorer’s This PC section.

    If you plug in an Android smartphone, be sure to tell it to connect in “Camera Mode” mode rather than “Media Device” mode. Your phone appears as an icon (shown here).

    If Windows doesn’t recognize your camera, make sure that the camera is set to display mode — the mode where you can see your photos on the camera’s display. If you still have problems, unplug the cable from your computer, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in.

    Right-click your camera or phone, choose Import Pictures and Videos from the pop-up menu, and choose how to import your photos.

    The Import Pictures and Videos window, shown in the following figure, offers two options for handling your newly recognized digital camera or smartphone:

    Review, Organize, and Group Items to Import: Designed for cameras holding photos from several sessions, this option lets you sort your photos into groups, copying each group to a different folder. It takes more time, but it’s a handy way to separate your Hawaiian vacation photos into folders named after each island. If you prefer this option, move to Step 5.

    Import All New Items Now: Designed for cameras holding only one photo session, this much simpler approach copies every photo into one folder. If you choose this option, move to Step 4.

    Clicking the words More Options, shown in the bottom left of the figure, lets you change where Windows places your imported photos, as well as whether Windows should delete them from the camera after importing them. It’s worth a look-see because it lets you undo any options you’ve mistakenly chosen when importing your previous batch of photos.

    Select the Import All New Items Now option, type a short description into the Add Tags box, and click Next.

    Type a descriptive word into the Add Tags box — Hawaii Trip, for example — and click Next. Windows copies everything into a folder named after the date and the word “Hawaii Trip.” It also names every file “Hawaii Trip 001,” “Hawaii Trip 002,” and so on. You’re done! To see your photos, open your Pictures folder and look for your newly named folder.

    Adding a descriptive word or phrase makes your photos much easier to find later. To fetch them, type their tag into the Start menu’s Search box, and Windows lists them all.

    Click the Review, Organize, and Group items to Import button, and click the Next button.

    Adjust the time grouping, if necessary, to keep related photos in the same place.

    Don’t like the Windows choice of groups? Then change them by sliding the Adjust Groups bar to the left or right. Slide to the left for lots of small groups, sorted by every half-hour you snapped a photo. Keep sliding to the right for fewer groups. Slide to the farthest right, and Windows places everything into one group, meaning they all go into one folder.

    Can’t remember what’s in a group of photos? Click the words View All Items to the left of each group. That lets you view the photos and decide whether they’re important enough to warrant their own folder.

    Approve the chosen groups, name the groups’ folders, add descriptive tags, and then click the Import button.

    Name each group by clicking the words Enter a Name and then typing a descriptive title. The title becomes the new folder’s name.

    In the Add Tags area for each group, type in descriptive words about the photo session, separating each word with a semicolon. By tagging your photos, you can easily find them later with the Windows Search program.

    After you’ve named the groups and added tags, click the Import button to finish the job.

    If you don’t delete your camera’s photos after Windows copies them into your computer, you won’t have room to take more photos. As Windows begins grabbing your photos, you can select the Erase after Importing check box, shown here. That tells Windows to erase the camera’s photos, saving you the trouble of manually deleting them with your camera’s awkward menus.

    LucidPix can also convert your existing 2D photos to 3D. The finished images can be shared with the app’s community or on other platforms like Facebook, which has built-in support for displaying 3D images. Adding this social aspect to the app lets you share and view 3D images just like people do with 2D images on Instagram or Snapchat. In fact, there are several large groups on Facebook dedicated to 3D photos. And at this time LucidPix seems like one of the easier ways to create and customize your own 3D snaps.

    “The way consumers express themselves digitally and visually has evolved more and more to what we naturally see with our own eyes with depth,” said Han Jin, Lucid’s founder and CEO. “Thus, over the past few years, the visual medium has become more multidimensional, leading to more portrait photos, 3D content, and AR and VR being created.”

    Jin suggests that the technology that powers the LucidPix app will one day have an impact on future photo formats from AR and VR to 3D and holograms, whether viewed on a phone or with a specialized headset.

    En español | Chances are you’ve thought about bringing your old paper photos into the digital age.

    Great idea. After all, you likely have a lifetime of precious memories trapped in photo albums, shoeboxes or dusty frames.

    Once digitized, these photographs will no longer fade over time; they can be automatically repaired with smart software (such as adding back color, removing redeye and stitching rips); photos can be organized and easily searched by keyword (on a computer, tablet, phone or online cloud site); and you can share them with friends and family over email and social media, or create fun projects like scrapbooks, slideshows, fridge magnets and more.

    There are several ways to go about scanning old photos (or slides or negatives), but it boils down to two main options: Do it yourself (DIY) or use a professional service.

    Here’s a look at both options. Regardless of the direction you go, be sure to first organize your paper photos before you digitize them, or you risk having a “digital mess,” too, advises Mollie Bartelt, cofounder of Pixologie, a photo management company.

    “You can organize your paper photos by major categories like decades or people, and then suborganize them into sections, like family events,” she says. Bartelt recommends putting photos into piles or small boxes, divided by index cards and labeled with sticky notes.

    If you prefer to digitize photos yourself, you can pick up an inexpensive flatbed scanner (from $69), if you don’t already own one.

    You might also invest in a multifunction printer (as low as $49), which is usually an inkjet printer, scanner, photocopier and sometimes a fax machine, too — all in one unit.

    When scanning the photos facedown, keep in mind the higher the dots per inch (DPI), the better the resolution will be. For example, 300 DPI is OK for photos, but 600 DPI is recommended to ensure you get all the details in your pictures. A resolution of 1,200 DPI is only necessary if you’re looking to enlarge a photo to a poster-sized print through a service (see below).

    At last long last, Microsoft’s mobile OS experiment has come to an end. Support for the last version of Windows 10 Mobile dies on December 10.

    Update: Surprise! Microsoft granted Windows 10 Mobile a last-minute reprieve, scheduling one final Patch Tuesday update on January 14, 2020, aligning with Windows 7’s end-of-life date, as ZDNet noted. You’ve got a bit of extra time to take your data and move on, but the end is still nigh.

    Windows phones will still work, but the last wave of Windows Mobile devices running the last official supported version of Windows 10 Mobile (version 1709, the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update) won’t receive any more updates or patches for Windows 10 Mobile—features, security, or otherwise. Officially, it will cease to exist.

    If you’re a Lumia 640 or 640XL owner, you’ve already felt the touch of death: Support for those devices ended in June. But for the last hurrah of Windows devices, which included the HP Elite x3, Microsoft Lumia 550, 650, and the Lumia 950/950 XL; Alcatel IDOL 4S and 4S Pro; and the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL—it’s time for you to retire those devices and move on.

    If you don’t, well, you’ve moved from Microsoft’s walled garden to the hinterlands. Microsoft’s Store app may work—or it may not. Apps may be supported, Microsoft says, but how long support continues is up to the developer.

    About the only practical solution—and Microsoft’s recommendation—is to create a manual backup of your data on or before December 10, just in case something goes wrong. (Settings > Update & security > Backup > More Options > Back up now) “Automatic or manual creation of new device backups for settings and some applications will continue for 3 months, ending March 10, 2020,” Microsoft adds, but it’s not clear which apps will receive those backups.

    Moving from Windows Phone to Android

    Both Apple iPhones and phones running the Google Android OS have access to Microsoft-authored apps that replicate some of the functionality of Windows 10 Mobile phones. But the more open nature of Android has traditionally allowed more leeway in connecting those phones to Microsoft services.

    Although Microsoft services work under Android as well as iOS, Android offers more flexibility.

    Back up your Windows phone

    If you’ve finally been convinced to move to an Android phone, make sure your current Windows phone is backed up: photos synced, email saved, etc. And hang on to the phone! If there are any random documents or attachments that you aren’t sure have been saved, use the OneDrive app to back them up to your cloud storage or another location. Ditto for any lingering MP3s or old videos you have hanging around.

    Sign up for a Google account

    You’ll eventually need to sign up for a Google account, if you don’t have one already, as it’s part and parcel of the Android experience. Google will encourage you to use your Android/Gmail account as your primary email client, but you don’t have to.

    Microsoft apps on Android

    Download the very good Outlook app for Android instead, whose calendar is far more practical and straightforward than the native Android Calendar app. Other recommended apps include OneDrive, for backing up photos to the Microsoft cloud, and Your Phone, which is designed to connect your Android phone and your PC.

    Export contacts and messages

    Make sure that you export your phone’s contacts and SMS messages. Exporting your Windows contacts to Android is fairly easy: Go to Outlook.com on the Web, then to the People tab, and select the Manage dropdown menu in the upper right-hand corner. Export the contacts to a .CSV file.

    Here’s how to find the option to export your People contacts.

    Continue on the web to contacts.gmail.com, which is also accessible in the “Google Apps” menu next to your profile picture in the upper righthand corner.

    Here’s where you’ll need to use that Google account you signed up for. Once you’re in the Contacts app, there’s an Import option on the left-hand rail, which you can use to open that CSV file within Google and import your contacts. They’ll sync to your phone.

    Then import those contacts into Google Contacts.

    Exporting SMS text messages from Windows to Android is a bit trickier. When I migrated my wife’s Windows Phone to an Android phone, I used WP Message Backup, which is a “freemium” app that allows you to export SMS texts, pictures, group messages, and the like to an XML file. Unfortunately, the free version exports only 100 messages at a time, which can get old fast. That XML file can be uploaded to the cloud and then downloaded to an Android phone, or transferred wirelessly or via USB.     Recently, I had a situation where I wanted to send someone a picture, but I wanted it to be a combination of two pictures. Sending the pictures separately would not have been fun, due to the fact that they had to be shown side by side to get the best effect. I also wanted to do this without Photoshop or downloading some third party program!

    I got it to work using Paint, though it’s not the most ideal tool to use for obvious reasons. As long as you are ok with a little bit of cropping and image resizing, it’s not really that bad at all and the results are good. In this article, I’ll walk you through the steps to merge two pictures into one in Windows.

    Combine Two Images in MS Paint

    First, let’s start with the images we want to combine. In my example, I will be using two of the sample photos that Microsoft includes with Windows 7: Chrysanthemum and Hydrangeas.

    The next thing we want to do is to figure out the image sizes. Depending on the photos you are trying to combine, you may have to crop one in order for it to fit properly next to the other image. Since we are using Paint, right-click on one of the images and choose Open withPaint.

    Click on the little arrow to the left of the Home tab and click on Properties. Here is where we will see how big the image is in pixels or inches.

    If you are opening pictures from a digital camera, they may be very large and therefore it’s a good idea to first resize them to something more reasonable. This way, you can also email the combined picture without it being something crazy like 8 MB in size! To resize in Paint, click on the Resize button on the Home tab.

    You can either do it by percentage or by pixels if you prefer. You also want to make sure you keep the Maintain aspect ratio box checked.

    Once you have resized it, then you can also crop it if you want. Again, you can always go to Properties to see the final size of the image in pixels or inches. That way you can adjust the second image to be the same size if you want that. To crop, just click on the Select button and then select the area you want to crop.     After you are done adjusting the size and cropping, go ahead and save the photo. Now open the second image and do the same adjustments to match the first image. Now to the fun part of combining the images. Make a note of the sizes of both images and then create a new file in Paint.

    By default, it’s going to create a new file with a default size. We need to specify the size of our new image so that the width is exactly the width of image 1 to image 2 and the height is just the height of one image. In my case, both images were originally 1024×768, but I then resized them to half. So I need to change my new image size to 1024×384 in order to accommodate both images. Make sense? Again, go to Properties and adjust the size manually:

    Note that this will put the two images side by side. If you wanted them on top of each other, then you would make the width in our case 512 and the height 768. So just have to do a little math to get the right size for what you want to do. Once you have resized the new image, go ahead and open another instance of Paint. If you try to do File Open, it will ask you to close the current image, so you have to open a new instance of Paint.

    Open one of the images and click Select All to select the whole image. Then click on Copy.

    Now go to the new image and click on the Paste button at the top left. It should look like this now:

    Now in the second instance of Paint, go ahead and open the second image and Select All and then Copy. Then Paste it into the new image. By default, it’s going to go right over the first image. If you hover your mouse over the image, you’ll see you can drag it to a new location. Just click and drag to the right side.

    If you mess up and drop it in the wrong place, for some reason it’s impossible to select the image again. At least I could not figure it out. In that case, you just have to click the Undo arrow at the very top or press CTRL + Z. Then just paste it in again and move it. Also, when you paste it the first time, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the image also.

    So that’s it! Now just do a File – Save As and go ahead and save the combined image! It can take a little time and patience, especially if you have two images that are completely different in size, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy.     Since iOS 9, Apple removed the restriction of sending more than 5 photos through iMessage or Email. This was welcoming, but not so much. The reason was that now there is a limit of 20 photos. Well, we have a workaround to send more than 20 photos via Email or iMessage on your iPhone.

    Locate the picture in your computer

    Find the pictures in the computer and select the photos you want to be printed. It is always good to copy the files in a new folder to avoid any hassle. If you have downloaded the pictures from your email or from the internet, they will usually be in the ‘Downloads’ folder. I know the getdata function can work in this situation, but is there a simpler and faster way to do this in PIL(Python Image Library)?

    Let’s assume that your images are all .png files and they are all stored in the current working directory. The python code below will do what you want. As Ignacio suggests, using numpy along with PIL is the key here. You just need to be a little bit careful about switching between integer and float arrays when building your average pixel intensities.

    I find it difficult to imagine a situation where memory is an issue here, but in the (unlikely) event that you absolutely cannot afford to create the array of floats required for my original answer, you could use PIL’s blend function, as suggested by @mHurley as follows:

    You could derive the correct sequence of alpha values, starting with the definition from PIL’s blend function:

    Think about applying that function recursively to a vector of numbers (rather than images) to get the mean of the vector. For a vector of length N, you would need N-1 blending operations, with N-1 different values of alpha.

    However, it’s probably easier to think intuitively about the operations. At each step you want the avg image to contain equal proportions of the source images from earlier steps. When blending the first and second source images, alpha should be 1/2 to ensure equal proportions. When blending the third with the the average of the first two, you would like the new image to be made up of 1/3 of the third image, with the remainder made up of the average of the previous images (current value of avg), and so on.

    In principle this new answer, based on blending, should be fine. However I don’t know exactly how the blend function works. This makes me worry about how the pixel values are rounded after each iteration.

    In July, Facebook rolled out a new “seen by” feature for groups, which let people know who has seen a post or announcement in that group, and when. And, although Facebook didn’t make much of a song and dance about it at the time, it looks like it is actually offering this feature on photos, too.

    As you can see in the screenshot below, the “seen by” feature in photos works just like the “seen by” feature for other group posts: someone who posts a photo to a group can see how many people in that group have viewed it, who those people are, and what time it was that they viewed the photo. And that information is not exclusive just to the poster, either — others in the group can see who viewed a particular picture, too.

    The “seen by” feature on a photo was first brought to our attention by Christo Wilson, a computer science PhD student at U.C. Santa Barbara, whose professor, Ben Zhao, was the one who first noticed it appear on a photo of his daughter that he posted to a group of users.

    Zhao told TechCrunch in an email that he first noticed it on Friday. “I have a lot of friends who visit a group page we created for my baby daughter, and the first timestamp showed up last night,” he said.

    I joined Zhao’s daughter’s page as well, and I could also see the names of all the users who had viewed each photo. This feature doesn’t seem to be appearing on other Facebook groups that I am in, yet.

    It’s unclear whether Facebook would ever extend the “seen by” feature to photos that appear on all users’ accounts, not just those of groups.

    On the one hand, Facebook has clearly been growing the number of places where people can view who has viewed their content. In May, Facebook added “seen by” details to messages between individual users and groups. Then in July, it appeared on group posts. In that context, it makes sense for it to extend to group photos, and possibly more.

    Zhao notes this could be “a phased rollout and something that will be coming for other more broader contexts as well.”

    On the other hand, making something like this more widely used could be viewed as Facebook encroaching too far into how it monitors — and reports — on how the social network gets used. Photos have a more personal nature, and as Josh pointed out when Facebook launched the group “seen by” feature, it would be unlikely this could be used for general photo browsing:

    Facebook spends a lot of time fighting spam and scam hawking “profile spy apps” that would supposedly let you see who has viewed your profile. It’s repeatedly stated that no app can do this, and I’d say it’s highly unlikely to ever show who looked at photos. I mean, people might be a lot more apprehensive to browse photos, especially of romantic interests, if they knew other people could see their activity.

    But in any case, if privacy concerns and apprehension deters users from looking at photos, that would run counter to Facebook’s bigger strategy to get people using photos more, part of how it hopes to keep people engaged on its platform.

    If a feature like this, which basically will tell someone when you have looked at his/her photographs, feels uncomfortable now, there may well be a time when it feels less so. Facebook could be the one to usher in that change.

    As Zhao notes, it’s “just another step in the ‘Zuckering’ of our social norms, slowly eroding what most people consider to be over the line from a privacy perspective.” (In his work, Zhao happens to specialize in “large-distributed networks and systems, data mining and modeling, security and privacy, and wireless / mobile systems,” with current projects focused on “querying, modeling and mining massive graphs, analysis of social networks and online communities, and wireless systems and protocols.”)

    In groups, that discomfort in any case should be less so — the picture has been sent to a group you are in, so of course you might look at it. That’s slightly different from visiting another user’s (say an ex-boyfriend’s) set of photos and browsing through them all.

    And it puts Facebook more in line with Path, which also lets users know who has viewed their “moments.” That alone could be a sign of how Facebook is trying to better tailor its service for those who want to use it in these more personal, traceable ways.

    Update: Facebook confirmed both that photos posted to groups have been included in the feature since launch, and that the “seen by” feature is only for photos that are part of a group post, not others. “We have not announced plans to extend the seen by feature to other products beyond Messenger and Groups,” the spokesperson said.

    For many companies, these questions will only be answered days or weeks after the project begins. However, organizations have a powerful tool that can help them answer these questions before the project commences: focus groups.

    Before we talk about how to conduct a focus group, let’s take a look at the definition of a focus group and some of the pros and cons.

    What is a Focus Group?​

    ​A focus group is a gathering of stakeholders who are selected to participate in a planned discussion intended to uncover perceptions about a particular topic in a non-threatening environment. In the context of organizational change management, focus groups are one critical activity to include in your change management plan, especially if you’re preparing for an ERP implementation.

    Here are some key terms to understand:

    Stakeholders

    This includes employees, managers, executives, customers and anyone who might be impacted by the topic of interest.

    Planned Discussion

    ​Agendas and relevant training materials must be created in advance. In addition, the meeting date must be set at a time that encourages maximum participation from the stakeholders.

    Uncover Perceptions

    The objective of the focus group is to pull information from stakeholders. There should be an open floor for discussion to encourage maximum participation.

    Non-threatening Environment

    This is one of the most important aspects of the focus group definition. The focus group must be designed in a way that allows participants to feel free to discuss potential pain points. One way to ensure this is to conduct different focus groups for employees at different levels to ensure they are not filtering their opinions due to their managers being present.

    Advantages and Disadvantages of Focus Groups

    ​Much attention has been given to focus groups across the change management community. What is change management? It is the process of looking at the human side of change. Attention has been given to focus groups, because, if orchestrated correctly, focus groups can yield valuable and actionable information. Following are some advantages of using focus groups:

    • They help obtain information about personal and group opinions.
    • They provide the opportunity to ask follow-up questions.
    • They can save time and money when compared to the cost of individual interviews.
    • They can provide a broader range of information than individual interviews.

    While there are distinct advantages to conducting a focus group, there are some disadvantages, as well:

    • Disagreements between group members and irrelevant discussion can distract from the main topic.
    • Focus groups findings can be difficult to analyze.
    • Some participants might not be willing to share their opinions due to fear of backlash.

A photo of your soldier in his or her uniform on this memorable day is a priceless record of accomplishment. Obtaining copies of this photo is easy to do, once you know whom to contact.

    Go to the website of the U.S. Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command. This organization is known as the MWR. The web address is “armymwr.com.”

    2 Click My Installation

    Click “My Installation” on the top right-hand side of the menu at the top of the page.

    3 Click on the state

    Click on the state where your solider attended basic training.

    4 Click the post

    Click the post where your soldier did his or her basic training. After you choose the post, your choices are “Home” or “MWR.” Click “MWR.” For posts that do not include an “MWR” link, choose “Home” and then do a search for the MWR when you reach the post’s website.

    5 Click Contact Us

    Click “Contact Us” on the website for the MWR of that particular post to obtain the telephone number for the MWR.

    6 Call the number

    Call the number and ask how to obtain basic training graduation photos of your soldier. This information may vary by base, because they each use their own contractor to take these photographs.

    7 Order your photographs

    Order your photographs. Include payment in an accepted form and any other information that will assist them to identify the photos you are interested in.

    Camera uploads is a feature that automatically uploads photos from your mobile device to Dropbox.

    Note: Camera uploads is not available for Dropbox business teams that use Dropbox Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) for Android or Dropbox users on Linux.

    Turn camera uploads on or off on the Dropbox mobile app

    1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.
    2. Tap the menu button.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. Under Features, tap Camera uploads.
    5. Tap Back up my photos.
    6. If prompted, tap Allow.

    2. Tap the person icon.
    3. Tap Camera Uploads.
    4. Tap Ok to give Dropbox access to your photos and videos.
    5. Choose what you’d like to back up and whether you’d like to use cell data.
    6. Tap Turn on camera uploads.

    Turn camera uploads on or off in the Dropbox desktop app

    When you plug a camera or mobile device into a computer with the Dropbox desktop app installed, you’ll see a prompt asking if you’d like to enable camera uploads for that device. Once you accept, that device will automatically upload your camera roll each time the device is plugged in to that computer.

    You can also turn camera uploads on or off at any time. To do so:

    1. Open your Dropbox desktop app preferences.
    2. Under Backups check the box next to Enable camera uploads for.
    3. Choose Photos only or Photos and videos from the dropdown.

    Note: If you’re using macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or higher, you’ll see a notification that says “Dropbox would like to access files on a removable volume.” Clicking OK will allow camera uploads to work. You can change this preference any time:

    1. Open System Preferences.
    2. Click Security and Privacy.
    3. Click the Privacy tab.
    4. Click Files and Folders.
    5. Check or uncheck the box next to Removable Volumes under Dropbox.

    FAQs about camera uploads

    Can I choose which folder my photos upload to?

    By default, your photos will be uploaded to a folder in your Dropbox account named Camera Uploads. You can’t change this; however, you can move your photos to a different folder in your Dropbox account after they’ve been uploaded.

    Why did camera uploads use all of my battery power?

    Camera uploads can use a large amount of battery power the first time your photos are uploaded. After the photos are uploaded, battery usage should return to normal. By default, the Dropbox app stops auto-uploading when your battery is low to save battery life.

    Why did camera uploads use all of my cellular data?

    By default, camera uploads uses cellular data when WiFi is not available. You can change this setting by following the instructions for your device below.

    1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.
    2. Tap the menu button.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. Under Camera uploads, toggle Use data when offline to off.

    If you’re on a Dropbox business team and you don’t see a camera uploads option, your admin may have turned the feature off for your team.

    Can I use camera uploads on my personal and work account?

    If you’ve linked two Dropbox accounts, you can only have camera uploads turned on for one account at a time.

    Why do I see someone else’s photos in my Camera Uploads folder?

    When you plug a camera or mobile device into a computer with the Dropbox desktop app installed, you’ll see a prompt asking if you’d like to enable camera uploads for that device. This means that if someone used your computer to charge their phone, they may have clicked OK to that pop-up without realizing it.

    To find out who uploaded photos to your account:

    1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
    2. Hover over the photo you don’t recognize, and click the “” (ellipsis).
    3. Click Version history.
    4. Look for a name next to Added by.
